greatland format target halloween clearance was pretty cleaned out. did manage to get a box of each of the clif bars to try. one pk of orange solo cups, one pk of blk lidded kids cups although .89 still seems kinda expensive to me..... and a darth maul lightsaber.
nearest store had power restored and prices downloaded. pretty much everything was still there except pirates booty and halloween napkins that had been mixed into the reg aisle. i only got one pirates booty b/c the night b4 i'd gone alllllll the way to the registers to price check to find out everything was reg price and i just stuck it all on a clearance endcap in food rather than go alllllllll the way back. i think people buy the seasonal bounty paper towels full price b/c i didn't see a one that night everything was full price. puffs either.
got lots of snacks at 70% off, one of each to try, mp fruit snacks cuz dh liked them last time they were 90% off summer mini-seasonal, lucky charms, butterfinger covered pretzels though now i see people in deals are disappointed in the amt in the bags, herr's choco covered pretzels, the big tins of popcorn. i got 2 each of the annies kettle corn and white cheese kettle corn. hope i did not overdo it w/ the snacks. was weird how the rice krispy treats and and krave was still 50% off. i did not get the fruit roll-ups either b/c they have partially-hydrogenated fats in them even though it's less than .5% per serving so the gov't lets them put 0% trans fats even though that is not the case. i'm willing to go for shorter exp dates if they don't put that stuff in. it's totally doable. anyway there were plenty of snacks to buy w/o it. i need to start working on eliminating or lessening other stuff in my diet, like preservatives but it's difficult to go cold turkey.
and sometimes it's really difficult in emergencies. we didn't eat any veggies the 2 days the power was out b/c now i don't buy canned corn anymore and i never liked other canned veggies. but all the rest of my veggies were frozen and i couldn't open the freezer. so only veggies would have been from canned soup (yes, also bad, but from last yr and i wasn't going to buy anymore) and pasta sauce. we did eat fruit. we still had a couple bananas and i had the fruit cups.
debating whether i should go back and check out costumes b4 it gets even more devastated for italy sil.
forecast is for snow tonite and then rain will wash it way. ugh! second yr in a row we get snow way b4 thanksgiving. it used to be we would wonder if we were getting a white xmas which was rare. now we are getting these crazy storms in oct/nov w/ snow.
spent much of the day yesterday pulling from my stockpile to donate instead of going to target for 90% off halloween clearance. i know i really missed out b/c there was a lot left the night b4 b/c they didn't put any clearance signs up b/c the prices were all over the place. so if i'd gone in the morning i would have had a good chance of scoring. there were 2 boxes of krave left, one smooshed, so i got the one and will get to try it. i did buy my snacks at 70% off b/c i'm not good at getting up early and checking the store every day.
there was still a practically full gondola of frankenberry, booberry and count chocula b/c it's around the corner from the dollar spot and still signed 2.66. i only got dh one of each.
it was amazing how the pirates booty and halloween play doh totally disappeared at 70% w/ no signs whatsoever but there was lots left of most other stuff. i realized that hefty and paper towels for some reason disappear at full price so i will never get those. obviously there are some regulars who go pinpoint specific things every season and that's why i've never been able to get them on clearance. include the hotwheels 5pks in there. i will have to be an early bird to ever get those things.
Not sure anyone read this but w/ all YMMV T clearance.. I'm up for a JCP 25c clothing hunt.
hope everyone has a good wknd. i think xmas sales are starting even earlier this yr, this wknd. traditionally macys has it's one day sale the wed b4 black friday which is one of the best sales of the entire yr. i know b/c i normally shop that sale every yr for small appliances, pillows, t-necks, etc. this yr they are having it today w/ lowest prices of the season. unless they have another one day sale next wed? don't see it.
i'll probably be shopping at the outlets this wknd. w/o asking her like we usually have to do, italy sil emailed her kids clothing sizes and her preferred brands, ralph lauren for boys and crewcuts and a&f for girls. she's coming on xmas day this yr instead of for thanksgiving, b/c she changed jobs and it wasn't 6 months yet by thanksgiving.
and going to superwalmart probably every day for the next 3 days.
