Question
Ok, so I have been turning in ink cartridges to staples for a while now, and have received rewards since February I believe, and I have never been able to use them except one. I usually waited til the last day before they expired and then they wouldnt work when using them online or in store they wouldnt work, so i just figured i missed my chance, and would try again next month (i know, not the smartest approach, but thats a different issue).
Anyway, since I kept having non-stop problems with my rewards, I just logged onto my account to check my status on rewards.. Well apparently, EVERY single one of my rewards was redeemed in New York by somebody buying external hard drives both times. One was in Staten Island and the other in Selden... The problem here is that I am from Indiana, and have never been to New York in my life.. Now I dont know if 'New York' shows up if you buy online, or if someone guessed my rewards account number, because I keep my computer clean and scan it constantly for everything, and have never posted any information anywhere.. I cant call the rewards people til Monday to figure this out.. Do you think they will credit me with any of these rewards, or am I screwed?
So has anyone else had this happen, or did i win the unlucky lottery again? lol

Furthermore, I also checked my current rewards/coupons, and some show "refund coupon" while some show "balance coupon" on top. Balance coupons were issued when I used a rewards check and received the remaining, while the refund coupons were issued when I returned something that was purchased with rewards checks (not balance coupons). I believe this was not the case before (i.e., everything was "balance coupons" regardless of what the original payment method was), which may indicate that the system is -hopefully- different now.
Go and use them before someone steals them.
Use them for a 10 cent copy and save the balance coupon if you don't need to buy anything at the moment.

Im going to guess that these are stolen from unsuspecting staples rewards members. Just the same way as the staples rewards. Obviously coupons arent as valuable as dollars off merchandise, but it takes alot of work to earn one of these coupons. It would be frustrating to take 2 weeks to reach a coupon and then have someone redeem it before you had a chance to.

Phone call made to the dedicated Premier number and got another new account created. I know the drill pretty well by now. Darn... I just did my May recycling yesterday too, so that hasn't even shown up yet. So I'll have to check back after the long weekend and see if the transaction posts.
The rep mentioned they were having good luck with hand-generated account numbers... so hopefully that makes some kind of difference. It was quick to solve, but it's kind of a pain to have to go through the same thing every few months.
Their EZ Button takes longer to push than it is to create a stolen reward.
What a great job Staples. Epic failure.........
There is a new website selling stolen rewards and generated coupons that is being actively promoted by a person in this forum who also used to do the same for the "club". The owner of the site also has a presence on ejunkie. Anyway, here are excerpts of what is being sold:
"Our coupons and rewards are real and legitimate, they were released by Staples each month. They are not generated or faked. Which is why we run out of coupons or rewards periodically and have expiration dates. If the coupons and rewards are faked, they will be rejected by Staples coupons system."
"Staples $20 Rewards - $7 Each - Instant Delivery - American Name On Reward Check
Staples $20 Rewards - $7 Each - Instant Delivery - Asian Name On Reward Check
Staples $20 Rewards - $7 Each - Instant Delivery - Indian Name On Reward Check"
"One rewards check per store visiting unless I make it stackable for you."
"This form will send an e-mail showing what coupons/rewards you are purchasing, what Amazon Payment e-mail address you are sending payments to, your delivery e-mail address, and if you are using it in-store, you will enter the city/state so I can put that info on the rewards (and/or tick a checkmark where it says use online if you are using the reward(s) Online)."
This seller is now using Amazon Payments, maybe because PayPal finally decided to close his /her account. Again, buyer beware. This person is active on this forum, judging from the content he has on his website, which is cut and pasted directly from here.
