For Women Only..What's the largest age difference to get married?

2,091 502 October 13, 2010 at 04:52 AM
I am a man.....I have a girl that is interested in marrying me....I feel uncomfortable with our age difference and feel she is too young, but need other opinions because I am no expert in marriage, having never done it before.

I just want to get different opinions on what the women on this board feel is a reasonable (to them) age difference...Please post your opinion, no matter what that is. I am asking women only because I feel they are more in tune with this and have a better perspective...

Thanks in advance.

If you're concerned with age when considering getting married, it doesn't sound like you're too terribly in love. If you were, I don't see why age would be an issue.

Was age an issue when you started dating her? If not, why is it now?

Need more information. The older you get the less difference it makes in my opinion. Plus, depending on how young she is it may just be too young to really be ready to be married and the age difference wouldn't be the real problem.

So, how old are both of you?

As far as asking only women--too bad, take what you get.

Ever couple is different, you can't generalize.

How old are both of you?
How long have you been dating?
Do you have a lot in common?
Are you in love with her?
Are you well off?
Why do you say, 'she wants to marry me' instead of I'm thinking about getting married? (sounds like you're not committed)

I will tell you this...She is 24 and wants to start a family....So based on that just give me your idea of how much older YOU think is reasonable in your mind...There is no right answer...Just looking for individual opinions.

As many have said, very situational. If you don't want to give us details, don't expect us to feel like getting involved in making sweeping generalizations about age and dating.

You clearly are having misgivings about marrying her, so do her a favor and let her go. She still has time to find someone to spend her life with.

I have friends with 20 yrs between them (2 sep. couples) one had kids, the other didn't - in both cases she was in her 20s. Both marriages appear to be just fine to me ... but in both cases, I know they were crazy in love before getting married.

If you're much older ... and never been married, I'm thinkin' you're over thinkin this. Trust your heart ... sounds to me like it's telling you "no".

... the only other reasonable option is to post some nakie pix and let us decide.
