What's the worst birthday gift you've ever received?

My grandma gave me a green sweater with birds ironed onto it. Around the birds was glitter.

I was afraid to wear it for fear I'd get shot.

My worst gift was not a birthday gift, but a shower gift, from future MIL. Does that count?

All names have been changed to protect the innocent.

As I opened MIL's gift, in front of dozens of people, at my bridal shower, I admit, I thought "how lame". It was a skillet-type thing for browning foods in the microwave.

Take everything home, showing the gifts to dh, and point out "here's the gift from your mom." We open the box, and out falls a Christmas-looking "to/from" tag that says "To Mom, From Herbert and Mildred."

Yup, my bridal shower gift from MIL was a re-gift. From her other son, and his previous girlfriend. Ten years previous.

Ltl7- that sounds like a very scary disease to have, I honestly no very little about but just from what you described it sounds awful. Anything that would slow me down mentally or physically would drive me nuts I am very idenpendent and always doing several things at once.

hmmm Lyme Disease comes from ticks right? We haven't seen any ticks here but we got our new dog about, what, 2 weeks ago? Who knows. I'm the freak of nature. I keep second guessing myself thinking maybe I am crazy.

Ank I will be praying for your little girl. I have a 3 month old and he lost weight when he was first born. My wife was exclusively breastfeeding. He was 6 pounds 1 ounce and weighs almost 11 pounds now.

For a second I thought you were going to say it was a re-gift from YOUR fiance and HIS ex. Still what poor taste.

It's just like The Middle Mother's Day show. I am very thoughtful - the mom goes thru all these hoops to get a piece of the basketball court of his favorite team, and the husband runs the kids (on Mother's Day) to the drug store and gets her an inflatable foot bath.

hey all, I ended up back at the ER shortly after I posted earlier. They still don't know what's wrong. My sugar in the ambulance was 94. They don't think it's sugar, thyroid panel was fine, all labs normal. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist first thing tomorrow morning.

They think I'm a meth addict. I don't do drugs. I'm exhausted. I'll come back later to post. Nothing worse than the entire world thinking you're a drug addict nutjob. Something is effin wrong with me but noone knows what.

My absolute worst gift, more of the occasion, not necessarily the gift, was my ex-husband when we were first dating. We had been dating for a few months, I was 16 and he was 18, and he gave me luggage? Not even good luggage, cheap crap. There was no, "hey, we're going on a trip" surprise, he just got me luggage , I always get crap that he wants.

eh, just some freaky weird deal that has left me more confused than anything.

I was driving to surprise my mom, had my two oldest with me. I stopped and got a 5 hour energy drink cause, well, I'm addicted. It was my third that day. I had taken all 3 within about 4 hours or so. I had to pull over because I got dizzy. But it didn't get better and I started to shake. Thought maybe it was a sugar issue so I drank some coke, made it worse. Drank some kool-aid (only other thing I had in the car) and it didn't help. I had eaten 2 pieces of toast early that morning but figured I'd eat something else. DS had half a peanut butter cookie left so I ate it. Went to drive again and felt REALLY sick. So I turned around thinking I'd just drive back home. It got really bad so I pulled into a Valero that had a restaurant attached. They had me sit in there and gave the kiddo's something to drink to occupy them and I got really confused. I didn't really understand who I was or where I was. They called 911.

How embarassing.

So the EMT guys get there and I am freezing cold, shaking like a leaf, nauseated, can't catch my breath, dizzy, feel like I'm going to pass out or have a seizure, and my speech is slurred. They check my blood sugar and it was 84. Blood pressure was a little high but I was also in distress. My O2 was fine at 99%. Took me and the kids in the waaambulance to some hospital 10 miles away. This entire time I'm still having these episodes. After 3 tries they get an IV in and get fluids going but I still feel like shit.

My heart beat would go from 105 down to 70 and then jump back up, then fall down. They did an EKG but it was normal. All my labs were normal. My blood sugar at the hospital was in the 120's. They said the only explanation they could come up with is caffeine overdose. They gave me a xanax to counteract the anxiety part of it and sent me home.

That was saturday and I am still so dizzy I can't drive. I still feel short of breath at times. I have a hard time talking because I get confused or studder.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me. I don't have a doctor and can't really afford to have one. *sigh*

Bill went to the HyVee near East Town mall on Sat. and got 6 boxes of Cheerios for .29 after the coupon and CAT. They had a few varieties on sale for 2/$5 but not the Honey Nut Cheerios that I asked for, so he got the regular. I didn't know about the deal til after he left so he didn't use any q's....a MM would have been better but 6 boxes for .29 works for me! HTH!!

I hope they are finding some answers for you. Yay on DS's OT. Sounds so cute that he is trying so hard with the yoga.

Okie dokie - now for a real health update on Mavis... she left the hospital weighing 8lbs 7 oz, and still weighed that much today ..... He also added a spinal ultrasound to her kidney ultrasound on 9/13.

Yeah Dia, what GT said about Hy-Vee. ... I ended up at 84 boxes of cereal I have been using the cats to buy, amongst other things, canning jars so that I can make lots and lots of freezer jam and other yummy stuff out of all of the produce I got cheap in the last days of the coupon at T.
