Did you watch?
For a show on a non premium cable channel, I thought it was very good. I never read the comic, so I don't know how it compares, but I'll be watching every Sunday. pisses me off that I don't get AMC in HD though.

Seriously, was there any point to the whole thing? Or was it just an episode that needed an excuse to follow Daryl and show how he's coming along in terms of feeling and perspective?
I think I know part of what happens in the midseason in terms of the comics.

this week was the one for a properly executed, GoT-like "eff you" to the audience. as soon as Carol saw the wolf in the locked townhouse, i would have been perfect to have her simply shoot Morgan in the face in front of Denise. it would have been totally unexpected (especially after the extended backstory episode) and totally in character, as well as putting Rick in a place where he has to decide if she's valuable enough to abide the occasional unauthorized murder/corpse-burning.
speaking of Morgan: you have to exile him, right? he confirmed the people he let go literally shot at Rick right afterward, and once it comes out he's been harboring an enemy who shows no signs of repentance, he's simply too much of a risk to keep around. give him some food and all that, but he's the last guy i'd want fighting next to me.
very odd choice to keep the armory down the hall from the infirmary and not having it secured outside of trusting Denise checks it regularly. if Carl gets out of this (and if he doesn't, i can't wait to see evil/unhinged Rick again!), he should really learn to lay off the smugness when teaching someone who might hate him how to use a firearm.

was the "fight" between Carl and Ron the sissiest one you've ever seen? considering there was a shovel, a gun, and several gardening/metalworking tools available, the fact no blood was spilled is inexcusable.
it drives me crazy how the writers completely throw away character traits for short-term payoffs. the worst one in this episode was Maggie (a veteran of the prison, Woodbury, Terminus, and dozens of wild walker fights) falling over herself walking away from the encroaching biters and losing all coordination climbing the ladder. but hey, it bought fifteen seconds of suspense that nobody truly believed.
episodes like this reinforce to me that the only reason i keep watching is to be able to talk about the show with a few friends.

And 15'? Who -wouldn't- have taken the shot?
