In the on-island timeline, yes, Jack is aware that Claire is his sister. He found out at his father's funeral after he left the island in 2005.
Thanks for refreshing my memory.

I don't think the show last night answered any questions at all.
Well, it confirmed what most of us suspected that Claire was still alive. Now we just don't know if she's "good" or "bad" or somewhere in between. Heck, we still don't know good or bad for many of the characters, like Ben. laugh out loud

Quote from shhaggy :
Dude, in the alternate timeline the island is underwater. There's no telling where anyone is. The alternate timeline doesn't just prevent the plane from crashing while leaving everything else the same, it changes the course of events from the point in time of the bomb onward.
Yeah, that's true, so from the 1970s onward, since the island is underwater, no one would've come to the island after that bomb went off.

Quote from shhaggy :
She's 36 weeks pregnant. There's not much jumping around to be done at that stage.
It was odd that Claire could've delivered the baby after just 36 weeks, but in the 1st season, she didn't deliver until x days after the plane crash. (I forgot how many days later, hence the "x".) I would've thought that part should remain the same - how does the bomb going off in the new timeline or not affect the "get me out of this womb" factor of the fetus? Confused

When your baby is born is not predestined, many outside factors can contribute. The stress of being at gunpoint and then having her adopter back out surely didn't help (although arguably a plane crash was more stressful). Either way, circumstances do affect when you give birth.

Didn't Claire go into labor after the crash and the Jack started calming her down to stop the contractions? I could be wrong but just seemed to think that Dontknow

I don't think there's a more stressful situation than surviving a plane crash. So if she didn't go into labor under that circumstance, I find it hard to believe being in a cab and having a random woman point a gun at you and then tell you to leave would be as stressful as a plane crash.

Level of stress:

Gun pointed at you < Plane crash < Realizing she would have to raise the monkey herself because the adopter no longer wants to adopt

I'll give you the standard copout answer that my father-in-law gives for these types of situations on LOST: It was the "healing magic" of The Island.

Tonight's episode is "The substitute" the only info my DVR would give me is that "Helen" will be making an appearance again. It does make me wonder if in the new time line Locke really did marry Helen Confused

Yeah, that explains a lot, but also drives many people nuts. I know several who stopped watching after a couple seasons b/c of that factor. Frown

Cool, Peg Bundy will be on. Whee I hope I can watch it tonight if I get home from a Mardi Gras party and have enough time to watch the show from my DVR before hitting the sack. Smilie
