McDonald's Happy Meal resists decomposition for six months

Vladimir Lenin, King Tut and the McDonald's Happy Meal: What do they all have in common? A shocking resistance to Mother Nature's cycle of decomposition and biodegradability, apparently.

That's the disturbing point brought home by the latest project of New York City-based artist and photographer Sally Davies, who bought a McDonald's Happy Meal back in April and left it out in her kitchen to see how well it would hold up over time.

The results? "The only change that I can see is that it has become hard as a rock," Davies told the U.K. Daily Mail.

She proceeded to photograph the Happy Meal each week and posted the pictures to Flickr to record the results of her experiment. Now, just over six months later, the Happy Meal has yet to even grow mold. She told the Daily Mail that "the food is plastic to the touch and has an acrylic sheen to it."

not surprised shake head....and fat people (MCD addicts) wonder why this stuff doesn't break down after they eat it Scratchchin

...maybe those who come back as zombies are those who only have MCD guts/tissue left after sitting the ground for a while and why they are difficult to kill...and they start craving fresh, real meat

No, you cannot go to a MCD in france and automatically expect them to speak english....

...although I would assume they would speak at least some with the amount of US tourists and the fact that pretty much all the other countries with a decent amount of power have better education systems

The French hate Americans... if you come in and start talking English, most of the time they'll intentionally ignore you and pretend to not understand.

If you start talking a different language, and then switch to English as if that's your 2nd language, they'll treat you with more respect... But trust me, never say you're from America laugh out loud

YMMV, everyone's experience is difference. This was a little while back, though I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better there laugh out loud

okay true...france was a bad example....although, from what I've heard sometimes they prefer American customers since apparently the french people are more "picky" about their food

I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't even allowed to speak English in McDonald's.

It's funny how Americans feel that the French hate Americans because they'll be rude to you if you're in their country and you try to speak English to them.

How do Americans react when foreign tourists (even immigrants) try to speak to them in their native language? Most Americans are pretty rude too. And, they'll laugh and mock them! And, if those ppl try to speak English to them, most Americans are annoyed too.Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

...makes you want to smack them upside the head, or at least I would....(the idiots who support the stereotype that all Americans think they are better than everyone else)

And come on, you've never cleaned out your car to find a three-month-old french fry somewhere and noticed it looked just like it did when you bought it? laugh out loud
They never taste quite as good after that long though. Even if you heat it up and put ketchup on it.

That would be nice if "studies" like this one also did "control" specimens as well. That is, next to the McD's Happy Meal, they should also have burger/fries from home (made all natural), from a non-fast food restaurant, and from other fast food chains.

But, we all know why they don't.........the results wouldn't be very shocking since all the specimens would look somewhat the same. Only the all natural bread would be moldy.
Somewhere I have an orange that is about 10 years old. It dried up and shrank quite a bit but it never got moldy or mushy. The outer peel is hard as a rock. I'm not sure why this one turned out this way--I have thrown out some pretty disgusting oranges over the years; both before and after this one.

When we moved out of our college apartment we found a dried banana way back in one of the cabinets. It was hard as a rock and much smaller (and all black) I think about 15 different people got a great laugh outta that.

I got a picture somewhere I got to try and dig up..
