I got told yesterday by my boss that I'm changing positions at work after 9+ years.
I totally relate, although I was in my position for only a year and a half, when I was told two weeks ago my position had been taken away (nobody is in it now) and was thrown into my current position. Then today I was told I will be doing what my boss (who quit monday) was doing? I haven't been given exact details yet so I feel like it could be horrible or great I'm not sure yet? Oh and all this was not told to me by the big boss, but the big boss of the company that's merging with ours.

Its all happened very rapidly and is kind of scary.

Someone posted this story on a parenting board I'm on. Have tissue handy, is a tear jerker, in a good way.

I'm actually the one allergic to nuts. Boooooo because I used to live off peanut butter. One day, had an airborne reaction to it. I will let the kids have things processed in a plant that processes peanuts but Snickers and such... those are a no go. I feel like a freak running around behind them as it is getting them to wash their hands etc. My 8 yr old is AWESOME about that, btw. Probably part of that ritualistic behavior of autism. He often asks before I do if something has a peanut warning, and he is really really good about washing his hands after eating those products.

Monkey toddler is lactose intolerant and allergic to penicillin. Otherwise, the other 3 don't seem to have any noticeable allergies. Thank goodness.

DS and her son (I think) have nut allergies as well. Or is it gator? I can never remember. Embarrassment

We are co-sleepers in general, didn't start out that way with our oldest but that's how it ended up. Monkey toddler still sleeps with us so my answer is usually going to be... let them sleep with you. EmbarrassmentBig Grin They are only little and snuggly for such a short time.

Oh yeah, how I got dh to use coupons. After we had the first yard sale, cleared out much of the stockpile and made $700, he hasn't griped since about what I buy and how many coupons. He stopped at the commissary a few times to get Rolaids with the $4/2 mq (teeny bit of overage but they allow overage! OMG). Tomorrow, he has Schick Intuition mq and orders to get 8 razors. (thanks Hawaiian Dawn for posting that commissary deal over here! Big Grin)

Thanks for being so thoughtful Cathi! I will buy plain M&Ms, and even allow my kids to have them (with reminders about washing hands etc) but I ask parents about allergies. I have a separate bowl with Twizzlers and Tootsie Rolls (nut/peanut/gluten free) and Hershey Kisses (peanut/nut free). I think Starburst are also nut-safe but I personally wouldn't eat the ones that are packaged in the large bag with the Snickers.

And my thought about Mavis and the stress is that ime when mommy is stressed, babies instinctively are calmer when near mommy. Part of the fight or flight instinct that we mammals can't get away from.laugh out loud Babies know mommy will protect them from whatever.
Awww sorry Frown I love my PB too... I am not a large eater by any stretch of the imagination so I normally only eat quick stuff even tho I cook large dinners.. awww is your 8 year old your oldest? That is soooooooo sweet!!

My DH gets irritated easily so even if someone looked @ a coupon wrong, I think he would have a heart attack LOL It would be sooooooooooo much easier if he would shop too... LMAO double the coupons, you know what I mean!?!

meeshe, it just takes the right motivation. Dh got a 5 day trip to Hershey and 3 days in Williamsburg for his coupon efforts. laugh out loud He used to not "get" coupons, and couponing, but now sees just how far it spreads the money.

And no, my oldest is 14. She was never a peanut butter fan anyway so it hasn't bothered her. The only one that did eat peanut butter was my now 11 yr old but she's happy with sunflower butter.

You know that when we were out of town, first thing I did was find out where the closest Target to the hotel was. LMAO In Williamsburg, we lived in that area for 6 years so I knew which Targets would be more coupon friendly and have the better clearance finds. Cool

Here's hoping for all those with position changes, that they work out in your favor, this is a very tough employee environment, and it's bringing out the ugly in employers everywhere.

I completely agree! My brother and sister have both been looking for permanent jobs for the last year. My brother is being offered less money for more work, even for a job he held years ago (Lowe's assistant manager). Companies are really taking advantage of people imo.

Monkey toddler took a 10 minute nap at 9:30. I say nap because he is still up, bouncing around the house. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

That's so weird my brother is a regional for lowes and they just added more stores to region. It's really taxing him.

On the peanut thing my kids are all out of the house (older) and never had allergy problems so I am embarrased to say I just hadn't thought about it. Hopefully either the kids have been aware or there parents were paying attention when they have come here. It kinda just wasn't on my radar.

DH conviently forgets to use coupons when I give them to him, so he's not allowed to shop anymore lol.

What about nutella? Dd and I have been wanting to try it, we do not have peanut allergies, but I'm cutting fat/calories/carbs as much as possible here and there.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't either until I developed an allergy to peanuts. hug

That has hazelnuts in it. I did find a soynut butter with honey in it, my dd likes that. The Sunbutter is her favorite, tastes more like peanut butter. A little over a year ago it was $3 a jar at Target. It's now $7. Hmm.

Dh has forgotten to use coupons before as well. He knows he will not hear the end of it, especially for things like 10% off at Lowe's. Stinker.

Unfortunately everyone is settling for more work for much less pay these days. It seems everyone is walking on eggshells. My mil is fulltime employee who is now on call, at one of the casinos, and unfortunantly there's not too many casinos hiring etc. They are all cutting back so they can't keep there profits.

Setsail, so if u are alergic to peanuts, are u alergic to hazelnuts as well?

And what about reecses (I can't spell) I never even thought about giving out peanut less candy? Defiantly will keep that in mind this year although we had no tricker treaters last year.

I'm not allergic to tree nuts but I avoid them anyway, just in case. Embarrassment It's almost a phobia now for me. I used to love Reese's, and chocolate covered peanuts, and peanut M&Ms.... Frown
