Well, I paid $140ish for my Calc textbook last semester, and it still trades in for $100. I could trade it in and have essentially paid $40 for a semester's rental, or have paid the $60 Chegg rents it for.

And it goes for almost $200 (yes, $200) in the bookstore.

You only save about $10-15 with Chegg and other rental services - you get SOOO much more buying and reselling at the end of the semester.
Not even that. Last Fall, my Psych book was $100 almost everywhere. So you could buy it for $100, and sell it for like $75 at the end of the semester, and you're out $25.

I checked out Chegg and it was over $80 to rent it. So you paid $80 to use it for a semester, or you could keep it in good condition (which isn't hard) and sell it for a $25 loss. And that was if you bought it new at full retail price.

Yeah. I saved money by buying the book.

And I could have just bought the 5th edition instead of the 6th, since they're the fricking same inside (actually, the 5th had more of the online homework problems in it laugh out loud).

Not necessarily.

I did both last semester, because I had two books that wouldn't have made back the money I spent on Chegg.
How so? And how did you know how much money it'd sell for at the end of the semester? Huh

Are you clairvoyant?

Yeah, that sounds about right. My organic chem models sell for almost $100 in the bookstores. Chegg wants $40 to rent it. I bought it off ebay in "like new" condition for $36 shipped. laugh out loud

I'll be able to sell it for probably around $20-$30 come december. But yeah, I always check through bigwords.com first, and chegg and the other book rental services are NEVER more than about $10-$15 less than what it is to buy it used. So I always buy it used, because I'll easily be able to sell it for more than that tiny difference.

Probably because they didn't want the hassle of selling. Grin

OMG, I HATE that - that's such the biggest freakin' rip-off ever. Annoyed

Most of my science class books are like that. They maybe add a few diagrams, some updated pictures, and they get to charge $150 for it.

But I just go around that, and buy the older edition for about $10. Evillaugh Then it sells for about half that at the end of the semester. But even if I didn't sell it, I'd be out way less than if I rented.

At this point I'm just using burning software. ImgBurn.

I had previously created .iso images of the DVD's with running AnyDVD in the background.
