The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure @amazon

305 66 November 10, 2010 at 03:12 PM in Chat
Man, I've seen a lot of things on the web and there have been few times that it's so shocking, it haunts me. This is one of those WTF....For some reason, Amazon selling : "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure" just leaves me speechless. I buy everything from Amazon except for food....I don't know if I'll be shopping at Amazon anytime soon...just my opinion.

Pedophilia isn't an act. It defines adults that are attracted to children. The book may or may not discourage the act of harming children. I have no idea. I tend to assume it describes alternate means of love and pleasure. If not I'll join the lynch mob and brandish my katana.
I have to agree with you. We only know what the author says is in the book and nothing else. For all we know, it's helpful to these individuals in managing their problem.

But the knee-jerk reactions in here, the "OMG, he's encouraging child molestation, let's boycott Amazon for selling this book!" are just plain ridiculous. Not to mention jumping to what could be false conclusions.

Where do you draw the line?
How about a book on how to smoke weed?
What about a book on how to hot wire a car?
An illegal act is an illegal act. Making the book does not equal the act..
The first two are single criminal acts involving an object. And for the sake of argument -- if all three crimes are committed by the same person -- they only involve an adult criminal. Pedophilia is a criminal act performed on a child. A human being is used not an object.

I have a question. You discover a book titled "A Wife Beaters' Handbook" that has a photo of a disheveled woman on the cover with a tear in her eye and a frown on her face. She is looking down. Her shirt is dirty and it slightly torn. The blurb on the cover indicates there are more photos and instructions within the book.

How would you react?
Well, it wouldn't make it onto my reading list. But it's not even close to the same thing. The beaten wife is an adult. She has made an adult choice to stay in that environment.

I could have a fantasy where I was a ninja that went around decapitating people with my katana.. would that make me a bad person? Should I be portrayed as a potential murderer? Unless I go purchase a katana, make dummies with people's faces on them, and then decapitate said dummies, I say no.

Actually, in this instance a wife beater is a sleeveless t-shirt and the handbook would contain photos of various tank tops along with tips on cleaning, maintaining and repairing them. Thanks for proving my point though.

I'm not sure what's going on here but I actually find myself agreeing with itxtwhlstdrving and Mal. Blink There is a major difference between "thinking about something" and "performing a criminal act".

I despise censorship.

What harm will this book do? Seriously. You want to tell me that someone might be browsing books and think "I think I'll buy this" and then go harm a child because they read it? Huh Really?

What good could it do? Could someone read it to better defend themselves FROM pedophilia? Could someone possibly even help someone with the information? Realistically, who is going to order this book on-line? (I don't have a problem with tracking those people)

This book was pulled = once again, America (and Freedom) lost. Voltaire is right.

My thoughts exactly. People need to stop getting caught up in the emotional aspect of the book...

All of this information was available before, and will be available after. This "outrage" is only going to lead to more book sales. Good job America, you just single handedly:

1. Gave a ton of free publicity and therefore a ton of money to someone who you despise
2. Turned Amazon into the thought police
3. Made yourselves feel better. . . about yourselves

I hope it feels good on the high horse, you stupid-stupid unwashed masses. It is impossible to censor speech. It's called the farking internet. Even beyond this, there are still a shit-ton of similar books with less provocative titles for sale on the same goddamned website.

I'm not saying the book is good for people. I'm not saying Amazon should or should not be selling the book. I'm saying that nearly everyone in the country responds to logical problems with emotional responses - it doesn't do anyone any good.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. I mean, everyone gets in this huge outrage about adults harming children. Making big statements. "Man, if I ever saw one of those guys - I'd kill 'em!" No shit, every single functioning person feels this way! So counter-productive America, shame on you for your idiocy.

Ok the book actually gives you advice in how.. This book would help no one except those who intend to hurt children. And someone who may be but has not yet, could read this and use the advice to harm children.

Edit: No one busted me on my type, I just woke up so. Stick Out Tongue
