Oh, the most horrible thing happened this morning to one of DDs new friends! DD had her in a few classes and had mentioned her to me a few times but they had not gotten a chance to hang out after school yet but had been trying to set it up. So DDs friend was walking to school and waiting to cross the street when she was hit by a car. Driving the car was another 13 yr old girl who had missed the bus and taken her Aunts car without the Aunts knowledge. The 13 yr old driver was going around the corner mistook the gas for the brake went out of controll drove right into the girl and crushed the girl into a cinderblock retaining wall. My DDs friend held on for a few hours but passed away around lunchtime. The whole school is wearing pink tomorrow, DDs friends favorite color. And this is why I worry so much constantly! DD loves to walk to school and home from school and I worry the whole time even though it is only a 15 min walk. The 13 yr driver is being charged through the juvi courts with involuntary vehicular manslaughter. So devastatingly sad for all the families. I can't even imagine how it would be to kiss DD bye for school and then never see her smiling face again. It fills me with so much anxiety and fear I feel like I am going to have a panic attack and I can't breath! I know I worry to much sometimes, but it is hard to not worry about everything.

Today is my 16 yr annivesary, DH is working out of town so we had celebrated last weekend but I still feel so lonely for him today. And this evening.

Good thing we are out of almost everything yummy, except M&Ms we have lots of those. sigh....

Today was sooooo busy. Saw lots of coupon users that required lots of K1. Figured AP would handcuff me after all the K1's today but noone said a word.

I can definitely say it was not me... I am so very much NOT a make-up-y person... (please don't take away my girl card...)

Rachael - I'm still figuring anything could happen. I'm going to stay on the positive side and not worry about it until they tell me it's surgery time. (at which point, there won't be any point to worry about it because it'll be getting fixed!)

The renter we had has never been found and he was 30. I just sent a batch of his mail to his mom and she emailed to thank me and say that now that a year since he went missing is coming up nothing has got easier and they still worry, pray, and search for him everyday. Every lead has still ended up cold. It is like he drove to Henderson and then vanished into thin air, well I guess that IS what happened. DH thinks he may have been kidnapped for organs, he was very healthy and never drank or smoked in his life. Had no kids or wife, living away from family, looking all over for work. DH thinks it would have been easy to 'interview' him and find he was a match and then drug him or something.

So right now we are all tucked in at home, safe, happy, and healthy and I am very gratefull.

Reflecting on the sad story Nikayla told us.. I think all of us parents know all too well what its like to always worry about our children and attempt to protect them from everything.. I am always scared to let the kids go anywhere alone or walk on the road or even go to the mall w/ them and they may get out of site... scary

I am just looking at my little ones, each of their little faces.. I love them more than anything and would give the world to keep them safe.. scary stuff..

Yep. And sometimes I think life events have made me into an overprotective parent. I don't allow them to spend the night at someone else's house, I don't allow them to ride in a car with anyone else (and even dh, because he's an inattentive jerk at times). Yes I know it's an issue I have to work on but at the same time, trying to balance keeping the kids safe. Reading stories about people kidnapped, accidents while walking on the road, just reinforce those feelings for me.

My p&pt are with the families of all these lost children. I can't imagine what they are going through right now.

Okay, if you order online and they forgot an item, shouldn't they send it to you without charging? AE forgot an item and when I called for a replacement, they charged my card, but sent me out a GC for that amount, which apparently made sense to them. I just got an email back from them, saying they can't send anything out without charging, even if it was a missed item. Is it just me or is this totally stupid? I only got charged for $3.xx (it was a pair of undies), but that's not the point. I paid with a GC because I didn't want to pay out of my bank account for the order!

Were you charged for the item on the original order, even though the item didn't make it into the box?

If it were Lands' End, they would send the replacement out free of charge plus offer free shipping on another order. Gymboree, they credit the original item's cost then recharge (but free shipping) for the item to be shipped.

Nikayla, I totally missed that post and OMG how horrible?? That's just so so sad. I know a few friends that died while I was in school and I sometimes wonder if one of my children will have that same fate. It's horrible to think about but it is the reality of it. I feel bad for both families. I am sure the driver feels absolutely devastated and she will live with that for her entire life.

Nikayla, I had wondered if there had been any news about your renter. How awful. Just as the stories of all these young people dying in tragic, senseless accidents in the last few days. The world just doesn't make any sense sometimes.

I totally over lookedthis horrific story earlier I was skimming and didnt actually read through it. Its very sad, I feel horrible for both families there lives will never be the same. I fear my dd wanting to walk to school for this reason, that or being kidnapped.

What a tragedy for soo many people, this is just too sad .

Hope your daughter doesn't stay upset for long must be a shock to lose a peer at that age.

Our schools have grief counseling when something like this occurs, they hold group sessions after school for the kids, when a high school student or classmate dies ,maybe your school will do the same.
