that's amazing about your son! the brains of children are so incredible hug makes you realize just how much we have yet to learn about ourselves and the amazing human body.

Pcola has awesome parades and Mardi Gras rocks for such a small area. It doesn't hold a candle to Mobile or New Orleans, but we'll take it Wink
We marvel at how his brain must be rewiring. We do agree that the human body is amazing and there is still so much to learn

I love Pensacola Parade because they are so family fun and friendly and HUGE!!!

Mobile Mardi Gras is DA BOMB though !!

But Biloxi Mardi Gras kicks some serious butt if you know how to "work" it, and get 2 parade out of 1(or is it 3 parade out of 2?) lol
Dh was there for training one yr on base (lucky him during Mardi Gras, and sucks for me being home with 2 2yr olds, lol) But he came back with mad lootz and all was forgiven .

He took us to mobile and then Biloxi on Same Day so we did like 6 parades in a day

Funny story alert-btw this happened a long long time ago:

At the end of the parade they The Float Owners/Party Goers gave away bags and bags and bags of unopened loot(as well as left behind a bag of something)

So dh loads the loot and bag without inspecting bag, we drive on to the military base to stay the night at lodging. Dh opens the bag and score UNOPENED BEER woot

Then I go and search the pockets and EEK!

Dh turned pale when I opened the pocket , his look was priceless laugh out loud

Then I send Dh to restroom to quickly flush the green stuff in the ziploc bag Wink

Could you imagine telling security police. "Uh that's not my bag, Um I didn't know that was in there, I just picked up the strange bag at the parade and didn't bother to look inside it"

Yeah, sure the would believe that Roll Eyes (Sarcastic).

So anyone with experience with amazon.com - I ordered a pair of Pampili shoes for my daughter, who is going to be a flower girl on Saturday. Got them today, and one of the little rhinestone pendant thingies has fallen off. She has to wear them Saturday because I have no other options but can I return them after that? I got them for $19.xx, and I totally heart them, but they're broken, you know? Is it easy to return to amazon.com, or not so much?

I home schooled both of mine. I had one that excelled and one that struggled more. If you want to vent, talk about materials, carry on, or if I can help in any way, pm me. I am now retired. laugh out loud Mine are 20 & 23. I well remember having days that I watched that yellow school bus and drooled. But I would do it again. I wasn't dealing with the extra stresses of you kid's situations. Do you belong to any hs groups?

My son (23) is just finishing up his Masters Degree (Public Administration) and he is trying to join the military. He has been jumping through hoops for a several months. He had a stroke when he was 8 and this is the hold up. So, after the last round of dr. exams (that he has to pay for), sending in reports, etc. he got the call Tuesday. He has been permanently disqualified from ever entering military service, medically based. He was really disappointed.

He called me yesterday... He had gotten another call from his recruiter, they were reading the old letter. That decision has been overturned and he is now approved to proceed with the enlistment process. So, next hurdle is the physical. (Not at all worried about the written tests).

.
I will save the homescooling story/drama for another day, but thank you for the offer . I don't have anyone to talk to or vent to so its a pain , but am getting thru, as are the kids and with all of the crap going on locally, I continue to think this was the best decision for them

What branch of the military is your son going into?

Knowing what we know now I will always recommend the National Guard over any branch of the military. Same Benefits, less beaurocracy?,less crappy "forced" jobs.

The recruiters will do and say anything to get you in and once you are "in" then you are stuck with that job and that career. Dh was AF for awhile but it was a hard life.

Single men do alright but, getting married young is hard if the guy wants a career or to travel and hard on the gal to be alone most of the time.

With the Guard, Dh has been able to stay at one base, go to school, and choose what jobs he wants and has less hoops to go thru(less politics)

If you have any questions you can pm me and dh is always happy to help.
Dh knows all the rules, regs and is connected to lots of people "in the know" to be able to get truthful and correct info.

It's way easy to return with Amazon. They have decent customer service too though. It's worth a try to call them and explain the issue. They may be willing to express a new pair out overnight for the trouble. Never hurts to ask Wink

OT - Angel Food Ministries http://www.angelfoodministries.com/

I not sure that this is a hot deal, but in my past 2 months experience, its has been good food, and most of the items are things that I can't get good deals on thru coupons (like meat and eggs - I don't have a super target anywhere near by, so I was not able to get on with all the free produce)

There are no qualifications, income requirements or forms to fill out. You can order online and pick up at designated area (usually a church) at a specific time. This month for $41 you get:
4 lb. IQF Chicken Drums & Thighs Combo
2 lb. Chicken Stir Fry Skillet Meal
1.5 lb. Hamburger Patties (4 x 6 oz.)
1.75 lb. Fully-Cooked Breaded Party Wings
1 lb. NY Beef Wieners
20 oz. Steak Fajitas
1 lb. Battered Fish Bites
1 lb. Lean Ground Beef
2 lb. Fully Cooked Lasagna Dinner Entrée
7 oz. Beef Link Sausage
1 lb. Fajita Blend Veggies
1 lb. Green Beans
1 lb. Peas & Carrots
1 lb. Corn
20 oz. Shoe String Fries
1 lb. 16 Bean Soup Mix
1 lb. Rice
7.25 oz. Mac & Cheese
7.5 oz. Corn Muffin Mix
2 lb. Fresh Apples
8 oz. Breakfast Cereal
32 oz. 2% Shelf-Stable Milk
Dozen Eggs
Dessert

There are other menu options and add ons. there are also special thanksgiving and christmas menus. Maybe not the best deal, but like I said, I was pretty impressed. It is restaurant grade quality food.

Wave homeschooler here too!

Flugette - My DH returned something through Amazon a few months ago and it was super easy. It wasn't a cheap item either. It was a HD projector.. Started acting up after a few weeks. He paid the money to ship it back with insurance.. They sent another one in the mean time, and gave him 30 days to return the defective one. Once they got it, they also refunded our shipping costs.

Dreeme - I need lots of things from Target. Let me send you my list Wink

Dreemedayze, How did you lose your nephew Anthony at 10 days. What was the diagnosis.?

Those of you with lost little ones did you find out why?

The worst was that my son was absolutely perfect and there was no cause at that time.

I wouldn't know why for 2 yrs and it ate me inside something fierce.

It wasn't until my twin prenancy was 6 months in and one of the 5 specialist at UCDavis handling my pregnancy had heard about my previous loss, that she did some research into it.

The only explanation was blood clot on placenta leading to suffocation. ugh!!
But that my bloodwork taken afterwards showed no sign of the clotting disorder
So she decided to test my blood right then and there and a few days later we knew that I had protein c deficiency (a.k.a factor x) and my blood clots rapidly during pregnancy, trauma, surgery, or long periods of inactivity.

They told me that with aspirin therapy that I should be able to go to term but at 61/2 weeks would US the placenta daily to check for clotting. I went in on July 6th and all was clear. My twins were born July 8th and dd's placenta was clotted to the point Davids was when he passed away . We swear that ds abruptia saved dd's life. The preemie birth caused their resulting disabilities, but the day I lost David, I held him and told god that whatever he gave me and in whatever condition they were received, I would accept as a blessing and not question and always appreciate any gift of a child I would receive.
Well I got my blessings times 2 and while disabilities and homeschooling are a pain. I would not change it for the world. I appreciate them and truly believe in miracles.

Whats crazy is on Davids headstone we had an etching of boy and girl angel holding a baby.

Dh loved the pararescue motto of "so others may live" and had that put on the headstone.

Dh never knew why that motto meant so much at the time but, had we not lost david and learned Why, things could have been a lot worse for me, or my twins.

We woulda never known about me having such a scary disorder that I have to watch what meds I take and how I take care of myself. Can never have kids but always have hope that a cure or treatment will be found if not for me in the future for all other women who risk loss due to blood clotting
hug My daughter had two knots in the cord, and parts of the Wharton's jelly that makes up the cord were completely dissolved away in places.

Another homeschooling family here and while the disabilities may not be the same (my son has high-functioning autism, dd has Asperger's) I can at least commiserate.

Got a couple hours then I have to be ready to go get my hubby's head examined LMAO.... and his processor programmed. Hmmm, now, do I figure out something for supper for when we get home -- at probably 7 or 8. Or.... do we stop at that tasty little Mexican place half way between here and the dr.'s office. Dr. is over an hour away and I don't go that way too often... how's that for an excuse? Not exactly low carb! On the other hand, not too often your husband gets to start hearing close to normal after being very impaired most of his life. Can I use "celebration" as an excuse? Excuses do not lead to weight loss. I think I need that stenciled on my walls. All of them.
Good luck with your dh's appointment! And also for your son. Is he trying to get commissioned as an Officer? Dh retired 3 years ago after serving 26 years in the Navy, working in the submarine fleet, if I can offer any advice. IMO, Navy and submarines is the way to go. The Navy hands out bonuses and extra pays like Pez. LOL Plus deployments aren't as long or as often. .

Hello everyone, it's me jujuli.
I don't go on this thread (only Target Deals thread) and didn't realize that people have been expressing their sympathies here. It wasn't until I came home yesterday from my Dad's funeral and received a delivery of this beautiful flower arrangement singed, "Your TCC Friends". I would like to personally thank the person(s) responsible for this, so please PM me.

I truly appreciate everyone's comforting messages of condolence. Thank you so much.

The "finality" of a pregnancy. No words except hugs and tears. You didn't give up by choice, but its hard to tell your brains, heart and hormones that its time to let go.
Yup, that's just how it felt. Like my own private hell b/c dh really didn't have the same connection.

Got a wonderful note in my son's bookbag - someone put a $100 credit on his account!!!!! Things are super tight this month, due to me not being able to have as many yard sales as I usually do, and I have no idea who did this, but it was just such a blessing to read, I can't even tell you. Brought me to tears.
That's a nice story heart

I just tell the cashiers that I am worried the q's will stick together and leave it at that. Only place that has ever argued is WM (big surprise).

There are some doctors that definitely make you wonder how in the world they finished medical school. I had two different doctors, two different military hospitals, 5 years apart in timespan, ask me if I was sure that dh was the father of the baby I was carrying (while I was in there because I was miscarrying, idiots). Frown

No pregnancy innocence here either. I had two miscarriages and 3 years of infertility before having my oldest dd. I worried over every.single.little.thing, but how can we not?
My oldest was 8 when I had a miscarriage on Thanksgiving (yep, only one that was on a holiday), and 9 the next year when our daughter was stillborn. I was at a store returning some of the many baby items we had purchased and she started crying. When I asked what was wrong, she asked why babies have to die. Weeping It hurts me just as much that she won't have any pregnancies free of those worries. It's not a legacy I wanted to pass down. Frown

Hugs to the mommas that have lost a child, no matter the age or gestation. hughug I will light my candle tomorrow (October 15th, pregnancy and infant loss awareness day) at 7 pm for all babies that are no longer with us. Oh heck, might as well start now.
