Red clay soil means I haven't tried to grow any flowers/veggies since I moved here in 2000. It's hard as a brick during the summer. I'm amazed that grass/weeds/clover even grow in it.

I hope you all have a nice Memorial Day holiday. I'm remembering my Dad, a Korean War Veteran this weekend.
tn- you could garden in raised beds or container gardening.

like these-

http://www.bhg.com/gardening/vege...ised-beds/

just google and there are tons of ideas.

my dad is a korean war vet too but i think he had too much fun and didn't see any action.

have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Last night, a Target cashier made me laugh. Of course, ymmv on whether you'll think this was as funny as I did...

To set the context, this wasn't the type of cashier who scans coupons without even looking at the qs or even caring much about them. This cashier was the kind of cashier who lays out all your coupons on the counter in groups, making sure there aren't more than four like coupons, and verifying that they're for products you've indeed purchased. This cashier saw to it that they were being used properly, within Target's rules, at least.

So, while scanning my coupons, a couple of which were newly expired, the cashier notes, "Oh, this one's expired... But we take expired coupons, so that's good."

He continues scanning my coupons. Then, with no prompting by me whatsoever, says, "You know people ask me all the time how far back we'll take expired coupons."

I thought to myself, he'll probably say two weeks or something like that.

"But, I tell you," he continues, "If someone brought in a coupon that was expired like even one or two years, I'd accept it just for their dedication. You know? I just couldn't bring myself to reject it. Not with that kind of dedication."

EEK!

At first, I was simply stunned, as this wasn't at all what I thought he was going to say. Then I laughed. Not the "are-you-kidding-me?" kind of laugh, but the good kind. The kind that melts some of life's tensions away and leaves you feeling warm and light. That's the only way I can describe it. And I'll never forget it.

I hope that you noted his name, so that in the future when someone wants to reject a coupon for being expired you can say "really, BlahBlah mentioned that you take expired coupons".

bulb Just think about all the great Qs we've had in the past...

Regarding my PM... yep it sucks. I wish there was an upgrade to that situation: the longer you are here, or more posts you have or something.

Anyone know how long it takes to reset a TQ on Target.com/coupons? I printed my limit probably 2 months ago on Tidy Cat. A friend printed two with a new date, but mine didn't reset. I'm not desperate, as there is no sale right now, but should be soon at Publix.

In my experience it never resets with a new date if you print your two. Print one and if new exp date is issued print your second one. That is all you ever get on one computer, 2.

I did note his name (for various reasons) and, of course, can't recall it now. I do this all the time. Embarrassment So why do I bother? I should know to at least write it down. Smilie

Anyway, I've never been refused an expired q at that particular Target. They have the BEST employees there and are the lowest-priced of the five Targets I regularly go to. Let's hope it stays that way.

Only downside to their accepting expireds is my organizers are overflowing with qs now that I don't clean the expireds out regularly. I'll have to put together an organizer with expireds for my Target runs soon or I'll lose my mind... But I'm not complaining. Wink
Thanks for PMing me and clarifying some details regarding rep giving. About increasing rep limits with experience, perhaps their thinking is that the more reps/posts/experience you have, the more discerning you become in regards to giving reps. I don't agree with this necessarily, but it might just be their thinking, if any thought is given to the matter at all. Personally, I agree with you that members should earn more as they gain post count, experience, etc. The more "perks" you can earn, the better.

Not until I have a sale... OK? No need to print if I'm just throwing them in the trash. I only need additional ones (I have two right now) if Publix or Target has a good sale.

I don't have a cat so I'd be willing to print 4 & mail whenever too. Just PM Me when you'd like them.

so wish we could tag people like facebook! that *friend* function is still operative, but as far as i know it doesn't really do anything. they should make it so you can tag your friends.

shake head i don't think so. it was pretty dead thread until people started scanning the mailer q's and posting. it's counterpart, Giant, is very dead, so people just post in the sns thread for giant. it's mostly the same, almost the same sales. there are a few small differences. so giant people just follow the sns thread. martin's, another chain operated by them doesn't even have a thread.

Ah on the Giant folks, as I know FitnessFan is in NoVa (where there's a Giant), but no SnS to my knowledge (I used to live in NoVa. I left to come home and take care of my Dad with Parkinson's).
