Unfortunately I think as they grow older this actually becomes MORE of an issue ,,,,just ask any man laugh out loud

No such luck mamaLMAO
I'm resigning myself to that but yet trying to be positive. laugh out loud Older ds didn't go through this stage (maybe because of having autism? who knows) but the monkey is all about playing pocket pool. So much so that we have a pet name for it- pants monkey. If it gets too quiet, we can usually finding him in his room, naked, talking to his penis. If he happens to walk down stairs, he'll announce his hUUUge penis. I had to ask other boy moms to find out how normal this is. Embarrassment

And someday, I'll share this info with his significant other. Almost as good as naked butt bathtub pictures.

Seriously Kallison, that is just silly!! I second what Ank said about teaching them the proper terminology for that reason alone if for nothing else. The only argument I could think to make against or with that is that it is probably important that you teach them that there are appropriate and not-so-appropriate times to be using such words....you know, like you wouldn't want them yelling those words down the aisles of Target I suppose Teehee

And as for the VS lady, that is just Crazy and makes no sense whatsoever.
I'm sure that earned me mother of the year award nominee status when same monkey toddler realized that if he screamed that I was hurting his penis, we would get out of the store faster. laugh out loud

Well, all my kids know they have a penis and a vagina. Well, they don't have both each but you know what I mean.

However, my 2 year old calls the entire area her butt, my 6 year old is too embarassed to say anything, my 4 year old calls it her teetee.
My kids know what it is too... but the girls call their stuff their tutu... or their private... my son said my private, my private... lol

ank, the bottle I have right now is 90 oz. I think it was 6.99 at Target?

kallison, I'm a fairly conservative person but I felt it was best that kids learn the correct name for their body parts. People wouldn't use a cutesy nickname for an ear or nose, why should it be any different? Ask the 3 yr old monkey toddler, he'll be happy to tell you that he has a hUUUge, giant penis. Facepalm It's phase, one I hope he quickly grows out of.
LMFAO!! Thanks for the laugh!!

Quote from kallison423 :
Okay, so I'm in a bit of an argument with someone on Twitter right now. Basically, she was saying that certain anatomical parts shouldn't be said by kids because they're "dirty" and basically the same as the kid dropping an f bomb. I say that a body part is a body part and there's nothing to be ashamed of and 'vagina' and 'penis' aren't bad words.

Yes yes, I know, with what I do, of course I'm liberal. But I don't have kids and she does and she says I would think differently if I had kiddos. So you mama's...do you use different words for body parts or are your kids taught to use the correct word? Or does it vary with age?

Just curious.
I think you just teach them the proper names and they nickname it anyways... my dd's call breasts... squishy boobies LMAO

Quote from cathi4savings :
meesheecat....HI ! I saw th pics of your cat, beautiful, I have actually seen these at the zoo.
I woould be afraid of that kitty, I kno how my little 9 lb domestic gets when he's pissed and he's like sid - vicious.

Even though otherwise he's a lap cat LOL
Thanks!! Fully grown she will be about 7lbs... she is gorgeous and we absolutely adore our two. They are an endangered species so we are looking to start a conservation program for them as not many people breed them in capitivity. My kids love that mom is a nut and will bring anything or almost anything home once... lol we had a lemur in our house not too long ago... let me tell you it didn't last long... lmao

Such sad stories. hug Dealing with the loss of someone so special is so hard. In my case it was so early I had just found out and then later that evening it wasn't to be. I hadn't even really had time to adjust to the thoughts of a baby and then it wasn't ment to be.

At least there are guests the cashiers hate more than coupon ladies. Reusable bag ladies. Teehee

Sadbye We are leaving again. I am not going to be able to shop or post for 8 to 14 days. Well, IF we get cell service I 'might' be able to read/post some mobil. I wish I could squeeze in few more trips, I really do need a few more rugs. Do your stores have the boot trays? I got one and REALLY want three more! They are only $4.xx and I want one for outside the front door and on the inside. Also outside and inside by the back door. It is so wet, salty, and gross with all the snow and mush tracked inside, you really NEED good winter trays and rugs, especially since we have hardwood floors.

hug I will miss you all and miss Target. hug
HUGS!! I hope you have a safe trip and try to stay in touch with us...cause we will miss you... hughug

?? I think "boobs" is worse. It's coarse and vulgar sounding to me.

dreeme, I am so sorry for your loss. i can't even begin to comprehend how much that must have hurt all of you. hug

agreed.

what's offensive about the term breasts anyways? that's what they are. and they're part of our bodies.
i have no patience for people who consider parts of the body dirty. it's these kind of people that teach women that they can't be sexual beings and still be good, honorable people; or that they can't look at their whole bodies in all its glory, with curves and nooks and bumps and valleys and all as beautiful feats of nature. argument lady clearly has an issue, kallison.

speaking of admiring one's body - like many of you here, i have my share of body image issues and have had them for all my life courtesy of being told stuff as a child. several years ago, my then boyfriend was the first one to really make me feel sexy and beautiful and make me appreciate how I look. it had a huge impact on my life - my confidence, my career, how I dress, how I relate to people everywhere. anyhow, since then I've gotten much better but I still fight body image issues and lately have been hating how I look (long story).

but then this weekend, another big image-changing moment happened. i was leafing through the latest issue of espn magazine. it's their body issue and features pictures of male and female athletes fully nude (with strategic parts, including said breasts, covered) in different action/athletic/strength shots. it is fascinating and beautiful and each picture is a stunning testament to the amazing abilities of our bodies. there are short women, women with bulging bellies, skinny women, muscular women, curvy women and similar assortment of men. what's common in all of them is that they are strong, versatile, passionate. i was in awe. and it made me smile. and appreciate my body for all it endures everyday, for all it is and can be and can do. and most of all, it helped me appreciate that there is no such thing as a perfect body. there's only such a thing as a unique body. no body else can have exactly my body shape, no matter how hard they try. and so i shouldn't waste time trying to have someone else's shape. i'm beautiful just for being me.

and so are each of you, just for being you.

so love yourselves. and take care of your bodies - in what you eat, what you do, how you live. because i have learned the hard way that nobody will love you more, or with as much devotion, as your own body.

ok, sorry about that ruminating lecture. but speaking of small bodies laugh out loud T has some great, great, great kids (infant/toddlers section) clothes on clearance. i posted a brief note on it in dealz but wanted to post here, too for anyone that needs to get em. and the selection is vastly different across stores in that stuff that is still regular priced at one store has already gone on clearance at another. so if you don't find stuff in one, and have more Ts in your area, shop around.
i found denim jackets, rain jacket, boys argyle and striped cotton long sleeve sweaters, boys long sleeve faux layer tees and polos, boys long and short sleeve plaid shirts, jeans, khakis, carpenter pants, soft woven cotton shorts, hoodies. as in you could have several complete outfits for a small boy.
for girls i found dress legging sets, short and long sleeve t-shirts with prints and/or ruffles, soft cotton shorts, night clothes, denim jackets, jeans, hoodies, cardigans, dresses, and even corduroy pants with ruffles and polka dot trim. so again could outfit a girl for this fall transition.
everything was in the 2 - 6.xx range.

good night all.

laugh out loud I often wonder how people that find "breast" offensive shop for bras, or even chicken.

hug right back at you sweetie!

there's tons and tons and tons of stuff in toddler sizes. much more than in the 6m - 18m sizes. i was looking for a friend's rapidly growing 4.5 month old and that was a little challenging but even then i managed to find plenty. and reach helps. as would toweling. Big Grin

Getgreen, beautifully said. I'm saving that to re-read when I get down about my body. Do you know the brand Lush? I was flipping through their catalog earlier and I love how many body types and personalities they show-it's so great to see.

And those pancakes are so cool! I have no artistic not baking talent. No one gets a pancake from me unless it's coming from the freezer laugh out loud
