SNS has pacific organic chicken stock on sale for 2.50 a container on peapod, so it's likely that price or lower in store, in case you need any and need to use your gc cats.
also, their nature's promise organic stock is a buck a container!

see, again sns is more expensive. last fall/winter i got pacific around 1.89 more or less at shoprite and/or wegmans on sale. it's also available at costco in a 6pk but i need to buy the low sodium kind b/c i usually make it as a noodle soup or wonton soup and one serving will be about 15oz which comes out way over 1000mg sodium if you use the regular kind. it's just too much. i usually add a little sesame oil and white pepper for flavoring so that much salt is totally unnecessary.
the nature's promise stock sounds interesting. i would try it for 1.00. totally confused all the time about the difference bet broth and stock but i'm sure you can adjust it for what you are using it for.
i have to go back to whole foods. i got confused about the imagine broth deal and didn't buy. i think it comes out to 1.00 after ip + wfq. i hope my q's and the sale didn't expire. i will go today or tomorrow.
let me know how the peapod thing works out. i'm curious.

babes, pacific has printables on its website and there are some hard cpy coupons on the bay. i'm going to buy one set.
so, with a 1/1 it would be 1.50 a container. that's better than imagine.
i used to get confuzzled with broth and stock also. then i made myself remember stock =slimmer; broth = bigger.
stock is generally made with bones and a few light trimmings of meat. if you took mostly cleaned off bones from a roast turkey or chicken that you made and then boiled with water, herbs, salt etc, you'd have stock. it's almost clear.
broth is richer than stock. and murkier. one generally uses more meat to make broth.
i totally agree that the nature's promise organic versions are worth trying for a buck. check em out on the peapod site.
peapod... i have often used their site to do price checks on items. i like doing that!
peapod has an order minimum of $60 before discounts. then they charge a 9.95 delivery fee for orders under $100 and 6.95 for orders over $100. Plus there's a $0.98 fuel surcharge.
That's where the SD'ng comes in. There's a first time order coupon code for $15 off your order. So that takes care of the delivery fee and gives you $5 towards your order. And if you select particular "greener" delivery windows, there's a $1-$2 discount on delivery, so that takes care of fuel surcharge.
So the way it works is:
$60 in order
- approx $5 discount
= $55
and then you give the driver a sealed envelope with any coupons you have for the order, and write your order number on the envelope.
just like in store, they double coupons up to $0.99
they will apply the coupons to your order and refund the money to your card.
Pain = you gotta pay the money up front.
Not slick = you can't avail of the Catalina benefits.
BUT, you save on gas. and you don't have to lug the groceries in (big plus for someone in my position). Plus, right now if you're me doing shopping, you have to wait till a car-driving tribal creature is available to take you, which given everyone's schedules could be weeks and generally comes with attendant alien drama
so all told, this saves me much grief-getting, and saves me on car costs, i'm thinking.
Peapod has an offer that after the first order, shipping is free for the next i-don't-know-how-many-months. so that's great, too.

Only thing is I might have had more cats and broken up my order to get a bigger discount. But then I would have paid for gas and car. So it evens out, I think.

one time i ordered sneakers at sears online for instore pickup. they gave me the display model w/ the plastic holder for the price tag still on it. i went in the store and they had boxes of new ones in my size never opened on the shelf.
If I were in your position with the limited transportation and mobility at the moment, I would definitely go for it

been a crazy week.. My sister made a last minute trip into town to handle some custody issues with her grandkids.. Which means, my schedule has been seriously disrupted with picking her up, entertaining her, and hauling her around. I enjoy visiting with her, but so many things around here have been neglected all week. Including my housework and my shopping. I have a *huge* stack of 10/31 expiring coupons that haven't been touched

i *think* they give fresh stuff. but it's conjecture on my part. pure conjecture.
reason: this neighborhood is well off young professionals and older couples. Which means a) good food cooked at home and b) almost everyone has nice cars that they can drive to the store to get groceries. so if Peapod was terrible they wouldn't order from them. I see the Peapod truck in my neighborhood several days a week with lots of bags, often packed with produce you can clearly see over the top.
Clearly they are popular. Whole Foods delivers here for 5 bucks for a $50 minimum purchase, free with a $150 purchase. That's some hefty competition. So Peapod must be good enough that people would choose to get stuff from there.
when you get time, go back and read that post. i laid out for you how peapod works, since you wanted to know. just in case you order at any time in the future. i'll let you know about quality as soon as I get it.
also re imagine vs pacific, don't know about the chicken one, but veggie broth - i like the imagine low sodium one far better than the pacific one. the pacific one tastes very carroty and muddy. just fyi, in case you ever purchase veggie broth. we use it a lot, so i had to do taste tests.

the prices are about the same as in store. for example, the mushrooms are cheaper than other places, but the cauliflower or scallions - identical price. etc. i deliberately comparison shopped in my head. so for example the muir glen pasta sauces were much more expensive (they always are at Stop n Shop, dunno why) so I didn't get those online.
i've been cherry-picking different online ordering places the last few days, with price comparisons in my head to get the best deals. ordered some from amazon, some from vitacost. did the abes market deal yesterday and ordered some stuff from there. now peapod.
but still, even with the slick thoughts,
so i figured, at best I am paying the very same amount of money I would pay in store, but saving on car/gas and getting it delivered to my kitchen.
somethings are cheaper, plus I get the $5 off (it's like a cat), so at best I'm saving a little bit. those dove bars are killing me. no coupon, so much junk

i had house guests last week and loved it, BUT it also meant that tons of stuff got shoved to the side, both literally and figuratively. totally hear what you are saying.
