Maybe next year (I'm not planning to go back to the Madison Target... the other two in Huntsville are Super Targets).
I am wanting to branch out into shopping the drugstores too, just not sure which would be better to start with between Wags and Rite Aid. I have 2 Wags and 2 Rite Aids within 5 miles of me, so distance isn't an issue. I only have 1 CVS within 30 miles of me in the next city, and with all the couponers in my area they run out of stock very quickly, so I want to save that store for last.
Between Rite Aid and Wags, which is easier (in a coupon sense, lol) to start with, learning-wise? Which would, in your opinion, have a lessor OOP start-up cost (since I know to maximize savings you roll rewards)? Any input on either store would be awesome and very much appreciated

one thing about doing drugstores is that you have to be very dedicated. you only have 2 wks to roll register rewards at wags. another thing is you end up with a lot of stuff you don't use for yourself to roll rewards back and forth or roll ecbs. it's ok if you already yard sale, but if you read carefully there are times waggers have actually mailed stuff free to people who actually need the products they've accumulated but have no use for. not that this doesn't happen at target too.
if you use a lot of hba products like makeup, hair products, etc it's good. i'm a simple person and had a hard time cashing out my ecbs. i stopped when i was making special trips to buy tide for my bff to resell to cash out my ecbs. i was shopping for her so she could turn a profit. another iffy thing is the personnel at the store. at the wags by me they would only let me use 1 RR per transaction. there is no way to do the deals that way. cvs is a lot easier, but for you the distance is prohibitive.
i don't know anything about rite-aid so i have no advice to give.
i know i'll come up w/ other stuff that i'll post later.

with rite aid you can no longer use the ups right away. it can be printed on the receipt or loaded to card but needs to be used next day. i stopped ra bc of that bc one would need to make multiple trips to use the rewards. just too time consuming. but if u have ones close by it may not be too bad. also to maximize savings at ra u would need to have their video values acct where u watch short videos and print out vv ra qs. it used to be that they didnt link or prohibit multiple vv accts to one ra card. but i think that has changed now.
overall if u have time..id say cvs is simipler bc u dont need to watch vids etc. but it is not convenient for u since it isnt nearby. rite aid is easy but to maximize savings u need to watch the vvs, which is doable. i think there are ways around printing the ra vv qs of multiple accts on one machine via incognito but to use them u probably need 2 ra accts now. it used to be that u could have multiple vv accts and use on one card. moot pt now.
overall depending on your grocery stores and qs etc. doing the deals there might overtime be more time and cost efficient bc less back and forth going to roll rewards or cash out and or watching videos etc.

the unfunny part is they don't require smoke detectors and one time she had a bad fire in her apt from an unattended candle in the dining room after dinner. so never, ever leave candles unattended! next time she came i bought her smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to take home and even got a letter from the NTSB for her to take them onboard b/c they are slightly radioactive. but they said ultimately it is up to the official there at the time whether they can bring them onboard the plane or not.

Yes we do have it good, although we all have certainly been made aware of the hunger issues we really can't wrap our heads around all that goes with that a lot of times.

Those are some good ideas I hadn't thought about. This year we used a lot of the dollar spot clearance stuff from target and seasonal. We filled ours with bubbles, chalk, crayons, coloring books, markers, hair accessories, crowns, combs, princess wands, Legos, cars, toothbrushes, toothpaste, candy, small dolls, Chapstick, etc.. Plus we will do socks, gloves and those type items too.
Any good ideas for boys? I always have trouble with that , but I always htink condoms...no, no LOL

for instance in the past yr i've taken up collecting and donating freebies from shoprite to the township food pantry. this is in addition to collecting campbell's barcodes for the township library, collecting terracycle items for the senior citizen's center, boxtops for friend's schools, etc. i shop all yr round for many bday and xmas gifts and i don't think i have it in me to focus on shopping for more *gifts* during the holidays so i don't do angel tree, shoe boxes, etc. i prefer to just accumulate and then go thru my stash whenever there is a collection for the troops, natural disasters like sandy, etc. just found out a nearby library is collecting shoes and i happen to have some that are just too small so i'm happy to donate them. but i pick and choose what i do.
religious charities on the whole do get very high marks for passing almost all the monies they collect to the people they are helping. the don't spend a lot of money on administration or the top echelon getting huge salaries and not much money going to the people they are supposedly helping.
this website can help in selecting an organization you are comfortable with. it mainly focuses on the financials, but it's a great place to start, find out their objectives or check that what you are donating reaches the people you are donating to and doesn't get diverted.
