Is the Archer Farms still on TPC for $5.99? I saw peelies for $3/2 at some stores here. Not super but an ok deal.

eta if you can't find the peelies, let me know and I'll snag some for you.

I've been buying the Master Chef from Wal-Mart lately. It's $4.24 (or about that) for the big can of regular. So far it's been alright. I have had some cheap coffee that I thought tasted like dirt. This doesn't.

Aldi's Beaumont coffee used to be really good and was cheaper than most. I meant to stop last time I was near one and forgot.

That's a thought. I have been getting a ton of ups from RA and ecb's from CVS. I have been using them to buy my fix.

Teehee I clicked on the link; I dunno if I can keep up with another thread though, TCC is taking it all outta me Rofl2

I've done some photo gifts....I am more of a 'print-it-and-put-it-in-a-nice-frame-cheap-from-Kohls' sort of gal Smilie Of course if a good deal comes along I've made something occasionally. For 4x6's I usually just wait until something comes along....last time it was 200 prints from Pampers GTG + another deal came along from SF for 50 free prints or something so I got a bunch printed. Otherwise I order most other sizes from a professional lab because the coloring of the photos is much better IMHO and sometimes their prices are cheaper than SF or the like anyway. I shoot occasional sessions for friends and my brother orders a lot so I can just tack my orders on with those. Shipping is super cheap too --- shipping kills me on SF Faint Do they ever have decent deals on shipping costs???
The SF thread is suuuuper slow and full of very very nice people. When there is a deal, I'll let ya know. We just did one that was 31 free folded 5x7 cards or stationery, 60 free prints, plus $30 worth of stuff for $18 shipped. woot Definitely NOT the best we've ever done but much better than the deals you find on the webbernet. Stick around heart

Quote from gt6mk31 :
Three others from IA besides me and tm4d. Who knew? How about Arts Cow. I have ordered several things from them and been please. Lots of cheap deals -- including shipping. I LOVE the photo books. I think if I had babies I would be doing a whole lot of those.

I have considered pulling out my kids baby pictures, scanning, and making books for them. Maybe do a Babies First Year then a couple more for older pictures. It's all that damn scanning that stops me. And, then, I also wonder what the photo quality would be.

My daughter's Senior Pictures are done in photo book. I love it. Then we had a couple more printed with fewer pages for the grandparents. My mom was thoroughly impressed.
Most of the Arts Cow deals are free shipping. There is one now for three cosmetic bags - any size - for $8 shipped. I thought they would be really cute done for kids and personalized for crayons, markers, etc. You could even scan a picture they colored and have it put on them.

The dog tags are pretty cool for actual tags for your dog -- they have a bone shaped one. We did the normal "Army" shaped kind with a picture of the Duster and info on it for a keychain. Those are $1.99 shipped. Oh yeah, I did a deck of cards for a niece and nephew. We took a trip to visit them and did some stuff -- canoe trip, shooting, etc. with them. I used the pictures on the cards. They absolutely loved them. (54 different pics on the cards, then one photo for the back of all the cards) Those were $3 shipped.
Yupo and they are all from around-ish Des Moines. We share all the photo deals so Snapfish, SF, Artscow and once in a while a misc. other when the deal is good.

We mostly all also do Kohl's, T & Wags/RA so not just picture stuff but every year I get all my Christmas cards for next to nothing and tons of photo books, too. Did you know you can get SF gift cards at the T's with photo centers? That helps when you need to get to $30 (before q's & discounts) for free ship. Come on over!

just gone one day and so much to catch up on!

i signed my life away yesterday so i can't say any more than i was at the taping of a new show for buddy, the cake boss. wanted to buy something to try from the bakery, but of course it was closed for 2 days to tape the show, darn it!

Quote from myluvjustice :
I like working, and especially from home because dh wouldn't allow me to work if I couldn't stay home with the kids, once there in both in school full time , I can probably get a job outside the home, but right now that's not an option.

What do you guys think of moving to Alaska? We really want to move out of state asap! To either washington, oregon, california or possibly texas, or maybe ALASKA!
Were so over vegas.
i would recommend taking a hard look and planning for the future. think about what you want to do when the kiddies are going to school fulltime. i would build on what skills and experience you have now b/c it's usually much more expensive and takes so much more time to start from scratch. unless you have a dream to do something. if it takes going back to school, you may want to work backwards and figure out when you need to start school to have the necessary certificates or degrees by the time the kiddies are in school themselves fulltime.

i would recommend seeing what the job market is like for dh and you in the places you are interested in and narrow it down to where it would be easiest to get a job. then i would take a vacation there and see if you really like it.

we went on a vegas, grand canyon, red rocks, phoenix and scottsdale vacay once in late sept w/ friends right after he took the boards to check out scottsdale to see if it was a consideration to relocate there as a GI dr b/c there were good opportunities in that area. they decided it was too hot and too far away from family. they ended up 2 hrs away from family. too far for family to expect them to be there all the time, but close enough for special occasions and emergencies.

I'd like to go back to get my masters, but what I love to do and what will pay well long term are different things. Part of me thinks I should just be happy doing what I am now and then deal with additional school and jobs later...but I don't know. That seems almost irresponsible of me.
in this day and age, you always have to plan ahead and be prepared for the future.

Dieters, SLOWTECH -- listen up -- We went to Applebees where cheating seriously crossed my mind. (Get your mind out of the gutter, it didn't involve a man, it involved food). But then I heard all these internet voices.... So, I ordered the Applebee's steak. Subbed a salad instead of potatoes, dressing on the side, barely used any. Couldn't even tell I had touched the little cup.

Ok SLOWTECH are you listening?? I ate the damned steamed broccoli (3 or 4 pieces). I ate a couple pieces of that nasty ass zucchini. I wasn't sure about the carbs in zucchini, so I didn't want too much -- that and it's GROSS. I ignored the carrots -- too many carbs and they are as bad as zucchini.vomit
awww, see?, we are being such a positive influence on each otherBig Grin.

at those places the veggies are an afterthought. they just throw some obligatory veggies on your plate the cheapest and quickest way possible. so lots of times they just steam them b/c it's the least effort, but they'll come out overcooked and mushy. don't blame you for not wanting to eat them.

what makes a big difference to your diet is finding a way to prepare them at home so you will be ok w/ eating them. nobody says you have to like them or love them.

since you don't like eating veggies, maybe you should just find out which ones are the most nutritious and just focus on eating them, prepared in a way you can tolerate them. you will have to experiment.

Back from the Orthopaedist, they drained a LOT of blood from behind his knee cap, but feels better now. He has definitely torn his ACL, and won't be sure about the miniscus until after the MRI.
I don't think they take coupons. Sadwalk
sorry! i tore my ACL and MCL skiing after college. make sure you go to a good dr who asks questions and listens to you. my dr took into acct my lifestyle and since i was an occasional recreator, recommended i don't do surgery, b/c cutting into the body increases the chance for arthritis and rheumatism later. but for somebody who is a wknd warrior or athlete he would recommend surgery. i was having problems later b/c i wasn't exercising my quads enough to make up for my torn ACL. i went to a recommended sports medicine dr who examined me for 5 minutes, by sitting on my feet and yanking on my legs, pulled out a checklist which had all the prices next to it and circled his recommendation, surgery, of course. didn't go there b/c i felt it was a money factory.

Quote from myluvjustice :
I understand where your coming from, our company does refinishing, there was always a need and demand for it in vegas, until the economy went to shit, casinos and hotels were laying off workers and couldnt afford to actually do any work on there properties. the business has alot of exspenses as well, and if we dont have any wrk come in then there is no money coming in either. DH works at least one day a week, but then there are a few weeks here in there that he works maybe 3-5 days, there are also weeks where he has no work at all.

That was why when this job came along I took it, because it was guaranteed income, I can sustain our expenses with just my income, we have learned to live of only whats necessary to survive do to a ruff year in 09.

Im like you I could go to school and look for work, but I would rather keep my current job as it allows me to do everything else that is required of me from my family as well as DH business.
it's time for dh to branch out. is there something else related to the business he can also do? in this economy you have to be flexible or even change your business to go where the money is. i think the best example of that is *flipping out* on bravo. when the economy was good, he was his own boss, he bought properties, renovated and sold them. now he's had to change his business, find and work for clients, design and be project mgr to do renovation for clients.

bff owns a pharmacy but in this day and age you have to find a niche and fill it, especially since they moved across the street to a cvs and a supermarket. they have to find a related area where they can specialize and fill a needed gap. the local hospital is moving closer so they are going to focus on medical/surgical supply since there are no other such businesses closer.

i like to buy things a yr ahead, ex. clothing for 1yr old. my cousin totally thanked me for this b/c she got too much stuff for newborn. they might also have left from the other kids. but probably don't have clothes, since first 2 were boys.

I briefly shared that RL is ugly right now - and it's not yet getting better. I am between 2 lawyers, 3 courts, 2 felonies, 3 misdemeanors and 'a partridge in a pear tree'....(so it feels).

This is 'not me' - but rather one of my sons, who has special needs. It is so stressful - I can't sit still and haven't had time to be here.

I just wanted to say that the PMs when I stopped in for a minute brought me to tears, as I needed to see/know there is goodness in the world. If anybody finds my mind, can you hold it until I return? I am certain I have lost it these last few days...

Serious thanks to all who work hard to help others - in the Target Thread and at SD. This is so often a refuge from the storm. hug
sorry RL is so tough right now. it will get better, just gotta hang in there and do your best.

Thinking about not printing IP's period from smartsource again but will probably get over that. Big Grin
sorry! i wouldn't send coupons anymore to newbies and lurkers. they just don't *get it* in the beginning. my bff at first thought there was nothing wrong w/ doing that for a coupon she really wanted. and she owns a store and used to work in online stores, sigh! i finally got to her that the risk in doing so is not worth the reward.

and sorry tn! unfortunately it's the time we are living in.

I'm going to have to jump on this group too. Does it help that I work in Iowa? nod

I just ordered a photobook from SF - turned out rather nicely. Plus I order my Mom's annual calendar from there each year. I have an account at ArtsCow - but, never ordered.

It is hard to keep up with all the deals. Why, oh why, do we have to work, and sleep and care for kids? It cuts into the bargain hunting!

I like peppers, onions, and radishes. I will eat green beans, broccoli, and cauliflower boiled, mashed and faked up like a potato. I eat salad and for some weird reason hate it less if I am eating out. Corn on the cob is ok but is too high in carbs. I need to make some low carb cole slaw. And I don't care what you threaten me with, I am not eating brussel sprouts.

On the Frontpage today there is a deal on Amazon for 3 packs of Community Coffee for $9. A good deal for coffee that's normally expensive! I ordered some French Vanilla drool

Also, do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? They have really good coffee for $3 for a decent size can. It's whole bean, but I just grind it in the store because I don't have a grinder at home.

I used to go to Iowa several times a summer growing up. We would go camping at Wyalusing in Prairie du Chien (WI) several times a summer. It was my favorite place growing up.

When I was a teen, my grandma married again, and her husband had a house there too.

We used to go over to Marquette and Effigy Mounds.

I vaguely remember something about a weird colored animal statue down on the Mississippi (think IA side, but not sure). Maybe a purple cow?

Edit: I found it, it was a Pink Elephant with a top hat [roadsideamerica.com] named Pinky.
