Countertops were installed today. I'm dying for DH to get home so I can run over and see them!!! Scheduled a tentative closing date of Nov. 8th and I've scheduled our Native Plant Landscaper for Oct. 17th so our builder thinks we'll actually be able to close sometime between when she's done and the end of the month. Of course I had a revelation last night, that a closing date means that I have to re-pack this damn house. Ugh.
These are long gone at my stores.

2 ideas:
staples has addition workbooks and alphabet workbooks for a buck each. not sure if they can have one different one.
another idea - photocopy one of the workbooks. i realize no kid wants a different one than the other kids, but hey, maybe if it's decorated, they'll be excited about it.

For all the coffee lovers, be on the lookout for new Coffeemate seasonal flavors. I got Brown Sugar Maple Latte and Warm Cinnamon Sugar Cookie today.
Yes, you can. You are handy, you can do it. Trot your butt to Menards and get a package of drywall repair clips.......
I will study that.
The hole itself is only about 1 ft. max away from cabinets in my kitchen.
So how will I get that big area to match the rest of the walls? They have a bit of texture to them.
Perhaps I should take a picture.
Maybe I should just tile the whole stinkin' wall
.....oh wait, if we ever had to access the shower again that'd be even more difficult to fix!

I found packing to be much better than unpacking

A foot away from the cabinets -- don't worry about it, just blend your way out as well as you can. Honestly, you are replacing the drywall, so now you are just fixing a big ole crack. It will be fine.
As to the texture -- since you say "a little" I am going to assume it's a knock down or an orange peel and not a heavy stucco type texture. You just made your job easier. You aren't going for baby butt smooth. Now you are replicating a texture. That, you will just have to play with.
Put the piece back, tape it, fill it, blend it, sand it -- the first time. Now, it's pretty well filled in so do it again to finish blending it into the surrounding and this time if it looks ready you can replicate the texture. If you can show me an up close picture of the texture DH can probably tell you how to get it. If it's just kind of bumpley -- dabbing the still wet compound with a soft, damp sponge will probably do it. If it's a knockdown or orange peel, I can't remember, I haven't done it, but DH can tell ya how.

since you have to repaint the wall anyway, would you consider using some sort of texture technique that will disguise the patch some more?
