Pioneer Woman's version [thepioneerwoman.com]
drool That's the version I did too! DH had these polished off in no time laugh out loud We had homemade vanilla ice cream to put on top at the time Faint

OK, funny story. Up until today dd has wanted NOTHING to do with writing or practicing letters - even "practicing" as in I-don't-care-if-you-just-scribble-a-line-at-the-top-of-the-paper-I-just-want-to-know-that-you're-trying laugh out loud She just throws a fit if I even mention trying to write her name or learn to write letters. It has been ridiculous. Anyway, so today she wanted to color and I got out the paper and washable markers and went down to start laundry. I come upstairs and she has clearly written an A, L, M, and number 4 on her paper. OMG She later added an E. SHE IS SOOOOO STUBBORN!!! I think she has known all this time but just wouldn't do it. They have a letter/number of the day/week or whatever at school and have them do the papers where they practice writing letters but they usually come home in her folder blank because she apparently will not participate. Some of these letters she wrote today haven't even been the ones they've covered there. And I sure as to heck haven't "worked" on them at home because well, it's not worth the fit to push it right now. Now where in the heck did she come up with this. I mean, these were NOT sloppy first-time letters either. They were very well formed, legible, etc. Confused Kids.

Much talk about cheesecake in deals. Not carried in my store. I have not noticed any great deals at Target.
This. Exactly. And none of my stores has any great clearance if any clearance at all. Very small amounts if any. And what I am finding is only a measley 10 or 15% off so it's not even a deal. Almost no clothing too. Weird.

on lunch break from jury duty, looks like I might not get chosen, but lawyer is still questioning jurors. I'm #26 and they are going in order, so I'm way far down the list from the 12 they need.

how else would you learn the different ways to put away socks? or fold fitted sheets neatly? or roll up/fold towels? life skills/pop culture skills are these... kids wouldn't make cool teens unless they know these things and have some attitude and style about it. you tell 'em that. laugh out loud

Crying So sad that my store doesn't sell the 40 oz cheese cake. They did have a smaller size but it was only a dollar off and they shelf was wiped clean. The nearest store that has some is 75 miles away in a city I have never heard of. I can't justify driving that far cheesecake.
.....
don't be sad. if you got that cheesecake, you would eat it all up. and then you'd have to run 75 miles to work it off. instead you can sit on your couch, and enjoy slimmer hips and a flatter belly AND not have blisters from running a triple marathon. howzzat for nice?

Ok, need some advice on a Target order. I ordered desk but decided to canceled the order. My account was never charged but they shipped the desk anyway (huh?). I tried to call Target to pick up the desk but the rep told me to that I have to pay for shipping or haul it back to the store to return it (double huh?) I live alone, the box weighs a ton, and it doesn't fit into my itsy bitsy car. Should I keep the (free?) desk or try to call Target again?

Well they picked me, they only kept 3 of the original 13 and I was the last person they switched out. Oh well, will do my duty. I'm glad I live just about 2 miles from the courthouse, in fact, it's right across from Target! The worse part is the parking situation, I never park so far out and then I got rained on quite heavily today when I returned from lunch. I'm thinking of getting there early tomorrow to just try and get a closer space.

Second degree identity theft is all I will say for now. Gator's gonna come and say I shouldn't even say that much probably. laugh out loud

many courthouses have spots reserved for jurors. now that you're empaneled, it's worth asking in the clerk's office.

and yes, please don't discuss anything about the case with us. laugh out loud

Thank you for the annivesary wishes peeps <3
DH got home Sunday morning so I made our annivesary dinner that day. Hope we will go out soon.

chillllllly here, too nik. i relate. We got frost and freeze warnings this week already. shudder.
but in a random about turn, they said this weekend we're going to get a spell of Indian Summer - 70-83. whaaaaa? I'm excited.

Nik, why do you say you'll never get to travel? Not true. If traveling is what you dream of doing, then travel you will. Just hold fast to the dream and wish.
Thanks for the annivesary wishes hug It has been chilly every single day. I hope we get a few more days that it warms up but it is not looking good.

Our DS is only 2 so it just seems so far off that we would be able to go globe trotting to some far away place. I guess time really does fly so the empty nest may arrive before I expect it will.

Does anyone know if you can combine a 10% and a $10/$50 at Lowes?
Awe, thanks! It did. I know I can't believe it either. We had such a late and long lasting winter, it seems like summer had just started and then it was over. BOO! I have no idea about Lowes but I would just try it if I were you if you don't find out before you go Wink

Good morning guys Wave just checking in from vacation. We are on day #4. We have enjoyed Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios so far... having a great time but the weather could be better. It actually rained every minute of our day yesterday. We put on ponchos and just went with it. By 7 pm we were all ready to go. Todays forecast calls for heavy down pours again, so we decided to take today off.. hoping for some sunshine tomorrow!

hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
Glad your having a good time despite the rain. Hopefully the lines are a lot shorter.

Awwwe..Sorry for the crappy weather. But I say a day at Disney in the rain, is better than no Disney at all. But we have walked those parks many times wearing those wonderful Mickey ponchos. LOL Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
I agree.

i would call one more time and try to get them to pick it up. it is not your responsibility to take it to the store since you canceled your order. i think the rep did not exactly understand the situation. but if they still don't make arrangements to pick it up, as long as you canceled the order, they didn't charge you and you in good faith tried to get them to take it back, i think you can in good conscience keep it. it is their mistake, not yours and if they don't want to fix it, then they are abandoning their property.

hey guys, i just discovered a very cool site... (THRIFT, i was thinking of you in particular when I saw this)

it's called naturalcandystore.com

all the candy they have is free of artificial colors, flavors, dyes, preservatives and sweeteners, and have no hydrogenated oils. they also carry some organic candy.

prices seem pretty comparable to regular artificial candy.

but the best part, they have a program where everytime someone uses your referral link and signs up and places an order, you get $5. so that's a good way to introduce friends/family to the site and then use $s for getting some candy for the kidlets.

just thought i'd mention it for those of you who are trying to buy candy for halloween. they also have candies that fit under the feingold diet stage 1 and stage 2 (for thrift and whoever else here that was thinking of going that route with the kidlets).

totally understandable, but don't give up on your traveling dreams. the little one may enjoy it. not the same as traveling as a couple, but on the flip side, traveling with kids can be fun sometimes. we traveled extensively as kids - one of my earliest memories is being in an airplane and grabbing fistfuls of candy when the stewardess came around Facepalm
i want to say i took my first plane ride as a 1 or 2 year old. i don't remember those early ones, but I remember the one where I was 2.5 or 3.

a dear friend of mine has 4 kids ranging from 1 yr old to 8 yrs old. they've been to numerous latin american countries and middle eastern countries with the kids already. and another one has 2 kids under 4. they've been to israel, canada, australia, new zealand, and europe with the kidlets.

so, it's doable. just keep looking at your dream vacation spots and trying to save and thinking of what you'd like to do there. and then it will happen!

Good Morning!!
Since there isn't much going on at T, I have been doing alot more shopping at WM..(EEK..I know lol) but If you want a little O, I noticed that there is a $1.50 Breathe Right 12ct or Smaller mq in this next Sundays insert. I 'think' I saw some of the 2pk trial size at WM for 99c. Every little bit would add up, esp. if you add that to some of the other O cpns out there.

I was told awhile back that our Target was going to be turned into a PFresh. Then our area was hit by a major tornado, so just kinda figured that with all the major destruction in town that they had scrapped that idea, but I read on the deals board that ALL targets would be Pfresh by 2012. So there is still hope. (mainly just want a chance at good deals like cheesecake! LOL)

Morning, everyone! Feels like a Monday morning, after a long weekend. But that's nice, 'cause it makes the week shorter. Wink

Trying to figure out my deals for this week, and as usual my brain is on information overload. shake head I want to try to get to Harris Teeter and get the free cookware rebate thingie. Gotta gather the coupons first.

Off to check the recycling center. I've been having better luck there lately, so I'm hoping for great things today!

good morning Yawn

not finding much in the way of clearance except various crayola and XL twin bedding for my nephew who will go to college next sept and it was pretty much wiped out in my area.

yesterday in my supermarket thread, another sd'er who has been around a yr longer than me and i've seen here and there, complained the cashier said her q's were gang cut and refused to take them. so i asked if they'd gone to a location near me. guess what? she lives in the same township laugh out loud! our supermarket of choice doesn't have a location w/in our town, so we have to go to neighboring towns for groceries every wk and some locations are better than others (if anybody saw that stupid drama in deals last wk). every town around us has one except us and supposedly the owners are on the fence about opening one here, 50/50 for and against, even though they have a warehouse in my town cuz we are right off a major north/south highway in the state. so not holding my breath but it would be awesome. just hope they do not decide to open in a nearby location not in my town that was closed by another grocery chain in our area that's been having problems. even better if they could take over one of the 2 stop and shops in my town cuz they are overpriced and always empty and i don't know how they stay in business.

saturday we went to a buick/food and wine event. dh test drove a buick enclave while i checked out the 2nd and 3rd rows. i was very impressed, esp for an american suv/crossover, very well thought out, great leg room in 2nd and 3rd rows, still had plenty of cargo room w/ the 3rd row up, can seat up to 8, takes regular gasoline, and starts at 35K. friend we had dinner w/ last nite said the enclave has good reviews. and this is from someone who went to germany to pick up his leased bmw which is in the shop for the 5th or 6th time and he is swearing off bmw.

we also saw cooking demonstrations, one by a guy at moto restaurant in chicago where food is more like a science experiment. he made caramel soy sauce ice cream in a mixer w/ liquid nitrogen and these s'mores bombs by blending milk and graham crackers, freezing it in a sphere ice cube mold, dipping it into chocolate, refrigerating it so the milk would turn back to liquid and then sticking a fried yam noodle in the skewer hole and lighting it so it would look like a bomb and have that toasty burnt flavor of s'mores. at first dh said we should check out the restaurant if we ever go back to chicago, but the more we thought about it decided that it wasn't for us b/c those desserts were funky, not delicious. the graham cracker flavored milk was just so-so. i think it would have been better if they'd blended marshmallow fluff w/ graham crackers. we decided we didn't want to pay lots of money for so-so tasting food cuz the way it was prepared is not all that important to us.

saw another chef from cleveland ohio who emplasizes using local ingredients make a ratatouille and goat cheese stuffed squash blossom. it was ok, i think the grilled olives were a little overpowering and could not taste the herbs de provence.

then we had a wine tasting w/ a glass of red and a glass of white. the guy leading the class was very educational and very funny. very interesting how the dry white wine tasted so different, sweeter and more palatable, after sucking on a lemon wedge which was like a vinaigrette on a salad. and the red wine tasted different after a slice of pecorino romano. i may ask my sil to bring a wedge of pecorino w/ her at thanksgiving. nice cheese.

final cooking demo was by ming tsai and i'd heard some not so good things about him but he was very entertaining and witty.

at the beginning they'd told everyone that instead of giving out swag bags, they'd made a donation to feed.org whose ceo is lauren bush, daughter of the former pres. but at the end we all got a signed copy of ming tsai's latest cookbook. had a very nice time. too bad we didn't bring a camera. the liquid nitrogen vapors coming out of the mixer and flowing over the table and down to the floor was very dramatic and we could have gotten a picture w/ ming tsai.

sunday went apple picking again. lots of traffic! all the orchards by me were picked clean on saturday so we ended up going back to the one i went to a couple wks ago. lots of people there, you had to look hard for good apples and it was sunny and hot. but everybody had a good time. i got more golden delicious, fuji, stayman winesap and a couple rome beauty. would have liked to have gotten more apple cider donuts at the nearby market but bff didn't want to deal w/ the traffic there.

yesterday met my goddaughter and her family for dinner after they went to six flags. her father found a $27 per person deal that included safari and park entrance. the code is good for the next 2 wknds. went to cheese cake factory and i got the steak diane and herb crusted salmon combo. steak diane and mashed potatoes were very tasty. her mom's caesar salad was huge! too full to eat any cheesecakelaugh out loud
