Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

man, Carol had some lady balls walking around in her getup. Maggie, Carl, Espinosa, and Aaron all had firearms, and the last would have no idea she would be up to such shenanigans. there was nothing keeping other Alexandria residents from raiding the armory (outside of lack of experience), so it was very possible she could have taken some friendly fire, especially while towing Morgan.

and the persistent question: when Morgan confronted the group, the guy hinted yet again that the members didn't choose their lifestyle, but were forced into it. where are all the wolves coming from? Deanna said they had banished members, but i have a hard time believing they threw out that many: it was hard to get numbers, but just going from kills and survivors, there had to be around two dozen people in the assault. when Deanna talked about banishment, it sounded like it wasn't a very common occurrence.

an ongoing theme of the show is people who are unwilling to do the difficult things end up paying for it over time, going back to Carl neglecting to kill the walker who ended up killing Dale. with that backdrop, it would make sense that at least the leaders of the wolves were ex-Alexandrians, and i'm also a little worried for Morgan because the head of the group he confronted grabbed a handgun as he left. so Morgan allowed at least five "enemies" to leave the battle with firsthand knowledge of Alexandria's layout and defenses, as well as a decent upgrade to their offensive capabilities (even having one pistol makes you much more dangerous than only having edged/blunt weapons).

it takes some measure of guts and self awareness to admit you're going to be worthless in a fight, but seriously Spencer, screw off. watching your community be literally hacked to pieces through a scope when you're more than physically capable of intervening is bordering on unforgivable. we saw the other end of the spectrum when Denise at least tried to save Holly.

the episode ended on a relatively calm note, panning back on that nearly-empty street. but wait: there's a horde of walkers who are apparently zeroing in on that truck horn. we had a commercial break between the crash and Morgan shutting it down, so we don't know if it was on for thirty seconds or five minutes. if it was relatively short, i'm guessing Rick and the rest could bring the parade back to the planned route, but if the walkers got dispersed enough in the woods, they the guiders shouldn't be able to pull them all back.

if Deanna harbors any lingering doubts about Rick's group taking over, she had better make her move quickly. between losing Reg to Pete, Pete to the ensuing execution, and Carter to the parade, her power base to stand up to Rick is lessening by the day.

they only dedicated a small amount of time to Carl's angsty love triangle misunderstandings, but even that was too much for me. there's a part of me that's interested in how a teenager experiences the zombie apocalypse (that's why i was sad when Beth died), but almost nothing the teenagers have done in Alexandra has been interesting enough to steal precious screen time from other, more pressing issues. seriously Carl, get a haircut. and show of hands: who wants Jessie to just straight up backhand Ron?

it'll be interesting to see how such close contact with the threats of the world (walkers for the parade people, wolves for the survivors of the attack) affect the residents of Alexandria. they've had the luxury of leaning heavily toward the isolationist side until this point, but that doesn't appear to be an option anymore. do they blame Rick and the rest (this crap didn't start happening until they showed up)? do they get cold blooded and start wanting to go after the wolves? do they stay delusional and resist efforts to prepare them for the next attack?

No one wants to mention that JSS girl is with the wolves? She admitted it to Carl, but he wasn't listening.

I'll chalk it up to adrenaline as to why Maggie didn't swap weapons with Spencer. That scoped rifle he had would have made short work of the intruders.

apparently, i wasn't either. Smilie

i thought it was weird how calm she was, but didn't pick up on anything specific about her dialog with Carl. after looking at the transcript, it looks like you're right:
Quote :
Enid: Hi.
Carl: Why didn't you just knock?
Enid: I have these. Didn't want them to have them. And I wanted to say goodbye.
Carl: Okay, watch the back door. Tell me if you see them coming.
Enid: I'm not staying.
Carl: You're not going anywhere. Sit down. You're helping me protect Judith. They're not getting inside this house. We're not gonna let them.
Enid: Did you see them? They're just people. This place is too big to protect. There are too many blind spots. That's how we were able to--
Carl: They got in the walls, but they're gonna die. All of them. Don't tell me good-bye.
Enid: Okay. I won't.

I initially thought she was working for someone when we first met her. But then when Carl followed her out I bought their explanation that she was another "misfit" that just needed to get away from the sterile atmosphere. So they fooled me there. I guess I paid attention to how she said it because I had suspected her at some point in the past.

The name of the person she killed, "Aphid". I recall it was in the Talking Dead triva.

I'm not watching the show this season but have seen quite a few comments on social media and a couple of blogs about tonight's episode, and what everyone is thinking happened, didn't really happen.
