I SO almost asked you if there were any homeopathic remedies for pink eye this wknd. DD had the start of it Saturday and I was like UGH seriously on the wknd. when the Dr. isn't open and we'd have to go to urgent care just for eye drops ($35 copay) !!! Or miss school this week before we could get to her reg. dr. and she could get them started...and there's way too much going on this week for this
get it and keep it. it's tiny sugar pills, so easy to take for kids.
similasan IS homeopathic. what they do is make a cocktail of homeo remedies and put it in a bottle, so if one med in there doesn't effect you, another will. for example, the similasan pink eye drops have 3 homeo remedies in it (including euphrasia). it's a good thing to have on hand, and definitely useful when you can't reach a homeopath or don't know the basic remedy for the condition.
they're a good company.
i've used their earache drops. works like magic.
p.s. if there are certain things that your family goes through regularly (heartburn, upset stomach, nausea, pink eye, bruises, whatever...) it's worth learning the basic remedies for each and keeping them on hand. they're VERY effective, with no side effects, and very handy. that's what we do.
a great all around digestive remedy for upset stomach/sour stomach/indigestion/mild food poisoning kind of thing from some food/occasional (not chronic) constipation - Nux Vomica 30c. I never travel without it.
heartburn - Iris Ver 30c
nausea - Ipecac 30c
tonsilitis - Phytolacca 30c
Bumps, bruises, injuries - Arnica 30c
Cuts, wounds - Calendula Q (mother tincture - i.e. pure extract, to apply; it will sting)
Pink Eye - Euphrasia 30c
Stye in the eye - Pulsatilla 30c
A great general remedy: Kali Phos 6x
good for vertigo, headaches, nerve pain, menstrual cramps, during fevers, toothaches. and much more. pretty much if you are in pain, or feeling weak and dizzy, Kali Phos is great. It's just a cell salt found naturally in our bodies and works amazingly well. The pills look different than the other remedies. They're softer. Dissolve about 4-6 pills in about 2-3 teaspoons of hot water and drink up. You can take it every half hour or every hour. It's wondrous.
And for when kids have fevers, do
Ferrum Phos 6x
Kali Phos 6x
Natrum Mur 6x
in half hour intervals cyclically. So first FP in two teaspoons of water, then half hour later KP, then half hour later NM. and so forth. It breaks the fever, helps with the exhaustion etc.
We were stocked up with these remedies at home, cos as kids one of us was always sick (it went in cycles, poor Mum) and this trio never failed us. And we got some serious infections from being in random places around the world. Amazing meds.
Me, too. And glad the DH won't be touching the garage door!
Thank you... will do.
So does the subway go under the water too
I had to put all these places on Google maps but I do think I understand a bit better after my studies
No high heels here....don't even own a pair .
No heels?
Trains and the highways go under water in several cities in the US. I hate those tunnels though. Hate em. Especially when driving through one, you can feel the pressure change, and it just goes on and on and on forever. I just feel trapped.
So, do not ever ever ever mess with garage doors.
We have the roll up ones that have a door opener, well the spring on it has broken twice, we have lived here 11 years. My dh looked to see if he could replace it but decided he would not even chance it. Glad he didn't.

Good idea on the water bottles, hadn't thought of that....planned on the umbrellas...although the forecast at this point is looking to be absolutely gorgeous
you will also most likely be on the LIE (long island expressway) to go into midtown manhattan. in the 70's it's nickname was the longest parking lot in the world.
scroll down to *transportation on long island*-
quote- Indeed, locals refer to Long Island Expressway as "The World's Longest Parking Lot".

unless you take public transportation into the city, most likely they will go over the 59th street/queensboro bridge that is in the title of simon and garfunkel's song. if you sit on the left side, you should get a good view of midtown and lower manhattan and all the east river bridges (williamsburg, manhattan and brooklyn bridges)
http://www.lyrics007.c
all the subways in manhattan run underground. all the subways run under the rivers except the J, M and Z which cross over the williamsburg bridge and the B, D, N and Q which go over the manhattan bridge. i'm not familiar w/ the subways in brooklyn so i don't know if they stay elevated or stay underground, go back underground or become elevated. in the outer buroughs some of them become elevated like the 4, 5,7, N, and R, the #7 goes back down underground for the last stop, others like the E, F, G trains stay underground till the last stop in queens. i do believe the F train becomes elevated in brooklyn.
when you going to a subway stop, try to make sure there is a green globe at the entrance. if it is red, it may be exit only and/or may be locked. also, many stops are local and go in one direction, uptown or downtown, east or west. so be sure to check the entrance that the subway is going in the direction you want to go in. nothing is more annoying than having to ride 3 extra stops in the wrong direction to cross over or under to go in the right direction and have to wait for another train. entrance to go the other way is usually across the street. uptown is on the right side of the street, downtown is on the left side of the street, just like the traffic when facing north.
be sure to pay attention which station you are supposed to get off and move towards the doors b4 the train stops if the subway car is crowded. people miss their stop all the time and have to go to the next express stop to transfer in the other direction. even worse to miss the last stop in manhattan and go to brooklyn, queens or the bronx when you didn't mean to. the river crossings take longer and then you have to find a transfer stop and go back. don't hesitate to ask someone in the car if the train is going to XXXXX stop, if the stop is coming up, and check the subway map that is near each end of the subway car. people don't always know every stop on their line, but if you ask somebody who doesn't know, somebody else will usually chime in and tell you. try to always ride in the middle of the subway. you will see the conductor stick his/her head out from the 5th or 6th car or the window will be open. always check w/ the bus driver if the bus is going to stop where you want it to b4 you pay your fare.
bring lots of layers. can get very chilly at night. also in stores, restaurants and buses.
manhattan is full of great shopping for every budget and no need to shop at places you have at home too. century 21 for clothes, accessories and housewares is across the street from the world trade center memorial and is famous among locals and tourists alike. i like to go to *lot for less* closeout stores when i am downtown. daffy's is good for italian and designer clothing and accessories w/ multiple locations and another favorite of my italian sil. other discount stores include filenes basement, tjmaxx and loehmanns. you wouldn't think so but you can find bargains at high end dept stores like bloomingdales, saks, lord and taylor and macys if you look hard enough and get lucky. it's nice to just browse in them also. also nice to look at is tiffanys, cartier, henri bendels, hello kitty store, sony store, etc. lots and lots of shopping and eating in manhattan. the problem is picking where you should go. lord and taylors, macys, filenes basement and some other stores sometimes have coupons. you can find them on their websites most of the time. i don't go shopping at those stores w/o q's.
I went back to work today after being off almost 2 weeks.. boy was it hard going back! But, I am almost done with my 12 hours now, so it is all good. I have eaten so bad the last few weeks.. And even though I like the junk food, I am tired of it. Ate pretty good today and I am making some meal plans for the rest of the week
We are gonna get some cooler weather here by mid week and I am pretty excited about it. Even gonna get into the upper 30's at night
.....
Already primed and painted
no pics?! why not?! so when do they tell you that?
no pics because of national security reasons.
they don't want people getting aerial shots of a major airport and civilian buildings/neighborhoods around it and then use it for terrorism.
it's federal law actually: you cannot photograph certain government buildings etc. if you're inside an airport, you'll never be allowed to take photographs at the security checkpoints etc.

international airlines and flights have different rules. i didn't know at that time quantas would let you take pictures during takeoff and landing until i was reading the inflight magazine after we took off from sydney in 2006. there were some beautiful ocean cliff pictures that i missed
it's too bad. i have gotten some good pics on the tarmac in denver i think and flying into ny.
