Morning!! Happy Day Off to everyone (hopefully!)!

Enjoying a quiet relaxing morning with all my munchkins plus daddy here at home. I'm planning on doing an hour's worth of cleaning, and then do a little shopping. Then an extended family picnic, that will most likely be pushed indoors due to rain. Perfect day!!

L2B, I hope things work out as you want with your son. That's gotta be difficult.

welcome and come rant any time! or shoot the breeze. or complain about deals or any other thread. we esp like to be pointed to the fun drama in other threads. we don't like dealing w/ it so much. we do like food. esp if it's delicious but good for you, since some of us are trying to lose weight..

Question about cookware. A year or 2 back, I bought a Circulon set which was on SD, I believe several here gave it good reviews & I think it's this same set: http://www.amazon.com/Circulon-2-...66&sr=8-11 It has held up extremely well, no scratches, peeling, etc. (it's non-stick). But I have always been worried about non-stick & just got another set (the SS Calphalon set @ Macy's that was on special). Considering how well the Circulon has held up, I'm a little reluctant to just get rid of it. My question is: Is all non-stick bad? I know Teflon is, but I don't know if all non-stick is related to Teflon.
Meanwhile, on the Target front, I think I'm gonna like that new $5 off Mossimo q.

my dd is 5 and having her second surgery Oct 13 and I asked some close family members if they would come down and take my youngest and drop my oldest off at school. All of them had every excuse in the damn book. I am especially furious with my sister who just sent my wonderful nephew off to college. He needed sheets, a fridge, pillows, a laptop and several other things a lot of stuff from my stockpile deodorant etc. I paid for it all. I also gave him 100 gc to walmart and 100 to shaw's because there is a shuttle to those two stores. I'm just sick of going out of my way for every singe one of them and they can't come 2.5 hours for their niece. We moved to CT and they have been here twice in 4.5 years we have been here. If I don't go up there once a month they start laying the guilt trip on real thick. We don't know anyone here so they know I need someone.

I hope all you east coasters are recovering quickly, we were very fortunate that Irene didn't do much to us personally.

good morning. i have a terrible headache and feel a bit nauseous from crying about my college friend last nite. i hope a couple up&up ibuprofen will fix that. today we need to haul out all the stuff that needs to be thrown out b/c garbage collection is tomorrow.

I haven't bought much from craigslist - but I was puzzled when I would contact people to buy something and they were already mad at me and would ask "Are you even going to show up?" like I had already done something wrong. I guess they had already had their fill of no shows.

Glad to hear you are almost walking upright just like a human again....

TM4D - Hang in there. I am sure you will make the right decisions (even if it doesn't always seem like it at the moment...)

I think CL definitely has its bad points, but in my experience, its worth the effort. I go into it expecting to have no-shows, late responders, etc., and that way I'm pleasantly surprised when it actually goes through. Because there is no accountability for either the seller or the buyer, it leaves it open for abuse and the free reign of ugly human nature.

I used to see that kind of notation in people's posts and always thought wow, what negative attitudes. but now i understand why. the part i don't understand is why common courtesy is at such a premium. if you can write to/call someone multiple times to set up a meeting, why can't you write to them/call them to say 4 simple words: sorry can't make it OR sorry, changed my mind.
doesn't seem that effortful, or that much to ask.

thanks for the good wishes about my recovery. i'm getting there one slow step at a time (no pun intended), and one day at a time. but i have finally learned to give up my frustration and sadness and depression at how limited i am and to accept slow progress. where doctors are beginning to suggest to me that i may never be whole and healed again, and never resume normal activity again, i am learning to be grateful for each day of progress. as long as i can get back to normal, i will keep persisting through the pain.



i'm counting on that and making posts again. where stuff didn't sell at the yard sale, i'm thinking of posting on CL. really need to get a bunch of stuff we're not using - old and brand new - out of the house.

also, have any of you posted stockpile stuff on CL, with pictures, prices and descriptions/quantities and made a sale? i'd like to get that stuff out of the house, too. the fragrances in the products are really making me feel sick, so i really want them out of my stockpile and out of the house.

GG, I want you to know I wasn't trying to minimize your situation with your buyer, because that was just beyond the pale. I'm not sure if I came across the way I intended to or not, so just know that you had my full sympathy with your situation.

I have had fair success with what I have listed on CL, but I've stuck with mainly diapers/wipes, battery-powered toothbrushes, that sort of thing. Oh, I did sell Glade candles, too. I know others have had great success selling stockpile items, so I would say its definitely worth a try. From what I've read, they make a list of items with prices and quantities, like you suggested.

We got home just in time tonight to beat the downpour! Raining like crazy out there right now. But we had so much fun. My sister and her family came down from MD, and we were at my other sisters' house, so it was one big party. We had chicken kabobs, with lots of veggies, and then fruit kabobs (not grilled). So delish, and healthy, too!

Now to get things ready for school tomorrow. Back to the grind!!

US gov't has mandated that all Teflon be phased out in cookware by 2014-2015 because it is so toxic.

does CL fetch good prices on the stockpile items?

While I really haven't sold stockpile items on CL, the things I have listed on CL have fetched better prices than I get at a yardsale. I do like CL selling, except for all the spammers/weirdos you get emailing you.

last few posts i wrote something along the lines of serious buyers only, please. spammers and scammers, please don't waste my time and yours.

in the past when i've posted on cl, and not written anything like that i've gotten wierdos with money order etc offers, people bargaining and trying to get it at 25%, tons of penis enlargement offers and such.

(re those penis enlargement offers - they always find me. and have for years. every day. every email address. without fail. somehow the universal powers that be don't seem to realize that I don't have a penis and therefore have no need to enlarge it, and that even if I did have one attached to my body, being the organic eating creature that i am, i would not be consuming some random pills to enlarge my organ. hopefully now that i've put it in writing, the message will get across to the universe and i will stop receiving those obnoxious emails).

yes, that is the hope that the riding the wave of pain, will eventually help me get over the hump and to the promised land of normalcy.
problem: the current consensus amongst PCP, Ptherapist, and one rehab specialist is that I have developed a neurological condition that happens after a traumatic injury. It is a debilitating condition with no cure, and no clearly understandable physiological mechanism, save that your brain thinks that the injury still exists and acts as such. which means anytime i do any activity, my leg, arm, chest (all the injured areas) go into extreme pain mode, with shooting nerve pain, severe inflammation, stiffness, temperature changes, skin color changes, and multiple broken capillaries and tiny blood clots all over.

next friday i see a neurologist at the pain clinic. he specializes in this and the hope is we can chart out a path to successful recover. but who knows.

so for now, when i do things, it's all the muscle pain PLUS immense nerve pain and associated wierdness from this condition.
