When you go to a Chinese restaurant, what do you order?

I am curious. When you fellow SD'ers dine in a Chinese restaurant (no, Panda Express doesn't count!Stick Out Tongue), what do you order? Typical sweet and sour pork, General Tso's Chicken?

oh yeah..you reminded me of the beef noodle soup....that is my #1 choice but they don't (the local chinese takeouts) don't offer them here...i have to go to the city (the real chinese places) to get them. usually look like this...delicious and the meat is very tender.

as for the pot stickers....my mom makes them really good....Big Grin
yeah, the place i go to has noodles that look similar to that. the broth isn't as dark and is more red from the spices they throw in it. Smilie

i like most of the soups. hot 'n sour and sizzling rice top my list, but sizzling rice really isn't the same if you get it to go.

there's a place a little north of where i live that has the best noodles ever. they hand-pulled and made fresh for every order. noodles, spicy broth, and cut meat/veggies. Smilie

apps: pot sticker (prefer gyoza, but meh), jellyfish (spicy) and egg rolls with lots of the sweet 'n sour sauce. drool

as for dishes, i'll eat just about anything. my fav dishes are beef chow fun, kung pao chicken, and ma po tofu.
dude...ma po tofu is farkin awesome!

my mom makes it without it being too spicy and damn i never get tired of it

I am not a big fan of soups. I like tomato with grilled cheese, egg drop and when I don't feel good chicken noodle is always a good choice. But I have not yet tried all of the other types of soups out there, so who knows.

I swear, mgs937, you are conspiring against me to make me starve and crave all this stuff while being stuck on a diet. laugh out loud First with the Filet O'Fish thread and now this one. Ranting

But if I COULD order yummy Chinese, I'd order Lemon Chicken. If no Lemon Chicken, then Sesame Chicken. Fried rice on the side.

Never heard of scallion pancakes, but they look interesting to try.

In regards to that pic of miso soup, I dunno where that was taken, but anywhere I've had miso soup there's usually ONE or maybe two (if I'm lucky) TEENSY TINY pieces of tofu in it. Cheapskates. Mad

hahahaha, LMAO i'm sorry! what can i say? i love to eat...

as for the scallion pancakes...try to get them from a place in Chinatown if you have one...from my experience, the ones from the local Chinese take outs aren't as good.

oh yeah and for that miso soup picture...i googled for the pics and found that one to be really nice...notice the smoke? haha.
