PS - Any of you bakers out there ... I want to make a Buche de Noel for my Dad who has been so sick ... normally made with Grand Marnier ... however he is not allowed any alcohol or caffeine ... have any of you made one or have an idea how I can replicate that flavor without the alcohol? THANKS LOL I ask the weirdest things I know - but y'all know an amazing amount!
Feeling kind of up and down still. Better though - at least the sore throat is gone!

Try unsweetened orange juice concentrate. It won't be quite the same without the alochol punch/taste, but it should be close.

ETA - you could also grate some orange peel up to use.

The babe has already been to Target 3 times Teehee once when we were released from the hospital, once a few days after that and once last weekend when we went out on our own for the first time. Thank the Lord I had my husband or one of my older daughters with me a few times and didn't have to take her in those times, too. People balk at babies that little being out "in the weather". laugh out loud

Got to go out alone on black Friday - that was nice for a change but my boobs hurt by the time I finally made it home.

Missed you all Blowkiss
I totally get you, Boobs ruined my BF last year Teehee I am currently weaning #5. Out of 5 kids this is the first one I had to wean. But she ruined me....she gave up on my right side about 5 months ago and only would nurse on the left, so I currently have one C cup and one -A cup. It looks super stoopit!

flug, awesome on the cake! You did a fantastic job. Smilie I secretly want to do some fondant cakes but I am so damn impatient and procrastinate like nobody's business.

rachael, heeeey! Nice to see you! How's the baby doing? How are you feeling?

Speaking of baby news.. I'm losing the baby. Had some major bleeding that sent me to the ER since I have a history of hemmorhaging. Sono not good. The sac has collapsed and moved down to my cervix. My HCG went from the 3800's down to 1700 so that's good. I guess. I've been half expecting this to happen so really I don't feel happy or sad, angry or upset. More like numb.
:hugs: I hate this for you. :hugs:
Quote from dreemedayze :
thank you. Means a lot to hear that.

It has been one hell of a month. I had a cold, then got pregnant, was in limbo on whether or not the baby would make it, had a UTI that turned into a kidney infection, also had a kidney stone, spent about 4,000 dollars on lab tests and sonograms, and now I have a fever blister, cramps, and a headache.

If it weren't for my medication I'd probably be an alcoholic at this point.
What meds? They seem superb! I might need some.

Course, that doesn't get you one ... are you looking for something specific in a specific $$ because I think there were a ton of them at our local TRU. Maybe I could get one and mail it to you?
I already have the aqua blue on that sings For he's a jolly good fellow, the Mint Green one (sings It's raining it is pouring) , I have the 2 new ones the Midnight Blue (Sings Skinnamarink) & White (sings: sing sing sing) I really only want the Santa one that sings Jingle bells. It is $14.99 + $4.82 s/h. I should probibly just order it but hate to pay s/h. S/H is free w/ $100, can I buy $100 then return it all for my $$$ back - like Kohls does?

Speaking of Kohl's, I've been lurking in the Kohl's thread tonight to see if I can find deals for my KC.....well, there's currently a little spat going (someone's been "stealing" deals and posting them in HD) and then someone brought up previous T thread spats, and then someone else throws in "Target has a underground group for coupons now Kohls..shake head I miss the good old days"..... oh my....guess holiday shopping makes everyone a little uptight.

Speaking of being uptight, what's everyone drinking tonight? I'm switching it up with Sam Adam's Light, instead of my usual vodka and juicy juice
forgot to buy my farking schnapps again yesterday Annoyed
and as far as the Kohlies, WTF? I like how they think everyone has all the time in the world to wade through the crap that's posted to find the deals hidden within the thread Facepalm The spats are ridiculous and I HATE when the "underground" group talks start up. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

The fondant was fairly easy, at least easier than I was expecting it to be. I used a marshmallow fondant recipe that I found online. The hardest parts were kneading the color into it (took about 15-20 mins of kneading to get an even shade throughout) and then rolling it out. It kept sticking to the table, despite copious amounts of cornstarch coating my table. But other than that, it was fun. If you go to coolest-birthday-cakes.com, and search for princess cakes, they have tons of pictures, and many of them give pointers on what worked for them. Very helpful to me. I let my daughter look through all the pictures, and she settled most definitively on Cinderella. So I just basically tried to replicate the one she loved. nod:
that cake is awesomeness!!!!! my dd would love it. You did a wonderful job. I have a feeling if I tried it, it would end up as a submission for cakewrecks Blush3

So ... party went great tonight. Just family, no friends, but that's enough people, anyway. nod Chuck E Cheese was insane. We've been on a Sat night before, but I've never seen it this crazy. No big deal, I don't mind the noise/crowds, as long as the kids are having fun.

I'm attaching a picture of the cake I made. I thought it turned out well, despite me having zero experience doing anything like this. I so heart the interwebz, that give such detailed instructions, even a turtle could do this!!
You did a great job on the cake!!!

it's beautiful! i'm sure dd was so excited and happy!

hmmm, i could see making princess/barbie cakes as a really decent side job. i've never seen anything like that b4 in my area. bday cakes are so expensive anyway, i'm sure you could charge a very decent price.

along w/ ank's savory cheesecakes. i've never heard of savory ones b4 either!

what is it about that thread that they are fighting about the same thing that got them shut down 3 yrs ago and have special rules made up just for them???

talking about hot deals forum, i should have posted my 32gb ipod touch deal as a separate thread last wk. this guy posted many hrs after me and got 5 thumbs up. the only thing i didn't factor in was the redcard discount b/c i don't have one and i know somebody would have posted that in the thread. i never authored a thread b4.

I have a pink one that sings a-tisket-a-tasket, at least I think it does. Is there a place to see which ones are available and which songs they sing? I have a hard time telling what they are singing, maybe its because I can't get the right rhythm. It's gotta be so funny watching me try them out at the store. yeah- I'm that bad!!! laugh out loud

Hi Rach! I was actually thinking about you yesterday! Glad to see you posting. Taking the baby out of the house is sometimes the only way to stay sane. My DS was born in November in Michigan...and he braved the cold weather A LOT. Big Grin

Tootsie: There is also a Starbucks GC deal this week. Buy 3 bags at $6.99 get $5 GC.

Jamie: So sorry for you. Gosh, it has been wild ride this month for you!

Flugette: Awesome cake. I totally worship I made a cake in the shape of a turtle for DS 1st bday and thought I did good. No comparison.

When does spanking become acceptable? I started off with tone of voice discipline, then progressed to time outs in the room, to standing in a corner. DS actually likes standing in the corner OMG Just a bit ago, he cracked my little guy across the face with his doodle pad. It took every ounce of restraint, not to spank the crap out of him.

jaime... my heart sank when i read your update. i am so very sorry you are going through this. sending hugs and prayers your way. and hoping you are feeling a little less sick/uncomfortable physically.

dazzled... ebay: okay that's a very different story than i originally understood. bounce yes, you should get your money back. how long has it been since the auction ended/since you paid? on ebay, under the help portal there is a dispute section, where you can file a dispute if it has been more than 7 days and you don't have the item. you can also do that on paypal. you should be doing it in both places. ebay is the place one does it if one still wants the item and wants them to push for resolution or discipline the seller.
on paypal, once you file that dispute, you will get your money refunded into your paypal account. and they will notify the seller that they have done so. then the ball is in the seller's court to act on it. but paypal will always ask - did you file a dispute in ebay. and so you must do both.

good luck! and sorry you ran into someone scammy.

ank, bronc, lisap (and another person who wasn't feeling well - who was it? nikayla was it you?) hope you are all feeling better.

rach, yayyyyy! on being home with baby and beginning the target training.

kalli, hope you have a good truck packing day today! hug

everyone else, hugs for a happy, fun, productive sunday.

that being said, i do understand some of the consternation - if you work hard to find stuff and share it with a group of regulars and then people take it and post it on HD so it disappears within minutes cos non-SD'ers from across the internet/lurkers find it and snap it up, i can see how people would be so frustrated.
i wasn't around for the 3yrs ago shutdown, but it's getting ugly in there. and that's unfortunate for the regulars, methinks.

what about grounding? would that work with him?
when we fought as kids, we ended up grounded. no birthday parties (hated that, because being social butterfly queen was no longer feasible AND you had to explain to friends in school why you can't attend), no playdates, no cartoon watching etc.
all the fun privileges were gone. if you're not good, you don't have the fun freedoms of life, was the message. worked.
