Is Five Guys really that good?

10,159 June 10, 2010 at 05:17 PM in Grocery
A Five Guys burger joint just opened today in my area....the first in CA, I believe. I'm dying to go check it out. Maybe this weekend. Is all the hype justified?drool

Yep. It was five guys. Just got the burger as the fries were too expensive and it wasn't any bigger than a double cheeseburger from mcdonalds. They didn't even throw on any condiments such as pickles or onions.

Think I might've went on a bad day?

I just went on Sunday for the first time. I thought it was pretty good. Not the absolute best hamburger ever, but good. Loved that you get all the toppings you want on it. Got sauteed mushrooms and onions on mine. I thought the fries were very good, one of my new favorites.

Doesn't take much to be better than fatburger, imo. I thought it was waaaay better than fatburger.

Are you sure you went to 5 guys? Huh I got the small burger and between that and the fries, I was stuffed. No way could I have finished the regular sized burger.

Heh, it was still the most bland, tasteless tasting burger I've ever tasted.. Even mcdonalds tastes better to me than that blech I ordered. This was last October, I might have to try again when I have the money to waste.

Where I live in NJ, we have a Five Guys and a Cheeburger Cheeburger. Both let you have your choice of toppings. IMO Cheeburger Cheeburger is 100% better than Five Guys hands down. For those of you who lack a Cheeburger restaurant....

That's the oddest name I've ever heard of.. Chee burger.

The Chee are a fictional race of androids created by the extinct Pemalites, a race of pacifists from the sci-fi book series Animorphs, written by K. A. Applegate.

So, it's pretty much androids ground up and made into a burger? drool

In & Out is good for the price, sure. But Five Guys is a whole 'nother league. The burgers are the most tastiest burgers you will ever eat in a chain, bar none.
Yeah, see, everyone says that, but I'm totally not impressed. I've had it twice since they opened up one just down the street from my house. And the burger is fine, but it's so greasy, and the bun is SO soggy that the burger is no longer enjoyable. I don't know WTF they do the bun or if it's how they wrap it or whatever, but it's like mushy bread, it's so freakin' disgusting.

The second time was even worse to the point where I won't be going back, especially at that ridiculous price. vomit

Their fries are all right, they're nothing special, though. They taste like fries at any other restaurant.

I seriously do not get WTF the big deal is about them. Dontknow

Dontknow Ask for a dry bun with yours so it doesn't hit the grill.
