Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

i found that whole Beth/Dawn sequence clunky. my ideal result would have been Beth returning one of the slaps she received early in her stay and revealing the secrets Dawn/the doctor had confided in her. that would have almost surely caused an insurrection very soon, if not in the hallway. as noted by others, when she finally did stab Dawn, the resulting shot didn't seem very natural from an angle/draw perspective. it was nice Daryl got the revenge shot, though.

i liked Beth, even with her teenage faults, and i thought it was a pretty crappy way to end her story. i also think it was ridiculous that a hallway full of armed, nervous people wouldn't just start firing after the first stabbing/shooting combo.
I found it insanely clunky too. The entire episode, honestly. Jump cuts from scene to scene, like the cops in the parking lot cut directly to hey they're walking in the hospital, got it..

I don't think it's ridiculous, though, that the hallway scene didn't turn into a firefight. Remember that the hospital folk were not backing Dawn whatsoever, merely acting in fear of her authority. Once she was gone, they had absolutely nothing left in terms of motive against Rick's crew, hence the one other officer saying that it's over. I also don't think any of them wanted Beth to die, either.

Well if they stick to the comics with this character then he'll have some value later and whether they inflate that value more in the show later remains to be seen. But he gets used a bit more later then kind of fades into the shadows later in the comics. Since the show is not famous for having people fade into the shadows, I can see him dying later instead.

that's true. i guess i just question how clearly they'd be thinking in that half second after Daryl shoots Dawn while Tyreese and Sasha are raising their guns to their shoulders. i guess it's possible everyone takes a beat (partially because the officers have handguns in holsters), but with the situation, i find it hard to believe that with the shock of a shot, nobody on either side would panic and at least let off one round or go for their guns, causing someone in Rick's group to see a threat and shoot.

but you're right: everyone at the hospital got what they wanted, so they wouldn't have a reason to escalate things. i'd just think they would duck behind something or go to the ground if they weren't going to return fire.

Initially, it started as a joke, but then it became more of a "Why not?" kind of situation. If we assume that the priest is there for a reason, what is that reason? He has been pretty useless so far. We have a character in Noah that has said he is looking for his family. The priest arguably could be that family based on what we know. The two haven't sen each other yet, that I know of. At least until they all meet up coming out of the hospital, and they don't show a reaction or them meeting before the episode ends. As soon as they see each other, we should know if they are related, no?
Just spit balling. My real hunch is that Morgan and Noah are related.
I'm pretty sure Noah went back to the church with Daryl to gather up Rick and the group so he should have been there with the Priest. He also never really indicated that he might have some family just outside of town even though the priest clearly lived there. The connection between the priest and Morgan is still up in the air. It seemed like the food he placed on the alter was for a reason (as if he knew the guy who used to preach there) but for some reason I have a hard time believing he would laugh in a church full of dead walkers and blood if the last person he knew who lived there was a friend or family member.

we are officially in "Rick is a bad guy" territory. that run-in with the "claimed" gang changed him, and Terminus just reinforced it. he's totally OK killing strangers at this point. look how he handled the hospital situation: it took both Daryl and Tyreese to convince him to even entertain a plan that didn't involve slitting the throats of guards. Dale would be aghast, and Tyreese seems to be the only one who retains anything close to a worldview that will keep the group from effectively becoming marauders.
It's going to annoy me if he asks a single other person how many humans they have killed to test them to see if they are worthy of joining the group. That kill shot of the "good cop" was beyond stupid. He had several choices he could have made in that situation and he made the absolute stupidest and most pointless one. When he chose to run down that cop and shoot him in the head he lost all credibility as a leader. He could have stabbed him, let the walkers have him, or thrown him in the trunk and taken him back to the warehouse to use as insurance if the trade went awry. Instead he chose to shoot him in the head thereby potentially ruining their entire plan by alerting the hospital group to their presence, drawing every walker in the city to the area between them and the hospital they had to go to, and potentially having the other kidnapped cops alert the hospital group to the murder the moment they were safely back. The only reason their entire plan didn't blow up in their face is because the writers ensured it by injecting that "he doesn't always respond to my radio calls" comment and throwing the elevator fight scene in.

The actor who plays the priest was very annoying (to me) on the Talking dead.

i simply don't understand those who complain about the amount of dialogue or character development in this show. in the dish network show description, the primary genre is Drama, and shows/movies noted as such tend to be talkies. this also isn't something new: thinking back to season two at the farm, there were several episodes (especially those leading up to opening the barn) that primarily consisted of talking between characters. and you don't even know about slow unless you've watched the middle seasons of Boardwalk Empire.
Ironically the farm season was done that way because AMC and the show were in serious budget talks and essentially the show had no money to spend/ didn't know if they were going to be cancelled, so they had to do all the dialogue just to have filler. It also almost cost them a large portion of their viewership since people hated the farm and all of the talking. So while I see your point, this actually bolsters the argument that fans of the show don't really like when it's 80% dialogue.

that's pretty much what i would expect from a post-apocalyptic landscape. think about it: say there's a cataclysmic event and we start with "good" groups and "bad" groups in a small geographic area. all will likely find a spot to call home, and all will eventually run out of resources there and be forced to explore, leading to interaction between groups.

now when a good group meets a good group, everyone is understandably suspicious since, well, that's human nature, and it's probably made worse by the heightened survival stakes resulting from no overarching system of order. even within those good groups, it just takes one Shane to create a misunderstanding or rash action to turn the suspicious groups against each other, maybe even causing them to kill each other. this would make the winning group even less trusting of strangers and maybe more willing to abuse future ones, likely moving them over to the bad category by little bits.

when a good group meets a bad group, the bad group will simply pretend to be good until they can take advantage of the good group, either wiping them out or leaving them in the same distrusting downward spiral toward bad that the losing good group above is in. the most extreme example of this so far is Terminus, but Rick's group is heading down a similar path.

of course, Hershel and his group are the exception, but it's because Rick's group found them pretty soon after the event and the farm was spared interaction with the outside world due to its relative isolation; had a bad group come upon the farm before Rick's, the outcome could have been very different. it didn't hurt that Hershel himself was supremely averse to violence and had nearly complete control over his people.

eventually, nearly all groups end up nearing the bad spectrum because all the purely good, trusting groups are dead. Shane had some very valid points.
Totally agree with this part.

I thought it was pretty funny how the doctor was just standing there after the shots. I would have thought he'd be the first to run or dive for cover.

I'm watching the current rerun of where Lori gives birth. I noticed they messed up by having Maggie asking Carl if he wants to help her deliver his sister. Later Lori saying her goodbye before her c-section says to him to take care of his little brother or sister.

I'm not seeing anyone else noted the mistake-
