You can generally find bestsellers and such on the "usual places".

thanks for the answers...i think the ipad is pretty cool, but am waiting to see what version 2.0 is like (i assume they'll use the same form factor, but make the screen bigger, device lighter, etc)
laugh out loud Wait what? You don't want a Kindle now? I've read an an LCD before (old iPod Touch) and it's a lot better on the Kindle. It's a fraction of the cost and it's dedicated and what it does best. I would have it along with an iPad. The Kindle app should be for short reads and quick access for notes etc, when you forget your kindle.

I think you'll love your Kindle if you get one. I would use the iPad for movies, emails other garbage like that..but not for everyday book reading.

laugh out loud I've been testing android on my phone for a while (week or so) and love it. I was also dealing with my gf's iPod Touch and also saw many of the apps. I don't hate Apple per say...I miss my iPod Touch...but I think there are a lot of apps available from Android. I haven't been able to find an app lately that wasn't available on android and was an iOS exclusive.

As for the car dock thing..durr. It's called bluetooth. I don't think anyone has made an android app since there are several hardware choices.

pop in your zip here..

its not just bluetooth. there are a lot of idiotic companies that make iphone/ipod stuff because they figure its a bigger segment. trust me.. when i got my first mp3 i refused to buy anything apple. but being an outsider was just not worth it. i couldn't get in on any of the cheap deals on the fp on mp3 accessories. i couldn't use mine with most of the other stuff. i couldn't run out to target and get a reasonable price accessory. even so, there weren't tons of companies making accessories for it.

Well I did have a headache yesterday from being on my netbook too much (I take breaks normally every now and then) and needed to rest, but when I took my Kindle I could feel my eyes adjust and it wasn't as glaringly painful. It's not a 100% paper replacement..but I can definitely feel the difference. Not to mention that I tired the iPad in store and it is HEAVY. not to mention it doesn't lay flat..so it is quite an annoyance to read with it.

I also noticed that I couldn't find quite a few books in the iBooks store when I was messing with my gf's iPod Touch vs the kindle. I know there's the Kindle app..but still...

I understand where you're coming from. Ever since my iPod Touch died..I've had the issue of having my Logitech dock being pretty much dumb now since I couldn't wake up to music! (iPod dock)
Mad

But then I got one of these suckers Stick Out Tongue
http://www.amazon.com/Ibizia-iFIP...B00160QWU0
...it was $12 at Target laugh out loud IT ROCKS. Now all my music and stuff is streamed to my dock and any other iPod connector via bluetooth.

So now..every iPod accessory is now compatible with my bluetooth phone Bleh

Readers are so not my bag!

I find the technology interesting but not useful for me specifically. Probably because I'm not of the mobile-phone generation(s) and because I don't have the need to use mobile devices "on the go" like as a commuter and such. If I did, I'd probably see the need for myself more.

I'd rather have an ultra-portable full-fledged machine to use but that's just me!

Not going to argue about that arj..but what he said too. Stick Out Tongue

If you want ePub..buy a Nook. I was on the line with both of them honestly..but because of price...jumped on Kindle.

It's still a lot cheaper than an iPad..and does what it does best..reading books.

I haven't found any books yet (only had kindle about 2 weeks yet) that are strictly ePub..but I understand the concern of compatibility.

Speaking of which....Apple uses their own special DRM for their ePubs which is not compatible with other ePub devices..so it may as well be the Amazon Kindle format. iBooks is only available on iOS devices..at least I can use kinlde on Android, iPhone, Palm, PC so on and so forth.

So yeah..buy a Kindle or a nook folks. NOT an iPad.
