Did you watch?

For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's on the membership card. I'm just confused about that entire interaction. I did read that there's a lot of speculation as to who these people are based on the comics, but I never got that far so to me it was just people that wanted to escape other people, found a guy that proved he could help them do just that, listened to him talk about his friends maybe being caught, and decided to steal his bike and take off.

Seriously, was there any point to the whole thing? Or was it just an episode that needed an excuse to follow Daryl and show how he's coming along in terms of feeling and perspective?
I'm not caught up yet if there's any comics aspect to this group, but I think it's probably a plot device for Daryl to start turning towards the "you can help people and be nice and they're still going to find a way to be dicks" side of thought.

I haven't watched any of this season. I just read the FB updates on Sunday nights and can figure it out. It's far less painful that way. laugh out loud

Who else is annoyed by the growing trend of the "mid season finale" etc?

It makes you care about the middle episodes because they cut the seasons in two and gives you something to look forward to when it picks up next. I think that they set up a lot of good points for the midseason this year (Glenn and Maggie, Carl and Ron, the wall falling, and Carol and Morgan).

I think I know part of what happens in the midseason in terms of the comics.

All I could think of last night was "this show is Gilligan's Island all over again".

While I am glad that Glenn is not dead, I do think the showrunners screwed up royally with this one. They purposefully screwed with the fans on this one. It was a total dick move on their part.

i believe i had that one, vis-a-vis Glenn. glad to see that lame fakeout cliffhanger is over, but the way they set up the matching of him and Enid makes me thing they're going to be by themselves for a while. seems like they should rush in and help with the breach, but it just feels to me like Glenn is going to try to rehabilitate someone again. after what happened to Nicholas, Enid might be better off bitter and lonely. also, a side note: apparently having a person's corpse covering roughly 20% of your body, not including your head or legs, is enough to keep a crowd of walkers from biting you for 10-20 seconds. good to know.

this week was the one for a properly executed, GoT-like "eff you" to the audience. as soon as Carol saw the wolf in the locked townhouse, i would have been perfect to have her simply shoot Morgan in the face in front of Denise. it would have been totally unexpected (especially after the extended backstory episode) and totally in character, as well as putting Rick in a place where he has to decide if she's valuable enough to abide the occasional unauthorized murder/corpse-burning.

speaking of Morgan: you have to exile him, right? he confirmed the people he let go literally shot at Rick right afterward, and once it comes out he's been harboring an enemy who shows no signs of repentance, he's simply too much of a risk to keep around. give him some food and all that, but he's the last guy i'd want fighting next to me.

very odd choice to keep the armory down the hall from the infirmary and not having it secured outside of trusting Denise checks it regularly. if Carl gets out of this (and if he doesn't, i can't wait to see evil/unhinged Rick again!), he should really learn to lay off the smugness when teaching someone who might hate him how to use a firearm.

That was so mind-numbingly intentional that it was painful to watch.

I'm not surprised that nobody wants to talk about that underwhelming finale. Ugh.

yeah, the only "significant" loss was Deanna, but she's been sitting on a hollow throne since Reg died. one person in each separated group despaired, and another person in that group comforted them. Ron sucks at killing people as much as Morgan sucks at keeping people alive. row townhouses appear to be much better at resisting hordes of undead than standalone neo-Victorians, which actually does make some sense. Morgan's life creed is a extreme, overly-simplified ideology with deadly real-world implications, but anyone with two brain cells to rub together already knew that.

was the "fight" between Carl and Ron the sissiest one you've ever seen? considering there was a shovel, a gun, and several gardening/metalworking tools available, the fact no blood was spilled is inexcusable.

it drives me crazy how the writers completely throw away character traits for short-term payoffs. the worst one in this episode was Maggie (a veteran of the prison, Woodbury, Terminus, and dozens of wild walker fights) falling over herself walking away from the encroaching biters and losing all coordination climbing the ladder. but hey, it bought fifteen seconds of suspense that nobody truly believed.

episodes like this reinforce to me that the only reason i keep watching is to be able to talk about the show with a few friends.

Couple more "mom?"s and most of the problems are resolved.

And 15'? Who -wouldn't- have taken the shot?
