Hot Toys for Christmas 2010: Predictions

What do you think will be the hot toy for 2010.

I'm leaning towards mighty beanz right now. My son is a huge Star Wars fan and is crazy about them. They not only do Star Wars, but Marvel Super Heros and they also have a normal line for the younger kids. I like how cheap they are. Only $5 for a package of them.

What about the real construction? I looked at some of the refill packs and they are already starting to go for double? If the real construction thing takes off, people are going to need more of the foam wood.
You know...I was thinking about posting Loopz here. I was wondering if it's going to be like mindflex was last year.

Loopz commercials have been increasing in the past week or so. And there is a chrome limited edition that is sold out on TRU too if you look.

I thought it is a cool idea but I don't think I would get that for my boys for 3 reasons:
1. Foam is not biodegradable so it is a big environmental nightmare.
2. In the commercial, it looks like the "wood" is sagginglaugh out loud, seriously, the plane or helicopter the kid builds looks very droopy.
3, God only knows what chemicals are in that "wood"
cool idea, but pass for me.
I, on the other hand think paper jamz will take off, the only trouble is shipping them if u sell online.

Oh,and the Justin Bieber dolls could be good but did you look at the ship date(12/20).They are set up like that to prevent people from reselling them.

They put a video up of the real construction on their blog. Did you see it? It doesn't look too bad but you bring up some good points. It's obvious Mommydearest is a "real" mom.

Paper Jamz migtht be oversaturated a bit. A lot of unusual stores like Walgreens sell them. Maybe people won't know?

And if you look around the net it looks like the bieber dolls may actually be coming out right at the start of December like the 4th despite the ship date notice.

my toys r us had sme today. NY. only a couple of packs 5-6, i got two of them. Has anyone noticed if the same beanz are in let's say the r2d2 packs, so that whenever you open a r2d2 pack, it always has the same 4 beanz? I was too dumb to write them down, but maybe if anyone collects these, we should put together a list.

I sure don't see anything yet that looks like it is going to be "hot". Squinkies, singamajigs, etc.....

Regular video games don't make much if any money in the resale market even at Christmas time. They are really easy to make and rarely get sold out. Something like the Wii Fit was a great resale item a few years ago because it came with a peripheral that required additional production.

It might be possible to make some money off the Kinect or the PS Move but I don't see either one of those as a sure thing.
I can't really speak for the resale value, but video games definitely sell out around Christmas. I worked at Gamestop for over a year, which included one holiday season. People were freaking out over the New Super Mario Bros. and Wii Fit Plus. Couldn't find them anywhere and they sold out within a couple hours of shipment and we'd get like 25 in at a time. People may not be willing to pay more for them on through resellers, but they do get really hot.

They don't get sold out online, and they especially don't get sold out at huge retailers. For example I always know I can find video games at TRU in Times Square, because they get massive shipments of everything. It's pretty rare for video games to sellout at all nearby retailers, what city did you work in? I'm guessing a small one?

I picked up the singamajig at CVS for my sick 5 yr old daughter and gave it to her last week. She loved it way more than I thought she would, which was great cuz I thought it was a bit overpriced at 12.99. She named it, carried it around and wanted to sleep with it. My husband and I found ourselves playing with it too. Blush

I worked in a suburb of Buffalo, but it was sold it in the entire area for the most part.

Even Buffalo itself isn't a huge city though. Surely the game in question was not sold out online, and probably could've been delivered within a day or two from any of several retailers. The only way video games sellout is if the company drastically underestimates demand, in which case you get new shipments within a week. It's not like a product that needs to be built and is dependent on availability of parts.
