I've decided I'd rather deal with Target's register stupidity than the jackasses at Walmart. Seriously, must I argue every time I have a coupon? Apparently when a coupon says "or", that means you have to buy the most expensive and "customers are never allowed to call corporate" to complain.

My WM is good right now. Got overage on the Bic $2 coupons today. The 2 pack is $.97.

Next time, who knows. You never know with WM.

Lucky you! This is a nasty virus it hijacks your computer and completely disables all anti virus software, won't allow you to download any anti virus software and you can't get rid of the thing. It keeps popping up telling you your computer is infected (duh) and to get rid of it you have to pay 79.95. By the time I had spent several hours trying to fix it I was almost ready to give the farkers the money to get my computer back. I finally had to start in safe mode so I could get online and find a program that would delete it. Avast wouldn't, Malwarebytes wouldn't and finally HitmanPro did the trick. I just wish I had known about it before it consumed by netbook

With all the talk of food and drink, thought I'd post this recipe in advance of Halloween. [I don't drink vodka, but it sounds good!]

Dracula's Kiss creates two layers: the bottom is red with grenadine and the top is black with cola. Add spiders to the drink or hang them on the glass for a ghoulish finishing touch.

Ingredients:
•1 oz black cherry vodka
•1/2 oz grenadine
•cola
•maraschino cherries for garnish

Preparation:
1.Coat the bottom of a highball glass with grenadine.
2.Add ice and vodka.
3.Fill with cola.
4.Garnish with cherries.

Heading out camping. Managed to go by T and pick up some pizzas, ice cream, & baby food. I'm noting down all of the recipes for our Thanksgiving. I'm the one who does all of the holiday cooking.

No, I bought the $269 Acer that Target has since like you, it's paid in gift cards. I'm a little peeved because we bought two of the Acer netbooks that were $199 in August, I wanted to get a third and dh said no. Now, this one was $70 more *and* has only half the battery life. 3 cell battery vs. 6 cell battery that was in the other one. I wanted the HP that's on TPC but only one store in the area had it so I just picked up the one where I was at. The Acer is even low in stock in my area.

I admit it, I just didn't feel like fighting BF crowds for a possibly better deal.

oh dreeme, you asked about the ipod... so here's my take:

i have an ipod shuffle and an ipod nano.

the shuffle first:
it is very practical and easy. it is small, has no lcd screen, just play, pause, fast forward and rewind buttons. mine is from a few years ago and only allowed you to put all the songs in sequentially. but really not a big deal for on the run listening to music. i have it in my purse/clutch all the time. just fish it out to listen while grocery shopping, while excercising, waiting at the doc's office. anywhere and everywhere. it is light, it is easy. it clips onto your shirt or pocket or whatever. at 1gb mine takes up to 250 songs depending on size and quality. plenty of variety.

the newest model of the ipod shuffle is a great thing made even more special in that it has 2gb capacity, allows for playlists, has a voice over function where the ipod announces the song name, artist name and playlist to you should you so choose (as an alternative to seeing it on an lcd screen), and it has a genius mix function where depending on the songs you pick to listen to, the ipod realizes what you are in the mood for and makes you a custom mix playlist. very nice.

and you can even get small hard shell speck (that's the company) zipper cases for them that holds the ipod and the headphones safe. child can just keep that case in backpack or hoodie or whatever.
best of all they're 49 bucks on the apple site. but you can get em cheaper from apple dealers/resellers and also you can get em cheaper from ebay. i got mine on ebay from a very reputable seller and had no problems.

ok, now the nano:
i love the nano because i really wanted playlists (my shuffle, as i mentioned is older and doesn't have playlists), wanted to have video playback, wanted to store more music in a portable device, wanted radio. the 5th generation (previous generation) ipod nano has all that plus a camera. the newest model -- 6th generation -- has no video playback, no camera, is smaller, and has a touch screen instead of the push buttons for fast forward/rwnd/play etc. i like the buttons. i like the option of playing videos and taking videos, too. so i actually prefer the 5th gen over the 6th gen.

at any rate, both 5th gen and 6th gen come in 8gb and 16gb versions. the 5th gen does not clip on. it is handheld or needs a case with a clip on it. the 6th gen has a clip on the back just like the shuffle.
the 5th gen is of course cheaper now that the 6th gen is out. again, you can get em cheaper through amazon/apple authorized sellers/ebay.

ipod touch:
for those of you interested in this model, around this time in the fall, apple runs a promo where when you buy a laptop as an educator/student, you can get the ipod touch for free after rebate. result: a lot of people put their brand new touches on ebay to basically bring down the price of their laptop. so you can get some great deals on them.
the ipod touch is great, in that it is fun, it is super versatile - surf the net, have gps, email, a gazillion trillion apps for everything you can think of, take pictures, and listen to music. essentially everything the iphone can do, except calls.
the downside for me? too big. it is super slim, which is nice, but it really isn't convenient to hold etc when excercising or using on the fly. it's 2010 and i don't want a walkman-sized player (height wise), although the touch is oh about 1/200th the thickness of a walkman.
a friend of mine got himself a touch. loves, loves, loves it.
friends of mine gave their 7year old daughter their old iphone, with phone service disabled. so essentially a touch. she loves it, and emails on it. but, i will say that being the oldest of now 4 kids she is very, very mature. and has a generally gentle, careful, thoughtful personality.


so, all this being said, i would say the shuffle is the most appropriate for a young child. it clips on easily. you don't have to look at a screen constantly to fast forward, rewind, play etc. you don't have to worry about shattering an lcd screen. and it is comparatively expensive, so that allows a young child to get used to the interface without worrying about it getting damaged.

I need some honest female opinions. I am planning on upgrading my wife's wedding ring for Christmas.

This involves a new diamond, settings, the whole deal. I got a price for her existing set. What is the rule of thumb in regards to spending on this type of item? I know that the 2 months salary rule is common for engagement rings. Are there any guidelines for upgrades? Thanks in advance.

So this ebay seller delayed in shipping me some coupons and I didn't get them until after the sale and after the coupon expired. To compensate, the seller sent me a HUGE priority envelope full of coupons, some of them really good, but they were ALL EXPIRED too! Should I just let it go? :an noyed:

What is your phone? I use to have a Data phone but don't now. Just a plain old phone. I do miss Internet access though. I am on Verizon, previously Alltel. Use to have a cheap unlimited Data plan but Verizon changed all that. Sucks.

That is one of the reasons we get the TGC, so that we can get the things we need and when we have the opportunity.

Teri, I hope you will be able to fix your computer. Our desktop have been out for almost 6 months now. It can't be cleaned with a nasty virus as well and will have to be reformatted. DH says its a lot of work etc. (can't really understand, really clueless on techie stuff) so we now share the laptop.

I told him that we should get a Mac but that will take a while, no extra cash these days.

I have the HTC Evo Android phone, with Sprint. LOVE it. And I do use a lot of data.


Exactly but yet I still feel a little cheated out of the battery, for a higher cost.

tots, welcome back. Our desk top is toast too. I actually started smoking! Just a tiny bit, I smelled melting plastic and saw a faint curl of oilish looking smoke curl near the hard drive tower thing. Turned it off and apparently it is toast, some data and pics are still on that DH friend thinks a data recovery service could save. The last 6 yrs of pics he said some not all could be saved.
