Hey TN, is the cereal deal only for this week at Publix? Do I need to get RC tomorrow?
The Honey Nut Cheerios deal? Yep, get yourself a rain check for $2.99 (I picked up a Rain Check, as the Sun Drop queens made off with the rest of the cheerios that night). The $2 off PQ is good thru the end of the month.

Happy Birthday l2bee and setsail!

But you're right, these designers are all "high-end." They aren't the same, because their long-term partnerships with T diluted the cachet of those labels. In my mind, Mossimo's not designer, it's $1 tank tops, you know? And the GO International stuff is always cute, but they're only big names to people who read Vogue. This is different because it's a pricey designer with history and it's very limited. I'd like to see more stuff that's normally a million lightyears out of my little coupon-clipping league. laugh out loud
go to new york and shop the off-price stores. i've seen bulgari and cartier at filenes basement. lots of designer brands at century 21, loehmanns, syms, etc. my sil who lives in italy likes to go to daffy's and buy cashmere sweaters for her kids that were made in italy. Rofl2

shop clearance at the end of season sales at saks, bloomingdales, barneys warehouse sale, etc and even the designers stores themselves. i got a swimsuit for $15 at the calvin klein store on 5th ave that was originally around $100 about 3-4 yrs ago. it's a real calvin klein and not the licensed underwear, socks, jeans or whatever they sell at macys, tjmaxx, marshalls and costco. it was such a popular design they made a very similar version and sold it for $30 at costco this yr. LMAO although i have to say i was disappointed w/ the calvin klein store swimsuit. the lycra in the material disintegrated and white stuff was coming out all over.

sample sales are also good places to get the real stuff and you may get lucky and get a one of kind piece for a steal. however, the sample sales the last few yrs have not been good the last few yrs along w/ the economy. the designers have gotten much more conservative and stuff is more cheaply made. so you have to look much harder for a bargain. most sample sales have also in reality become warehouse sales. still good prices but less unique.

one of the only brands i've never seen at an off-price store is tiffany's but there are plenty of knock-offs available, even at macys.

if you are ok w/ used or vintage, shop the thrift stores. sometimes they even have new stuff. there is going to be a tv show in oct about people finding designer fashion bargains at thrift stores.

go w/ either an empty suitcase or bring an old bunch of clothes to wear and replace them w/ new stuff and donate the old stuff to the salvation army. once in awhile there are slickdeals on hotels and airfare.

Got a black/grey Missoni infinity scarf for $24.99, it's really nice and seemed like a reasonable price for a nice scarf. That's the only Missoni item I wanted. The girl clothes was super cute, but I only splurge on Gymboree for my daughter when I can, it holds up well to washes.
I agree. I liked the girl clothing better then the adult clothing but I'd rather buy Gymboree (on clearance!) although I may buy something down the road if the price is right on the Missoni. I am more a "conservative" dresser but I like dressing my girls in more fun clothes which is kind of funny...considering my mom tried all my life to get me to dress that way lol.

LOVE going to NY to shop the discount/off price stores!! I live in San Antonio now, not exactly a fashion mecca. The stores we have here have a really awful selection. However, I will not be there buying (or wearing) 'mismatched designer' duds or knock off sunglasses ; )

friggin canananananada, I'm telling you.

Its so easy when I head back over the border to WA state to play "spot the canadian" They're always dressed in mismatched designer that they happened to get at the premium outlet mall...

puma shoes
juicy sweats/lululemon sweats (although they prolly paid more for the lulu's)
nike jacket
coach purse
knock off prada/gucci/guess sunglasses.

my SO, the canadian says its rude to play, but its so fun!
Funny, I'm Canadian, though I live in the US now and when we travel we always play 'spot the american'...find the one who looks like they are going to the gym or doing yard work, sweats, sneakers, shorts whatever...that would be the American. Worst dressed travelers I have ever seen...
Also have seen lots of Americans with Canadian flags on their backpacks(??!!) they stick out like a sore thumb.

Sorry, not really wanting to start a US/Canada 'thing' just thought it was funny that we played a similar game : )

AGREE, 100%

& you could do the exact same thing in Los Angeles (one reason I am less excited by Missoni & more amused ).

Went to the West Hollywood Target last night (hipster central ). As expected, not a single Missoni item to be found.

Lots of sample size Cascade (both types) on shelf --- & the reason why -- I got shot down for trying to buy ONE with ONE MQ. Price point is 1.12 for one kind 1.29 (or 1.27?) for the other.

On Topic, for anyone needing a new coupon binder or wants a backup --

Mead 3 inch binder + carry handle and strap (zipper binder)
DCPI 081 13 0331
clearanced orig 20.00 now 14.00 (30% off)

The Case-Its were also 30% but I couldn't find one with a single set of 3 rings (only doubles) that was 3 inch.

Also the Mead 1 1/2 inch zipper binders were 30%

Mossimo was one of the first of these designer "partnerships" Target entered into ( at least from the clothing field) & I remember how skewered Mossimo was in the trade mags (not fashion mags but publications for retailers).

bummer! luckily there is some access via the internet nowadays although not quite as cheap. i would do things backwards and go to the sample sales and buy stuff and then go online and see if i did good or not. it's nice when you buy stuff and it's cheaper than even overstock.com. but when i factor in transportation and meals, sometimes the costs can start to negate any savings. but not the fun factor of shopping and seeing and touching and trying on. no fun when you come home empty-handed like the last few yrs b/c of the economy. but even target has cut back big time.

and to stay on *target*, i will say that i'm impressed w/ the quality of target's fieldcrest bedding. i have a set of frette sheets from sample sale that were 4-6 times more expensive at bloomingdales, i've had ralph lauren sheets and they have not held up nearly as well as my fieldcrest duvet cover. it definitely doesn't look luxury/designer but that doesn't always mean quality.

Anyone want some $5 Kohl's coupons that expire today? Silly me bought 10 of them last week and haven't been able to find anything I want, and I don't feel like going today and scrounging through stuff just to use them. I'm ticked that the Keurig K-cups are $17.99, that's ridiculous. I bet they'll go on sale tomorrow, when I have no coupons to use.

PM me here or on Facebook [facebook.com], I'll have one of those open and will send you links to print.
Thanks Cate. I found a nice cashier that let me use all mine in one transaction.

Let me know if you can use $10 Keurig MQ. Don't know if you are planning on buying a new brewer anytime soon.

TeeheeI play the same game at home with spot the american. course if you play it at walmart us, well thats just not fair. its too easy! www.peopleofwalmart.com

Dont get me wrong...I completely understand both sides...but its hillarious to me either way.

I am one of the most laid back ppl i know, but you wont catch me dead out and about in my pj's...anywhere, canada OR usa.

Now sweats to the grocery store for last minute pick ups....maybe. But not ratty grey sweats, they're usually american eagle aerie sweats or lulu's....and reallly, its only when its laundry day.

these days, many high-end designers and fashion companies have multiple lines w/ different target audiences. being a couture designer doesn't always pay the bills. just for example donna karan, armani and calvin klein. the mossimo company is probably laughing all the way to the bank now. otherwise they would have exited the partnership long ago.

Oh yes, I quite agree but it must have been a hard decision to close your own stores & ax selling at any retailer other than a mass merchandiser when your line was carried in better department stores.

Ok..This is going to sound like a really dumb question, but can anyone give me a tip on how to make hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel? I know there has to be some kind of tried and true method. I bring my eggs to a boil, cover and let stand for 12-14 min., put immediately in ice water and peel...The last few batches have been demolished by peeling. LOL...Every once in a while I will have a batch that peel right off. Is it the date of the eggs (newer vs older) or what? Any help? You all are always so smart!! Thanks..
