I'm thinking about taking the kids to Traverse City this weekend. Figure it is close enough to get away for a long weekend but far enough to ignore life for a couple of days. The youngest beast won't be with us. She is going to Chicago for the weekend with her grandma for her first American Girl store/doll experience.

Because when I take my kids somewhere...the first day, it's fine...but after that, all of the fighting and can I have's and I wanna's make me want to choke them.

I would LOVE to have her b-day party there. She'll be 7 at the end of the month. But, the closest one is in Chicago and is 7+ hours away from me.

Oh, I am really lucky. My kids are super extra awesome when we are out of town. They are so kind and nice to me and to each other. Heck, D hugged me a dozen or more times on Sunday and thanked me over and over again for taking him to the hockey game and to skate with the team after. He told me that it was the best day every.

Guess it helps that my kids weren't used to us going far. Now that I have my new car I feel safe taking then longer distances. They are so appreciative of little things like a weekend away.
