To set the context, this wasn't the type of cashier who scans coupons without even looking at the qs or even caring much about them. This cashier was the kind of cashier who lays out all your coupons on the counter in groups, making sure there aren't more than four like coupons, and verifying that they're for products you've indeed purchased. This cashier saw to it that they were being used properly, within Target's rules, at least.
So, while scanning my coupons, a couple of which were newly expired, the cashier notes, "Oh, this one's expired... But we take expired coupons, so that's good."
He continues scanning my coupons. Then, with no prompting by me whatsoever, says, "You know people ask me all the time how far back we'll take expired coupons."
I thought to myself, he'll probably say two weeks or something like that.
"But, I tell you," he continues, "If someone brought in a coupon that was expired like even one or two years, I'd accept it just for their dedication. You know? I just couldn't bring myself to reject it. Not with that kind of dedication."
At first, I was simply stunned, as this wasn't at all what I thought he was going to say. Then I laughed. Not the "are-you-kidding-me?" kind of laugh, but the good kind. The kind that melts some of life's tensions away and leaves you feeling warm and light. That's the only way I can describe it. And I'll never forget it.
Regarding my PM... yep it sucks. I wish there was an upgrade to that situation: the longer you are here, or more posts you have or something.

Anyway, I've never been refused an expired q at that particular Target. They have the BEST employees there and are the lowest-priced of the five Targets I regularly go to. Let's hope it stays that way.
Only downside to their accepting expireds is my organizers are overflowing with qs now that I don't clean the expireds out regularly. I'll have to put together an organizer with expireds for my Target runs soon or I'll lose my mind... But I'm not complaining.
Thanks for PMing me and clarifying some details regarding rep giving. About increasing rep limits with experience, perhaps their thinking is that the more reps/posts/experience you have, the more discerning you become in regards to giving reps. I don't agree with this necessarily, but it might just be their thinking, if any thought is given to the matter at all. Personally, I agree with you that members should earn more as they gain post count, experience, etc. The more "perks" you can earn, the better.

so wish we could tag people like facebook! that *friend* function is still operative, but as far as i know it doesn't really do anything. they should make it so you can tag your friends.
