The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure @amazon

305 66 November 10, 2010 at 03:12 PM in Chat
Man, I've seen a lot of things on the web and there have been few times that it's so shocking, it haunts me. This is one of those WTF....For some reason, Amazon selling : "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure" just leaves me speechless. I buy everything from Amazon except for food....I don't know if I'll be shopping at Amazon anytime soon...just my opinion.

I'm soo fark.i.n.g. piss at amazon right now. It's one of my favorite online store too. But I can't support this kind of behavior.
Seriously, you're going to boycott an awesome retailer like Amazon because they sell a book you happen to not like?

That's pretty ridiculous, IMO. But hey, whatever, I'm sure Amazon will do just fine without you. laugh out loud

I have no idea what's in the book, and the link's gone, and I'm sure as hell not going to go looking for it, but based on the title, I thought perhaps it was a way for them to overcome their problem, not a book on how to molest children? Dontknow

Better them reading a book than spending time with children, I'd say.

And I certainly won't boycott them because they sell something I might not agree with - Amazon is awesome. heart

I agree. At first I was upset, but now thinking about people's right of free speech I dont think Amazon will take this book down
I agree with both of you.

I really wish there was no opportunity for these kinds of people to ever get back out on the streets when they're caught, because from what I've read, people with these kinds of sicknesses can't be rehabilitated. But even still, so many are never even caught.

Associated Press also published the story....this is going to go around the world if it hasn't already. I defend the 1st amendment, but not when someone tries to abuse it this way

Books promoting pedophilia go too far.

Of course, I'm in the camp of believing we should execute pedophiles, not treat them.

I don't really support the death penalty but it's hard to argue against it in those scenarios. I would like to throw them in Jail forever but not have to pay for it Scratchchin ...but you know that if you release them, a good percentage of them will do harm again....and again, and again

It was a book encouraging it and explaining how to have a pedo relationship. And yes I would boycott a website. Somethings are just more important then saving a few pennies IMO.

I can't believe Amazon sells the Bible! Do you know what kind of trash that book encourages?

I am 100% with tresanus on this. Less censorship is more freedom.

i was thinking of the same argument.
not selling religious books,
and anything illegal/"immoral" would impede us from exercising our freedom o.o

I agree. I thought there was a law stating pedophiles/sexual predators had to stay a certain distance from schools. Two months ago I got spooked walking home and googled registered sex offenders in my area when I got home. Turns out there are 10+ living in my area (1 on my block 1 down the street) and 4 right either right across, on the same block or within a block from the local elementary school. I wanted to print their pictures and post it around the school and neighborhood but the website says that's harassment.. Frown

It wouldn't be harassment to put up links to the Registered Sex Offenders website though, right? bulb

I live in a small "city" of about 13,000 people.
Out of 6 schools, there is only 1 with houses bordering a playground. Out of 8 houses total in the entire city, 1 is owned by a registered sex offender.
A Milwaukee station did a report on sex offenders locations near schools ... this guy was the only one that answered his door.
Everyone at that school knows exactly what the guy looks like. He has never been seen watching out the window or creeping ...

Even if our state passed a law now with minimum distances, he'd be grandfathered in (yikes - that saying just got creepy Blink ). He actually had his house on the market for a while ... it didn't sell ... he's still there.

I have a question. You discover a book titled "A Wife Beaters' Handbook" that has a photo of a disheveled woman on the cover with a tear in her eye and a frown on her face. She is looking down. Her shirt is dirty and it slightly torn. The blurb on the cover indicates there are more photos and instructions within the book.

How would you react?
