Question
I'm looking at career path options and one is military, specifically Navy (Jokes allowed, go ahead Marines...). What do you guys think?
Thoughts on the military?
Thoughts on people you know joining the military?
Experiences you've seen in being with the military?
Nothing serious yet, just something in my mind still right now and trying to see/figure out what I want to do and how I want to do it.

If we compared the IQ of all the people who joined the military vs. all the people who did not, who are the same age and then compare the IQ of the same subset of people in 10 years, 20 years, 40 years... what would the outcome be?
I'd expect the people who did not join to have a higher IQ from the start, and possibly later in life as well

But he missed both his kids being born, and their first steps..etc. He loved the different places he's been too and has interesting stories to tell.
Him and his wife both did college, but not sure how far they stayed with it. They also have no money. Nothing for a downpayment on a house, nothing for their kids future. But his wife did like to spend.
Over-all there are pros and cons to everything, it's just which is important to YOU. But I wouldn't expect to come out of the military and be rich.
On the other hand my cousin is in the Air Force. (and his brother, and BIL). He is now in the reserves, he fixes planes. He does ok.
His brother and BIL, are doing pretty well finically. The both do top secret missions, ones a gunner and not sure what the other does.
So I guess its not only which branch you go in, but what you intend to do when you get in there. Also you have to be good at it.
