When you go to a Chinese restaurant, what do you order?

I am curious. When you fellow SD'ers dine in a Chinese restaurant (no, Panda Express doesn't count!Stick Out Tongue), what do you order? Typical sweet and sour pork, General Tso's Chicken?

Try to find a Szechuan restaurant. They have some really good (and wacky!) stuff. I love Dan Dan Noodles and Ants Climbing a Tree (celophane noodles with bits o' pork).

At a typical American Chinese restautant, I like chicken and/or beef with broccoli, roast pork lo mein, and General Tso's chicken. There's one take-out place in a town where I used to live that makes a dish simply called "Chicken & Shrimp in Brown Sauce". It's epic. It's simply that: chicken and shrimp tossed in a spicy (sometimes too spicy!) brown gravy/sauce with some vegetables. It's great with white rice mixed in. I still drive the eight miles or so from where I live now every once in a while just to get this dish. I love it!

Black pepper beef. Ginger and scallion lobster. Some sorta stuffed tofu. I almost always go for the salty squid with the pork chops and shrimp. But if it's lunch time, maybe some rice dishes like Hong Kong style beef over rice or the 4 treasure dish thingy.

1. House Special Fried Rice (pork, chicken, shrimp, veggies)
2. Pork in Garlic Sauce (dark brown spicy and garlicky thick sauce)
3. Mongolian Beef (a personal favorite)

Always ordered 非常非常辣 (very very spicy)

I've never eaten at a "real" chinese place before, only the Americanized stuff. I used to, before I got married, eat only sweet and sour chicken. Ever since I have been married, my husband and I have been pretty adventous with eating. We love to try new things. That being said, this weekend was one of the first times I have ever gotten something different at a chinese place. I got Moo Goo Gai Pan. I had never had it. It was okay, but I wouldn't eat it again.

I usually get: Orange chicken, sesame chicken, general tsos (well, DH gets it and I nibble) or lo mein.

Up next to try: Egg Foo Young, Moo Shu Pork/Chicken, Chow Fun... etc etc.

.... I really need to expand on Asian cuisine. I really love Pad Thai, it is delicious. I've never really eaten much else. We went to a Korean place once and sampled a lot of different things and that was fun. Once I get better I should definitely get to trying more Asian cuisine. What kind of Vietnamese stuff is good?

....oh and I had Panda Express for lunch today. It is actually the first thing that has given my belly an issue since I have been home from the hospital.

These days I only go to Chinese places for dim sum, if it is a sit down restaurant.
For take out, Hot and sour soup and curry chicken from my neighborhood Chinese place, not really a restaurant, more a take out place. Their Hot and sour is the best, never tasted anything like it anywhere else.
