In college I dated a guy for almost 5 years. We never got married and he never bought a ring/proposed even though we discussed marriage at length. Then I dated another guy for a little longer than a year.
At some point just before I turned 30 I came to the conclusion that if I dated a guy for a year and he hadn't asked me to marry him; he wasn't going to.
I dated my ex-husband for 9 months before he proposed. He was aware of my one year assertion.
We have been split up for more than 6 years now and he proposed to his new fiance after dating her a little more than 2 years.
My current BF and I have dated on two seperate "instances" for lack of a better word. I'm unsure if I should consider one year in total time dating. Or if it should be one continuous year.
I said when the time is right.
My wife and I were dating just over 3 years before getting married.

1. every time you have sex with her, put a quarter in it.
2. everytime you have a fight with her, take out 3 dollars.
when the bottle is full, it is time...
