I hug you know the answer, you have to take care of yourself first. It's really, really hard to do that as mom though, no matter what your age or the age of your kids.

I would luv to put myself first but wouldnt even know where to begin Embarrassment

You know if I could do things over, when and how many kids I have isn't what I would change either. Other decisions I made, well those I would change. But my kids are irreplaceable.

And I'm going to Shutup because I stuck my foot in my mouth here. Sorry ladies for the Oops
no need to feel like you said something you shouldnt have, I dont think anyone here was offended at all, I know I wasntwave

I've always been an insomniac as well. Right now, I'm waiting for the last load of laundry to finish in the washer, I'll hang some, put the rest in the dryer and then I can head to bed.

Thanks. hug I didn't mean I was going away. Won't get rid of me that easily. laugh out loud

And that sleep schedule sucks. You need to find out why you can't sleep. hug For many years, my now 8 year old only slept from 5 am to 8 am, then from 9 am to noon. From the time he was 2.5 until about age 5 is a large blur of sleepless nights. By the time he fell asleep, dh was snoring like crazy so I couldn't get to sleep so I usually was able to nap between when dh left for work and 8 am, when the girls got up to get ready for school.
Oh no thats not what I meant lol ... just say whatever you feel and trust me nobody will get offended... trust me, I vent out in TCC more than anywhere...I don't have many "real life" friends that understand as most of them do not have kids Frown

stressed much?

stress and sleeep share a vicious cycle. stress makes it harder to sleep because the stress hormones interfere with your sleep hormones. lack of stress makes one more inept at handling stress (hence the irritability etc when one is tired) which causes more stress, which brings less sleep and so forth.

so, you have to cut the cycle. get a bottle of melatonin from the drugstore. a few of my friends swear by it. it's a natural sleep chemical released by the body to bring about sleep. so taking the bottled one aids in falling off to sleep faster. they say there's no exhausted hang over like sleeping pills. no restlessness. it's just a relaxing gently slide into sleepiness. i've never tried it because it's contraindicated for migraine sufferers, but those who take it love it.
Yeah stress has been alittle crazy lately.. sometimes reality of life sets in and sends you for a whirlwind..so I am always stressing about all little aspects of things that shouldn't really stress me out, you know.. lol

I thought the same thing (I'm 25)- I guess I just mentally pictured everyone as late 20s to mid 30s? I can't imagine having kids or being married right now.

But, you know, I hate people cause I'm a meanie and all that : P
Wait did I admitt my age? I mean I just turned 25 this Sept. Wink and I will again next year too.... sssshhhhsss
Quote from love2beeamom :
Okay.. All of us September babies.. I remember now, setsail.. you and I turned 25 on the same day: )

And yes on the pampers deal.. I almost forgot. That was my first big deal. I have sold so many wipes at yard sales. I used to wonder too why we had to get so many wipes in relation to diapers with that deal. I remember the target 5.00 off coupon working along with the target gc coupon! those were great days!!
Wink lol! Yeah, that was awesome! And they never ran the promo like that again. Wasn't the Pantene right after that or before? That was another they never ran the same way again, to easy to make $$! That was my other huge deal that year.

Quote from ank220 :
I remember reading about a pampers deal (not in the T thread), and I couldn't figure it out so I never did it. I could :sla p: myself for that! (I don't know if it's the same one - it would've been almost 3 years ago now) But... live and learn.
Yes, that was it. Live and learn is right, I didn't even do the Luvs deal that was right before the pampers, and it was almost as good.

Quote from cathi4savings :

Congratulations, that was a nice haul
:wor ship:
Yes that Pampers deal was spectacular! From what I remember it lasted a month, otherwise no way I could have shopped that hard. I had a massive envelope of receipts that I was adding up and when I ask DH how much $$ in diaper and he said 2k, only off by 3. We had a huge wall of the basement stacked with diapers in all kinds of sizes.

I remember that now! September is a great birthday month. Big Grin And wow do I miss those coupon days. The Lego coupon.... lol

hug Our wedding was 2 weeks before my 21st birthday. I never imagined I would get married and move 3000 miles from my family but it's funny how life works out. Our oldest was born when I was 25. I do understand what you are saying, I feel the same way when I see people that are in their mid 20s, have 3 or 4 kids and want more right away. Good golly there is so much life to be lived in your 20s, make the most of it, not just having kids (no offense to anyone, I love my kids dearly but I believe women should learn to be their own person before taking on wife and mother roles, not that it can always be planned but some of it can)
Yeah it is!
Oh how I miss the old toy coupons! Polly Pocket and Playdough too, and the old Hasboro $5.
I do know what you mean. I was a different person at 18 than I was at 25 and even now. I've been a wife and mom for so long I have a hard time remembering what it was like and who I was before.
Quote from meeshecat :
OMG I am not too much older than you.. and many times I wonder what it would be like w/o being mom and a wife and I really don't remember too much of my past life lol

I was a very wild teen that was DRAMA, now I hate drama... and hate people looking at me now b4 I had to be the center of attention.. I was the true cheerleader LOL HUGS!!
I wasn't a wild teen or anything but I don't remember much of my past life either. It was all so long ago and mommyness and wifeyness emcompasses and engulfs all and everything and everypart of me.

Awww sweetie!!! No worries...I will tell you I am not even 30 yet.. been married for 9 years... and have 8 kids.. life is all what you make of it.. I have days where I feel like a horrible mom b/c I go to school, even tho I only attend physical class once a week, I still have MASSIVE amounts of homework to which negates the amount of time I get to spend with the kids, plus I do everything I can to ensure my kids have everything that they need or want.. but when it comes up to me.. I barely take care of myself Frown I don't have the time to do everything I used to do for myself, but its OK!! We are all different but with each differences we tend to appreciate each other for our differences and then the ways we are alike... love ya!!
You are one insanely busy woman my dear! 4 in diapers, I can not even imagine that! Your badge should say super mom. And you need some vacation time for sure! hug

And can I just : a little bit? I had a yard sale this morning, and am SO excited!!!! I made $500!!!! That's a record for me. It also means I have to get shopping because I have 2 more flea markets this month and my inventory was significantly depleted today. I still have enough, but need more variety.
Congrats! What a great sale! I should have had one today. But DH is gone so I didn't.

My dad swears by valerian root. I buy melatonin for the kids. Once I go to bed, I rarely have problems falling asleep. My 11 yr old and 8 yr old have sleep issues, and someone recommended melatonin to me when my son was really young (for the sleep issues he showed as a toddler) but I was too scared to try it. A few years later, I gave in (after asking our doctor, just in case) and I kick myself for not trying it sooner. For the kids, they have no side effects the next day, the hangover type feeling that Ambien and prescription meds often cause.

My daughter once described it as the wheels in her head keep turning and won't stop so she can sleep. With the melatonin, she can block that. We all sleep much better since they sleep better.

I swear I need to motivate my arse to do some kind of sale but the neighborhood sucks around here for that kinda stuff Frown I am going to call "hoarders" and commit my basement to them LMFAO!!

Damn Hulu got me hooked on this stupid 'Fact of Faked' show. They take these paranormal cases and basically try to debunk them- I have no idea why it's so interesting, but it is.

I should be listing furniture on Craigslist, but no one will buy it anyways. People aren't looking for pricier antiques right now, especially out here.

you guys, in all seriousness, if you're not lifelong insomniacs, then you should make getting sleep a priority.

for one thing, it will speed up the positive results of your diet(s).
there are numerous studies out now that show the enormous impacts of a lack of a sleep. ONLY GETTING 5-6 hours of sleep vs the required and recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep EVERY NIGHT regularly results in

1. being overweight and gaining weight
2. having a much higher risk of getting diabetes
3. having much greater risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke
4. weakened immune system
5. smaller life span
6. hormonal imbalance, including thyroid and reproductive issues
7. greater risk of certain cancers

and trying to make it up on weekends does not count. it has to be every night, because that's when the body repairs, rebuilds itself and replenishes its hormonal stock. just a 2-3 hour shortage per night can put you in line for so many health issues!

and if you are lifelong insomniacs you should get to a sleep physician and figure out the reason. ok, so i know this sounds like the pot calling the kettle black, but I did get medical attention. But I was born with insomnia (yep, my poor parents!) and so the way my body handles the effects is entirely different. and there is no remedy for my kind of insomnia. but there are remedial interventions for most people.

I wasn't a wild teen, or wild college party girl. My brother always told me I was old before my time. I do remember some of my pre-marriage and kids life. My mom wasn't a very good role model, not like mlj's mom where there were health concerns, my mom didn't give a damn so I took over the mom role when I was a teen. There were so many times that I was the only person in my house working a job. Parents were divorced, dad lived in another state with his new family and didn't care what happened to us so eh. To this day I still play the mom role to my mother and my siblings. My younger sister gripes about not having a mom but geez, how does she think I feel?

Anyway, I especially remember the years between getting married and having kids. Dh was at sea for brief periods so I spent a lot of time alone, sometimes working two jobs to pass the time faster. It was a very lonely time that I don't want to repeat. And that's how my kids became my life. woot

And yeah, I don't feel any different than 25. Just maybe a little bit slower sometimes.

And I would love to meet up with all of you as well. I've found better friends via online than any one I'm met in person, heck even some of my family. Family calls when they want something or need something.
I absolutely agree. I know how empty and quiet my life would be without kids. They do keep us hopping but wouldn't trade them for the world. Though some quiet time during the day would be lovely sometimes. laugh out loud
