SOME WEIGHT????? You call that SOME WEIGHT???? That's fabulous. That's 51 lbs!!! Listen to her, "I've lost some weight", just like she hasn't accomplised something.
lol well thank you.

gator, red bull does nothing for me. I was taking the 5 hour energy shots stopped for medical confusion reasons. DH bought me a NOS yesterday (it's a full drink not a shot) and I drank it slooooowly. I could feel it working. It worked well enough that I spent 2 hours in DS's room cleaning because that included washing all four walls. lol My liviing room looks like shit but we can eat off his walls. laugh out loud

DH is 6'4" and I only weight 10 lbs more than him. For some reason, I fnd that amusing. laugh out loud

My goal was never really a specific weight goal. When I can wear a VS clothes, I will feel like I've done something.
My husband is 6'2" and I always said as long as I was at least 100 lbs. less than him, it was ok. Ooops.

Hey, Delta Burke -- remember her from Designing Women? -- makes some great lingerie. I have a nighty set that really and truly is made for women who have real live boobs. I wish I could find someplace that carries her stuff around here. Well, not "here" there is nothing "here" but at least where I have to drive to to shop. I don't wanna buy that kind of stuff online. She makes bras, undies, and swimsuits too, not just the sexy stuff but it's all made to work for larger women and it's all made to be pretty.

Wave that would be me!
I can't stand diet! I tried pepsi max when it was free,it was just yucky! I will have to cut back my intake and hopefully I can eliminate it that's the goal. I do like tea, and that will give me my caffeine that I desperately need! Not sure about the sugar though?

As for walking, not sure DH will approve, we live on a pretty busy street and vegas isn't the best place to be out walking regardless of area, especially with daytime drunks etc. But we live right across the street from a strip mall, maybe I could walk there in the evenings? And go to jcpenny home store and window shop, and possibly stop in the 24hr fitness and see how much it is per month? I can't afford a contract.

Slowtech, I like your salad dressing idea! I luv ranch and I was trying to thin of an alternative but I hate low fat, because it taste awful!
i love ranch too! actually some of the fat free versions are really not that bad. you just have to try different brands until you find the one that you are ok w/. key word being OK.

over time i've retrained my taste buds to be ok w/ lower fat or less sugar versions of food.

for example, i now buy the betty crocker 94% FF microwave popcorn and when i eat the regular, movie, or whatever, i think they taste too greasy.

some things you have to really work at to find an alternative that tastes acceptable and isn't loaded w/ chemicals, artificial sweeteners, etc.

for instance, i cannot stand skim milk. i prefer 2% but that's not really cutting since whole milk is 3%. but i tried skim plus where they replace all the fat w/ milk proteins and it's delish! actually better for you than whole milk. much more expensive but i'd rather pay than drink regular skim, yuck!

you have to be open to downgrading somewhat on the flavor. you will eventually get used to it and then think the regular stuff is too sweet, too greasy, too salty, too fatty, etc. companies do that to get you to buy more products. they make potato chips salty so you drink more soda. same as bars serving salty snacks so you buy more beer. it's a marketing ploy.

my bff is not open to change so unfortunately she complains about all the weight she keeps putting on but she is nothing but a big fat failure until is willing to eat differently. the really bad part is she knows what she needs to do but she just makes excuses and is highly resistant to change in almost everything she does.

I see your point but one thing does kind of encourage the other. If I exercise today and don't eat cheat by afternoon or evening when I really want that knowing that I have done those things encourages me not to eat. Plus, it does help with the weight loss and there is NOTHING more encouraging than looser pants.

*snip*
I should probably state a little better what I meant by that:

I figure I probably get a good amount of activity just between chasing a 2-year-old, doing a lot of shopping (and walking), just go, go, going all the time. I definitely still want to get more exercise in but as it stands I don't really do tons of sitting around. I pop in on the computer between being up and moving around, cleaning the house, doing things for dd, etc. When I lost 70+ lbs. before this is how I did it too and in all honesty you can control your calories in/calories out more by watching what you eat. It takes a lot of exercise comparatively to burn calories....though it obviously helps you tone up and stuff too and just keeps you generally healthy.

I also tend to get overwhelmed very easily because of the brain injury....I have a hard time keeping everything organized sometimes and am going to be starting a LOT of new activities this fall on top of the 'diet' so I figure it would probably be much better for *me* to not stress about the exercise part for nowSmilie Also, I would like to lose weight more slowly than I did the last time anyway, because I want to keep it off and I know that was part of my problem the last time amongst other things.

Ugh, I have been on Zantac since they put me on it in the hospital 2 yrs. ago (for which nobody has really been able to tell me the reasoningRoll Eyes (Sarcastic)) I would love to get off of that, and I know the weight isn't helping. So hopefully it will help...I am really thinking that all the tubing they had down my throat irritated the esophagus and it never really healed properly....because I was not on it when I went in there but was overweight with no problems with reflux. Now even if I miss one day I have terrible refluxHuh Can't figure it out because I haven't gained most of the weight since thenConfused

Oh, and I can't do coffee w/o creamer eithershake head I could never do just liquids - that is one thing that really irritates my reflux - if there's just fluid sloshing around in there and nothing to absorb it!

ETA: Slowtech, I can't stand skim either, and at one point I was buying skim for dh, whole for dd, and 1% for me. Once the doctor said my dd could go off of whole (she hovers at about the 5th %ile or less) we went to 1% since she needs a little bit of fat at least, this works for dh and I and I only have to buy one kind. Thanks for the info. on skim+ though, I will have to check that out sometime!

During the fast I will also use Splenda in tea if I want to. Once I go onto Atkins Induction, I don't know. It actually has one carb in a tsp (I think). You can order liquid online but it's ????. I think I will just start drinking tea without sweetener.

just do it w/o the sweetener!!! retrain your tastebuds to do w/o!

you may have to switch brands. if you are adding sweetener b/c you find it bitter like lipton, maybe try tetley which is not bitter but weaker flavor. pg tips from england is smoother and not bitter.

my favorite is bigelow french vanilla. i drink it every morning during the fall, winter and spring. (summertime i do the club soda thing.) i buy the decaf too and sometimes have another cup at nite. they have other flavors like french vanilla caramel, etc but i like the plain french vanilla best.

i drink other teas for variety. mango black tea is very nice. strawberry black tea, depending on the brand is good too. green tea b/c it's better for you but i prefer black tea. green tea w/ honey is nice and good for you too.

i drink herbal tea also. chamomile when my stomache is upset. peppermint for a little pick me up.

if after lots of experimenting, you decide you need sweetener, how bout honey? has calories but also has antibacterial properties and a healthy alternative. just cut somewhere else to make up for it.

Me too! Drives me nuts. So I started having him order a large size meal and I get $1 burger. Then we share the fries and drink.

Check out the clearance sporting goods at T. There is a small stepper that is at 50% ($35ish) right now. I got one a couple of years ago and would do it while I watched TV. It works great and is small!

That's great news Teri! So happy for you, DS and the rest of the family hug

DS is taking a very uncharacteristic LONG nap today. I may have to scratch our plans for out of town shopping unless he gets up within the next 1/2 hour. Coupons are cut, organized and ready for spending!

Happy Monday Wave

Drinking coffee and trying to start my day (sleepless night, so glad I make my own schedule!). I grind and brew my own Starbucks and I love it- no need for creamer for me.

I was going to do some yoga, but both the cats are asleep on my yoga mat. I'm sure they think I put that there just for them!
