hey by the way, for anyone still working on their SS deals, staples has a q for $5 off any ups shipping. not sure if it would work out cheaper ups ground or usps, guess depends on what you're shipping, but just thought i'd mention it. i should have my SS all done by this weekend. Big Grin

hello chatterboxes. this twatwaffle has been out of commission for the past couple of days, swamped with life and aches. but here i am... ready to twattle.

JMS = ? Confused
just my size?
just more s**t ?
join me shopping?
japanese man surfing?
don't get my imagination going. it's like dancing with a jaunty male stripper. EEK!

i'm really behind in my reading... and writing.... so i'm glad you mentioned this.
i think the people in deals are onto something, unfortunately.
was at T day before yesterday. went to a seeming jedi, young guy.
used a q for what i don't remember, then next one was the olay/secret q. he looked and paused and hesitated. i had a large order with 50-70 things in it. he scrolled up. called manager. i said i bought both things. she was in hurry, so she said if customer got both things then yes put q through. he tried asking a few times, but but but can she use the q if it is worth ... i cut him off each time. Coverlaugh
manager said, i told you if she bought both then yes she is fine. if anyone tells you anything, blame it on me. she walked away. Big Grin
he quietly put them through and said i'm sorry i wanted to check because last time i did this i got into trouble. i casually asked why. he said, i don't because i guess people are doing fraud or something like that, i don't know... his voice trailed off.
i didn't clarify further.

then yesterday i stopped by a different, closer by T to do a missed coupon on a c9 pant using a c9 hangtag. i had forgotten to take the hangtags with me when i bought the pant, and it was a 19.99 pant. CS girl said it is more than 2 days so system won't let you do it. she insisted it wouldn't. i urged her to try it and she said T has gotten really strict with coupons lately and this knew rule just came about a few days ago, because people were doing fraudulent stuff with qs. then she looked and said oh this is a TQ, not an mq so maybe it will work. i urged her again to try and sure enough the system took the q!

she gave me my money back and said "you know i don't know why T is so difficult with qs. it's stupid. other stores just take em. i used q's too, and i find it very annoying how it happens at T. i just work here, so I don't care, i'm not taking their side. i've stopped shopping with qs here myself." EEK!

could just be coincidences, but having heard change of policy/new strictness refrains from two seemingly laidback and pleasant young people at two different Ts, it made my radar go up and made me think something unpleasant is brewing at the corp level.

love, your friendly neighborhood booby twatwaffle.
Interesting. I will definitely be keeping my eyes and ears open. The cashier tonight had been well-trained, despite it being only her second or third day on the job. She knew the rule about one MFQ and one TQ per item, went checking through my pile to make sure I wasn't going over that limit. She also knew to K1 all the beepers, didn't even check my bags to make sure I had the item. Honestly, she scanned just like all the cashiers have been lately around here - as though they were told to just accept whatever coupons were given, no questions asked. Weird, I know, but since right before Black Friday, I have not been questioned on a single coupon, despite using quite a few of the pajama TQs, etc.

My point being that they are receiving communication regarding coupons, and at this point, it seems the appropriate attitude is being taught. However, I'm sure that $5 Olay coupon raised eyebrows at the corporate level, and perhaps the word was sent down to look out for that one specifically. I personally used up all mine about a week or more ago, so I haven't had any to use.

Quote from kallison423 :
I wish I had the energy to get to Sbux today- their espresso Christmas blend is fantastic. I actually put my Keurig to the side to brew this all week yummy

Since no other deals were applicable, do you know if you were still getting the free tall drink wyb a pound? I'm assuming they'll have another coffee promo, just curious how it'll work.
I saw the Christmas espresso, but since they were gifts, I wasn't sure I should get that.

From what people were saying in hot deals, the drink came off without a hitch once the card was scanned. I don't have a registered Starbucks gift card, so I didn't even try it. I think what the baristas were saying is that you can't key in more than one discount per order. The free bag of coffee came off by pushing a key, and then the MFQ was supposed to be keyed in, as well. But it voided off the BOGO, so it was pointless.

And of course, after I get home, I read in the Giant thread that Starbucks coffee was on sale for $5 this week, minus the 2-day expired 1.50 coupon, comes out to dang cheap quality coffee... But actually, now that I think about it, those bags are probably the smaller ones, anyway, so in the end, I think I came out ok.

These cakes are taking forever to bake. I just wanna go to bed!!!

And getgreen, I forgot to say - JMS is "just my size". Refers to the coding on the coupon for BOGO. Back in the good ol' days, those coupons were MONEY at Target. Not so much anymore... Sadwalk

I wonder how much of the rumors are from store management preferences and not from corporate policy? The cashier I had tonight was questioning the sleepwear TQ, even scrolled up to look at the items (after I offered to pull them out so she could see I did have the required number). Didn't help that the Suave TQ is a beeper and I didn't realize that going in. Embarrassment

I asked about missed and this store (not my fave store anyway) first told me it was only one coupon per item. *sigh* So there is still a lot of incorrect information out there at the store level.

Nah, not going to have anyone send me anything- too expensive.

Yes, making progress. Sucks that the first amount of money I've made since March-ish had to go for a U-haul, though. So now as long as I don't lose my mind again, it should be smooth sailing.

I'm exceptionally picky about coffee- gotta get whole bean and grind it myself every morning. I very rarely see any whole bean at grocery stores around here Frown

but on the bright side, here's the good news: you could help your parents/family. that's always a good feeling. and plus, once you were wondering how you would do moving with card maxed and credit limit reduced and all that. but providence has a way of taking care of us in tough times.

hug thanks for always being so positive.

I'm not a religious person, but I can't help but think it was a bit of a miracle that the funds for the move came when they did. I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

no religion needed. that's why i used providence.
i'm a person of faith, but i also believe that no matter whether you pray at all or not, there is a larger universal force taking care of us. and when we put the need for help out loud (i wish i had money for a move right now. don't know how i'll get a truck, is an example) help makes its way to us.

if you've ever watched the oprah show, she talks about this a lot. that when we actually put our wishes and needs into words, we set wheels in motion to attract the solution/gift/desire into our lives.

it's been written about a lot in The Secret (which i have not read, but tell myself often that someday i will. i tend to be cynical/skeptical about self-help books, but this one I know I should read. just have to overcome my inner resistance)

it has also been written about a lot in Write It Down, Make It Happen - a book I have read and swear by and refer to often in my life because I have seen the results and they are jaw-dropping.

sending lots of positive energy and luck your way. I am rooting for you! hug

I'm incredible cynical about just about everything- not just self help books Stick Out Tongue But I'm a bit intrigued by the second book, but I don't have many goals in my life. Unless you included being less miserable and cynical Wink

write it down make it happen doesn't really need one to have big life goals like oh i want to be president and eradicate malaria and become the top surgeon in the northern hemisphere. Stick Out Tongue

it's about just about everything you want to get done/wish to do/enjoy doing etc.

so for example, the book has an example about the author wanting to watch more opera and wanting to travel around europe but not getting around to either, and how she wrote about it and then things started falling into place in the strangest way. now i'll tell you, when i read the book i kept saying yeah right. but knowing that if we don't give things a chance, then well they'll never be, after reading i figured i'd give it a chance, and lo and behold for 2 years in a row i would write things for 2-3 months out, and then i'd look back 3 months later and all those things had happened!!! and so i kept going and going and going and that stretch of several years changed my life. i have fallen off that wagon, need to get back on.

but my point is, it can be anything: losing a weight, finding a mate/boyfriend/girlfriend, making friends, socializing more, having a steady income, finding a different job, improving some health aspect. whatever.

read the book and you'll see what i mean. and suspend disbelief when you do. or attempt to anyways. resistance/cynicism is just fear of being disappointed.

Ham!!! Big Grin

It will just be our little family on Christmas this year, which I am happy and sad about. That means we get to do our own thing, have our own traditions, not be tied in with anyone else, but it also means the loud, bustling celebration that we normally have will be much quieter. It also means I get to cook the dinner all by myself! I definitely think I will do a ham, because I love ham, far more than turkey. However, one year my sister did a seafood feast, and I think that might be nice, too. Probably will depend on money, in the end! Although, hams can be just as expensive as seafood!!
Don't waste your $$$ or even free $$ on an Archer Farms ham, my family said it was just no good this Thanksgving

I have read The Secret and I would not consider it a 'self-help' book. It is essentially about the law of attraction. I watched a movie on a similar subject about quantum physics called What the ^#%$ Do We Know. HERE [amazon.com]

Oh, I'm sure managers are to blame for 90% of the coupon issues, for sure. The majority of them have NO CLUE about coupons and the benefit they bring to their store, nor are they aware that their own website offers printable coupons. shake head I will never forget a conversation I had with the General Manager of a store who accused me of fraud because I was using the Target IPs. He had no idea in the world that you could print coupons off their website. And this was only 2 years ago, when their coupons had been around for a very long time. How can you be paid big bucks to manage a store and not be aware of things like that??

That's true, and do they even sell the Christmas blend in grocery stores?

I'm not a religious person in the traditional sense of the word, but I do believe in a loving God who hears and answers prayers. nod Even when they're not necessarily voiced as such, I believe He hears. I have been praying for about a week that something would work out with our finances because working deals to get gift cards is wearing me to the bone. Various doors have been shut here and there and I just couldn't see where relief would come, in a way that wouldn't disrupt our family life too much. Well, last night, hubby got an email from the company he worked part-time for earlier this year (they restructured their schedule, needed fewer employees and he got axed) and they need part-time guys again!! Completely out of the blue, and yet will totally meet our needs in every way, from a direction that I never even thought of. For me, that is God's answer to our dilemma, and one that I would never have dreamed up myself.

G'morning my friendly TCC meanies...

DH has been nominated for the highest award in is company - it's a national award! I'm so excited and proud of him. The recommendation was so wonderfully written and so nice. Almost made me cry and I'm half tempted to get it printed on nice parchment and frame it for him. Also, this week, his supervisor said he was extremely impressed with DH. The last 2 mos. of the year are really important and they have to push hard to bring in/close as much business as possible. Because of that, DH has taken a very active role in chasing down accounts instead of "managing" or coaching his team. In spite of that, his team pulled all their numbers and then some. His supervisor said it's a testament to his leadership ability to be able to pull such a thing off (as in not be as active at the supervisory part, yet still have your team perform at top levels.) We are hoping this may translate into some consideration for higher positions/wages. Pray DH is finally being recognized for his hard work! I'm so proud of him. heart

This is so strange because something very similar happened to me yesterday. I was feeling down and sad while looking @ job listings thinking I won't find anything fulltime and thinking I needed a change/an answer. I decided I really need to go back to school. I went to look to see when my "priority" for registering classes at the community college was and it was yesterday morning!!! I got all the classes I wanted. Then a little while later one of my old coworkers sent me a message saying her work was hiring fulltime and I should go apply. Pray it all works out! For you and me!
