I'd take him back to the dr. If he's not any better (except for the throat and throwing up) and isn't eating. It can't hurt to carry him back, and I would think the temp would be gone by now.
Well, he's definitely going back on Monday if things are the same. I guess I'm just wondering if I should wait until then or go to the ER sooner.

I'm mostly concerned this is something more serious than a cold. I don't know. The fever is concerning me the most. His body shouldn't be fighting something off for this long with the help of Amoxicillin....especially since the sore throat is completely gone.

He's soooo miserable. Frown

Is there an after hours clinic there? I'd take him to urgent care tonight. Is he peeing?
I'm not sure. I don't think there's an after hours one. I know they have the RediClinics with limited hours.

He just said he hasn't used the bathroom at all today. I feel like a horrible mom because I can't tell you when he last went. Frown I just asked when he last went and he doesn't know.

I agree he should go back in. Now the fever could be from something completely separate from the whole strep throat thing (like a cold or some other virus that the antibiotic wouldn't touch) and it's just running it's course. It just seems like a rather long time to have such a consistent high fever. Does your insurance have one of those things were you can call a nurse and talk to them?

Not a mom but Iagree not peeing is a big deal. Has it been more than 3 days since the last bowel movement? Also another thing to watch out for.

I'd take him tonight for sure. Don't feel bad because you didn't know when he last went. He's old enough he doesn't announce when he goes. You don't have any way of knowing. hug

Not a mom, but yea he could be really dehydrated. Doesn't sound good that he's had a fever that long. The meds should have helped fight the infection. If he still has it, somethings not right. Also have him tested for Mono, sounds like it could be that. I was deathly ill with it as a teen. It sucked.
Good Luck..hug

Signs and symptoms of mononucleosis may include:

Fatigue
Weakness
Sore throat, perhaps a strep throat that doesn't get better with antibiotics
Fever
Swollen lymph nodes in your neck and armpits
Swollen tonsils
Headache
Skin rash
Loss of appetite
Soft, swollen spleen
Night sweats
The virus typically has an incubation period of four to eight weeks, although in young children this period may be shorter. Signs and symptoms such as fever and sore throat usually lessen within a couple of weeks, although fatigue, enlarged lymph nodes and a swollen spleen may last for a few weeks longer.

When to see your doctor
If you've been experiencing the above symptoms, you may have mononucleosis.

If rest and a healthy diet don't ease your symptoms within a week or two or if your symptoms recur, see your doctor.

whatever he has could be resistant to amoxocillin, so it might not be helping. how much is he drinking? if he's drinking at least quite a bit.. then it can be a serious issue with his kidneys. if he's barely drinking (coupled with barely eating) then again, potential serious. nothing guaranteed might just be a nasty flu (which antibiotics won't do anything). it doesn't sound like there's much you can do other than a water bath to keep his temp down, but hospital might want him on iv's. hope the little guy gets better soon hug

vq> the only downfall of sd is home pricing. i haven't even bothered looking at schools if its a place you want to raise a family, my rent is more than some people's mortgages and i live in a studio. granted i'm walking distance to the beach, but still
