My main computer seems to have died. Will not turn on but shows power is getting to it thru power cord (as in the green light in back is on). So my problem is my wireless router is connected to this. Now when I try to print from my laptop (wirelessly) it won't print because it technically goes "thru" my main computer modem. Does that make sense? lol...Wonder how to bypass that and just get my laptop to print wirelessly? My printer on my laptop says 'photosmart on David's pc" but shows it offline due to my computer being down. What can I do?

or if your wireless router is also a printer server, you could hook up your router directly to your modem or whatever box you access your internet thru and then hook your printer up to it and then you could still print wirelessly.
if you recall my situation, my dh refused to help me get the wireless router w/ printer server up and running a couple yrs ago when i had problems hooking it up. instead he finally opened the wireless router his company had supplied him w/ and was just lying around for months if not yrs and hooked that up instead. but it doesn't have printer server capability, so when he wants to print, he has to unplug the printer from the desktop and plug it into his laptop.
he said he would rather do that every few days rather than hook up the router i spent $50 on and be able to print whenever just as long as the printer was on.
now i want to be able to print from my ipad2 but the printer must be wireless so i asked him to hook up the router w/ the printer server and first time he said maybe the one already hooked up has this capability.

Thanks ST..Yes I did figure out (thanks to DD) to just hook my printer up to my laptop to get some q's printed (that was my real stress lol Not being abe to print). I use the modem in my main computer to run my router. I know there has to be a way to hook everything up to the router, minus the main computer, and use it as a print server. At least I would think there is.
DH shut it down last night using the on screen shut down because it was storming here. I woke up today to restart it and nothing would happen. Everything else in the house works, everything else attached to the powerstrip works. So that has to be it. Here is hoping it is simple cause this would cause a serious damper on my vacation budget!

And, I love being able to keep up with friends and family. I agree that some people post way too much info on there.. And some of it inappropriate.. but, I don't get into the drama.. I like that I can keep up with my nieces, nephews, and their kids..
