Did you watch?
For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

And if they think they will win the viewership of "Gay America", they could not be more wrong. None of my gay friends---NONE!---find him attractive, and NONE of them like the show anyway. They think it's stupid.

The whole ASZ plot has been paced terribly and any chemistry is just forced.

i've been on vacation for the last two weeks, so i caught up on two previous episodes yesterday before watching the newest one. i will not comment on on the myriad of things that happened in those episodes because i'd probably hit the per-post character limit here, but i have one questions that divided the group with whom i watched the show last night: would you have backed Rick during and after his tirade? as it cut to black with Michonne in her official constable garb, that was the first question that came up.
it should be obvious by this point that the two groups cannot coexist inside the walls. Rick's group is slowly taking over, and even Deanna remarked to Maggie that they were acquiring positions of power quickly enough to give pause to the other residents. Deanna seems to reject the peace offering sent after the loss of her son, so that might suggest she was already thinking Rick's group was wearing out its welcome. after the pointed conversation between her and Rick in front of the graves, it's clear they have very different ideas about what constitutes acceptable punishment and government, so that relationship was on thin ice anyway. the fight with Pete alone probably would have been enough to get Rick removed as constable, but drawing the the pistol was obviously a line-crossing act that cannot be taken back.
i tried to put myself in the place of one of Rick's members as soon as he pulled the gun, and i think i would have backed him. with that single act, Rick is guaranteed to be removed from any position of leadership, and likely banished (they might even banish other members of his group). in addition, those who aren't big fans of his group could easily use that as "proof" his compatriots need to be monitored and trusted less than other residents, probably removing them from places of leadership as well. with the deep-seeded culture of running at the first sign of danger and neglecting even basic defense strategies, every run or walk around the walls would be like Russian roulette. as i said above: the groups cannot coexist, so the coup was going to happen at one point, and as bad as Rick's timing was (shades of Shane at Hershel's barn), it put things irrevocably in motion. you already have the entire leadership chain (Deanna, husband, son) there at gunpoint, so you might as well start the transition.
that led to a discussion of the arc of the series as a whole: we're basically at the point that Rick's group is considered marauders. as with basically all conflict, it comes down to scarcity of resources, and Rick has gotten more and more aggressive with acquiring those resources until he is now about to overthrow a seemingly quaint bastion of civilization because he has a hard on for a married woman. i'm actually a little curious where they're going to take things after this point; i wouldn't think they'd want to do a show about villains, so maybe split the group? do a redemptive moment before starting the decline anew? best bet is probably to expose whoever is doing the "W" work to provide a darker contrast to make Rick's group relatively relatable again.
I guess I just don't see how someone could be so homophobic that they would stop watching a fictional show if Daryl came out as gay.

Some people (myself included) often become so invested in a character in a movie or TV show that when there is a sudden or unexpected "character shift", we lose interest.
