People in the Mid-West/North-East...are you ready to shovel/de-ice again? *New storm coming Tuesday 2/1 into Wednesday 2/2*

I can't believe it....first major snow storm this year for the area and it's going to be a blizzard! we only had 1 snowfall earlier in the month and it was only about 2 inches.

a few days ago I checked weather.com and it only said snow showers for sunday & monday and now there is a blizzard warning and expecting 11-16 inches of snow. what a dramatic change.

I love snow so I am excited. (except when I have to drive....lol)

Do you love or hate snow?

About to go shoveling but I love snow since we don't get it much. It's a treat for me.

UPS has been closed due to big snow storms before?
nod It's been a few years, but usually they make them work. They don't care about their drivers.

Not to mention he has to snowblow all this tonight and tomorrow and then get up for work at 6:30 for UPS just to do pick-ups for a few hours and most likely half the places will be closed. Hopefully they'll just call him tonight and say they aren't working tomorrow..they already declared a state of emergency and shut a lot of stuff down for tomorrow..so who knows.Dontknow
My son and my husband used to go snow skiing - and we had snow pants for that purpose - and when they stopped doing so - I held onto the snow pants for some odd reason - and they are perfect for snow blowing in - they keep him warm - and drier than just wearing jeans or whatever - and the coat I bought him after Christmas last year is a ZeroDown coat - so it keeps him really warm as well - and he has a hat that is also a face mask to it - and I bought him really good gloves at the Ski Shop - and he has good boots for this as well - so I got him fully prepared to go outside for this and wind gusts up to 40mph are not going to help at all with all of this Frown

We'll invite you to come to our houses and shovel - and we'll even make you hot coco or a hot toddy as well - whichever you prefer - and we still have pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, cookies, and other goodies you can gobble on as you come in and out from the Cold

Yea the wind is going to be nuts. They said 35 -40 with gusts up to 50's tonight.EEK!

He told me I need to learn how to use the snowblower...the thing is bigger then me...laugh out loud

Luckily he has his Under Amour and winter gear from work. He's going to need it. I'll probably help shovel the "clean up" parts and put down the Ice Melt for the icey areas. But ughh hate this weather. I am so not a winter person, yet I live in the Northeast..Doh

Good Luck to you and the Hubby. hug Just x-ing my fingers for no Power Loss or anything bad...OMG

I never minded snowblowing at all unless the wind was blowing that hard. Seems like the wind is always blowing from the direction you need to throw the snow and it all blows right back at you. That's one thing I like about using the atv to plow with. I don't have to fight the wind and I can keep things opened up enough until the storm is done and then go do what I have to with the snowblower.

Facemask and gloves are always the most important to me. When snowblowing I am usually working hard enough that I don't get cold except for my hands and face.

Is it true UPS drivers aren't suppose to take cash tips? And is it true that UPS drivers get a commission if they get someone to sign for a package if it doesn't require one? Or the more sig packages they have the better?

I really like the snow, but I hate having to drive to work (no such thing as snow days!) or school (sometimes it's blizzarding here, and fine 30 minutes away where my university is) in bad snow. I have good snow tires, but none the less, I've had some scary experiences.

Last year one I had a final exam to take. We had gotten something like 4 feet of snow that day, and I was totally snowed in. The main route to school was closed. I somehow got out of my driveway, only to get stuck on the highway. I made it about a mile away from home, and was stuck on the closed highway for 6 hours. I called my prof to explain why I wouldn't be at the exam. She wasn't sympathetic at all. She did tell me I could take the exam the next day at 8am. It sucked. I wasn't sure I was going to get off the highway at all that night.

The city had gotten like 2 inches.

I just went to see something in Boston and left during intermission because I heard it was getting real nasty out. Scariest car ride of my life! I already have at least 6 inches here in Newton (MA).

At least after Christmas it is a good time to be snowed in. I have plenty of cleaning to do and barbies to unpackage!

No storm predicted here but I just ran to town and there was one SUV rolled over in the ditch and a car in the ditch about 2 miles from my house. From there into town there were about a half-dozen spots where vehicles had gone off the road. We had a little bit of freezing rain that must have caught everyone off guard.

I'd help you if I were your neighbor. Good thing I am not your neighbor. laugh out loud

Went to the supermarket for some can-o-spaghetti, it's brutal out there! My face hurt from the horizontal snow.

They used to get money for sales leads ( signing up business for UPS accounts), now they get points towards a gift in a stupid Amway type catalog..Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

So yes, then can take cash tips.(USPS is not suppose to because it's government owned)

No, they don't get any extra money from UPS for doing anything extra..it's expected of them.Mad Oh things like helping other drivers, you have to do or it's grounds for termination. ( amongst other stupid stuff, like not wearing your seatbelt x times can lead up to termination..)

Anyways fiance just got the call, UPS is closed here tomorrow. BUT they will call him back in the morning if they decide to resume just Pick-Ups.
So if you're in the Northeast, don't expect any packages tomorrow..Nono2
