Dec, I hope the assessment goes smoothly. If there is anything I can help with, please let me know.
My only 2 cents on the SNAP discussion- I guess I could understand the outrage if the OP wrote about buying wine or cigarettes, etc, those stereotypical reasons that people cry "fraud" about assistance usage. But I think the OP asked a legitimate question about her transaction. How many of us have posted that a transaction was a little too much STFC? Only difference is that instead of swiping a froggy gift card or paying cash, the person used a SNAP card to cover her grocery items. The rest is Target POS issues, as smeg wrote.
Here's something about juice: http://www.tampabay.co
But supermarket produce is often treated with chemicals to keep it "fresh". Try a supermarket organic apple just for the heck of it to see if you have the same reaction.
i also can't eat more than a few prunes, but i love them and can't stop at just one. so i just end up not eating them at all b/c i have no willpower to stop and then totally regret it after.
that's my poop story
I live on 5 hour energy shots and Target. It's probably not the best of diets but I've lost between 30 and 40 lbs since February.

Shameless beg for some gatorade/g2 coupons. If anyone has some to trade, please PM me. Hopefully we can work something out.
Thanks!

i could get a $10 credit if i enter in your email b4 you make your first purchase from them, but it's no biggie. i had a credit at *bates and have never made a purchase from them and it expired.
I really should get moving along faster so I can make a few T runs today. DH really needs some socks, I imagine those will soon be really hard to find if they are not already sold out of C9 accross the nation.
i use soyjoys as emergency rations when going shopping. finished the last of it last month. now i have fiberplus bars. i only carry one at a time in my bag so hopefully won't be having digestive issues.
and i stay hydrated w/ sobe. extra 100 calories on shopping days b/c i decided to stay away from artificial sweeteners. i just think the less chemicals i ingest, the better. now that i'm allergic to almost all the shampoos, dishwashing liquids, many liquid handsoaps, bodywashes, supermarket apples, i don't need to sensitize myself to any more products. and have made a push to not buy food w/ any trans fats at all no matter how good the deal is. so that eliminates most keebler and ritz products.
i need to put my foot down about the sobe. i only buy it when it's an MM. but it's so tempting, esp when i have 20 more bogo's waiting for another gc deal b4 they expire 8/31. maybe i should just donate it.... our cty food bank may shut down for the summer for lack of food to give out.
i buy like one thing a yr online and half the time it's for my SIL when she's coming from italy, so i don't really care if i get the credit or not b/c there is a very good chance i will never use it. i think hawaiiandawn buys things from them. i think i saw her mention she was waiting for a package from them once. but haven't seen her around in a long while.
if you find somebody else to somehow work out a good scenario for the *invite a friend*, pls go ahead.
fyi- they have some nice luigi bormioli serveware and crystal on sale. it's also sold at macys and you can see some of the exact same stuff at macys.com for even more than the retail price that hautelook has listed.
hautelook also sells some very high end goods like cartier, bulgari, todds, and right now ferragamo. i've seen companies that i've gone to their warehouse sales or sample sales use them to move some of their merchandise. i've never bought anything from them but they seem very reputable.
Once again, she didn't do anything wrong. If Target needs to reconfigure its POS system to more accurately reflect SNAP (the new name for food stamps) eligible purchase amounts, that's not her fault. She didn't program the system.
The Target POS system determines what items are SNAP-eligible. The Target POS system determines the SNAP-eligible total.
The food stamps paid for the food. The food coupons (and resulting overage) paid for the non-food items. You might not like that, but that's okay. The world keeps turning...
Not all POS systems work like Target's. An area grocery store around here actually penalizes coupon-using SNAP recipients. Say I buy a dozen eggs for $1 and pack of toilet paper for $2, using a $1 MFQ on the toilet paper.... The totals should be $1 SNAP-eligible and $1 cash OOP, right?
Right.
Because you can tell from a post on an anonymous Internet forum that that poster is not using the aid as a stepping stone and will be on that aid forever.
You know what else is pretty common place? Making blanket generalizations against other people that you can't support.
It's also pretty sickening...
Of course not. You just implied a whole bunch of other crap based off nothing but an Internet forum post.
Apparently, you crawled inside your soapbox and taped it shut from the inside.
And you're not the judge of what is "misuse" or "abuse".
End of story.
... No matter how many times you repeat it.
And at the end of the day, some people need to judge others to make themselves feel superior.
That never sits right with me...
It is not her fault the system tallies the way it does, it is her fault that she knew prior to handing over her food stamp card that she owed very little in the way of food stamps and the rest was supposed to be cash. Skirt that fact all you want, it doesn't change anything.
The food stamps paid for $4.50 worth of food and nearly $30 worth of video games nonsense. Would you have been okay with that $30 worth of food stamps being used to cover a purchase that included liquor and/or cigarettes? Food stamps are for food, nothing else.
Again, show me where I said what you are asserting? Oh wait, again... I didn't. I said the people I was speaking of who do not qualify don't get the chance because the program cannot be extended to them because too many people are misusing and abusing it long term. Where did I say anyone on SD was a lifelong food stamp recipient? Yeah, that is a big no as well.
So people who misuse and abuse food stamps don't see it as a freebie nor do they think they are entitled to it? If that were the case they wouldn't keep receiving it and there wouldn't be a record number of food stamp fraud cases nationwide. If audited by the state, Target could get in trouble for processing food stamp purchases in the manner they do.
I asserted one fact, about one person in regards to food stamps... the OP. And that fact was/is that she knowingly and willfully allowed non-food stamp eligible items to be paid for with food stamps. Phoenix got defensive and self-righteous, you're spouting off inaccurate and irrelevant nonsense just to see yourself type.
Yeah, I am not the judge of that... the state is when they set, inform people of and enforce the guidelines of legal and illegal food stamp use. Guess what, by their dictate it is illegal to pay for non-food items with food stamps... imagine that?!? You should read the story again, you obviously cannot absorb simple facts the first time.
Tossing smilies into your asinine reply doesn't make your angst any less obvious. You are trying too hard to look clever (and failing) while repeatedly dancing around two inescapable facts, food stamps are for food only and she knowingly used food stamps for cash items.
At the end of the day she knowingly committed food stamp fraud, Phoenix supported food stamp fraud and you have an inferiority complex. If you didn't, you wouldn't have taken someone pointing out obvious food stamp fraud and tried to incorrectly paint it as someone judging all food stamp recipients as dishonest. Your issues are your own and have nothing to do with me, do not attempt to muck up my valid assertion by projecting your issues onto me.
It's relevant as long as it is chat. When it becomes a debate it needs to go to the podium. Feel free to go there and start a thread.
Anyone who feels the need to continue can PM me, as requested by the regs.
