Wow - I'll never catch up on all the chat. I was super super sick all weekend. I can't remember the last time I was so sick. So sick in fact that I only got one run into Target on Saturday to use the c9 coupon. Got myself a couple pairs of socks. Then with tons of sneezing had to head home for bed. Ugh.

Hope everyone had a great Targeting weekend. And Monday is off to a good start. hug

Do any of the area schools have an outdoor track? That's where I exercise. As soon as I drop my son off at school, I bring my two other little ones there and we walk. Baby in the stroller, toddler skipping beside me. It doesn't get my heartrate going super fast, but at least I'm moving, and we're getting our dose of vitamin D. Big Grin

bulb Why yes we do, and why I didn't even think of that I don't know because it isn't far from here and it is the HS I graduated fromScratchchin LMAO Thanks for the tip. I think my dd would get into that and it'd probably wear her out a good bit too!

Is there a sale going on with spags? I suppose I could eat those for lunch. I am not a breakfast or lunch person, but I just saw a commercial that said if you only eat once a day you gain weight..do you guys think that's true? Is that where my weight could be coming from. I am not an over eater. I do not eat more then 1000 calories a day if that much.
They are TPC for .50/each and there are .50/2 here [campbellskitchen.com]. There were also .40/2 in an insert not too long ago. I can't remember when the TPC ends, pretty sure it is within the next couple weeks maybe but I could be wrong. .25 - .30 per can is cheap for around here with our lack of decent grocery stores.

I meant to comment on that earlier - yes, I do believe it's totally true. When I went up to a size 20, I was typically eating 1x a day. When I started eating 4-5 *small* meals a day, then I dropped the weight super fast. Of course, the key is to eat healthy meals/foods too.

I just basically took what you're supposed to eat in a day and spread it out to 4-5 meals instead of 3. I also would down a glass of water (8-12 oz) before eating. That made me eat slower and I was able to stop eating when I felt full.

I read somewhere that when you eat 1x/day, your body goes into starvation mode and stores the food as fat. Its better to not eat at all that day than to just eat once.

Yes, it is true. Growing up, my mom ate this way. I always wondered why she was so heavy (the rest of us where thin), because she was just as active as us, and ate a lot less. Of course, I had "kids" metabolism back then (kissed that good-bye when puberty showed up), but she only had a little bit of a meal for dinner, and it was usually vegetables at that. After her heart attack, she had to go to eating 4-5 small meals a day, and she dropped a lot of weight!

It has something to do with your metabolism. It's easier for your body to work off several small meals, than just 1 meal. I'm sure someone knows the exact science, but I just know you are supposed to eat more, smaller meals.

Why is it that someone asks a question, no one answers it for awhile, then several of us answer it at the same time? laugh out loud

It was explained to me like a series of waves with a normal bloodsugar as a straight line down the middle, when you eat, it goes up and your body burns sugar for energy, when you are hungry, it goes down and body goes into starvation mode. So, the less wavey the line, or smaller more frequent small waves, your body burns fat for fuel.

Wave
Had a great time at Target today buying towels. Infant clearance was being marked from 30% to 50% when I was there.
Going to take the baby in the pool today.

Is 16 weeks old enough to start your baby on solids? My wife is paranoid that it is too early.

That's about when I started my non-preemie ones. They were hungry all the time and Bf'ing wasn't doing it. If your baby is waking up every 2 hours or so, always seems hungry, you can try a little Rice Cereal in some bm or formula. Just make sure you start really light (watery), and stick with only Rice cereal for at least 2 weeks, possibly more. Only introduce foods one at a time, and only one food every 3 or 4 days, to make sure they don't have any allergic reactions. If they do, you will easily be able to narrow it down.

Avent used to make some cereal nipples for their bottles (this was 7 years ago, don't know if they still do). They had an X on top of them, instead of a hole. If you go this way, it is recommended to try just a little to thicken up the milk or formula, and watch them closely at first, so you know whether they can tolerate it, or start choking on it a little.
