If you have any more problems, buy this thing at the hardware store called a drain King , hubby says he got one for about ten dollars. Was a last resort before he called a pluber a long time ago and he had tried everthing. This thing worked like a charm . He swears by it , http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000190.php

He got ours at an ACE Hardware.

*snip*
Thank you...need to look into that and Dia's snake-attached-to-power-drill DIY thing too....

Although, I forgot the rest of the story yesterday....

Plumber-guys arrive from the RotoRooter company and low and behold one of them is DH's cousin!! We had NO idea that he was working for them and this was his first day/week back on the job after a broken leg....in fact we'd sent a bunch of stockpile stuff over to him with my MIL not long ago while he was recuperating and didn't know he'd finally gotten back to work. It was just one of those funny coincidences.

He said to call him personally if we had any more issues and he'd come and fix them as he has some of the equipment needed. And really at this point we haven't had to pay any more since it was just unfixed from the last time they came.

Oh geez GT, new years would be even worse! I have a friend with a son whose bday is around then too and they've been known to celebrate it in like June or so when it is warm and nice out LMAO
We've always done it on his bday. When he was little, it worked out pretty well. Back then (before we moved away) we had family over and did it early afternoon. Everybody was off work but nobody was getting ready to go out yet.

He is the reason we I started taking our tree down right after Christmas though. Baby due any day -- I didn't want to come home from the hospital with a new baby and tree to deal with. Then after that, I wanted stuff cleaned up and Christmas done so his bday didn't get buried in it.

man I need to get a springform pan.
I saw one at Target on clearance for eight something. Don't know what brand or what the original price was. Just glanced down to check -- thought if it was really cheap I might pick it up. I think it had a silverstone or Teflon like finish. I hate that, but for something that doesn't get used very often it would probably last a while.

Added later: Where the heck is everybody?

Do you remember the Target deal on Betty Crocker cheesey boxed potatoes? It must have been a couple years ago -- at least. They were either free or just a few cents. I just used the last box a couple nights ago.

BRRRR!!! Temp is 23, with wind chill of 9! About froze when I brought my son to school.

And do any of you moms have a recommendation for gloves for toddlers? The ones we have are gifts from Grandma, and are way too bulky. They don't fit under the coat sleeves, so they stick out like crazy, and fall off. They're puffy Columbia ones. I would love ones that stay on, are relatively warm, easy to put on, can tuck into the coat sleeves, etc. I may just have to resort to those cheapo ones, just to save myself the frustration in the mornings.

Such cute little people pictures!! heart Love the babies.

My son's kindergarten Christmas program was last night and I was so proud of him. He has blossomed so much since starting school, he's almost a different kid. He sang his little heart out, which in and of itself is a miracle. From the age of 2 until he was about 3, he loved singing at night with daddy. But around 3 years old, he started getting very self-conscious, and just stopped singing. Made me so sad. But since he's been in school, he just loves his music teacher and she has somehow helped him find his voice again. For those who remember my concerns about my son, it was a big deal to me that although he didn't have a speaking part, he at least participated and joined in. nod

Must figure out what's going on at RA this week, and T. Have lots of Kohls qs to use by Saturday. And I should probably hit up Hallmark, as well. All in the mornings, with two little girls. Evenings are jam-packed!!

Ugh. Last night was HORRIBLE with my little guy. He woke up with diarrhea at midnight and didn't go back to sleep until 4. Then of course, I had to wake him up to take DS to school. Annoyed The little guy has always been a terrible sleeper but 4/5 nights last week, he slept 12 hours. I attribute it to the fact that it doesn't get light in the morning here until 8am.

Plan on doing a lot of shopping today. Need to get a couple more sonicare and some odds and ends for DH. We agreed that we aren't doing any big gifts this year b/c of all the stuff we got on BF and the fact that we have to move ourselves down to FL...

I never wrapped stocking stuffers but maybe I will this year...we are doing a small Christmas here and then celebrating with my family on the 29th. I doubt my boys will ever remember that...plus it will be like 2 christmases. Before the snafu in our move, I had already sent all of the boys' big gifts to my mom's house down there...so not feasible for them to get them on Christmas.

Do you all think that a play kitchen is a good gift for boys. I was so excited to get one for my boys. I got this one. [step2.com]. I also got fake food & pots/pans for it. Now DH is thinking it is more of a girlie gift. He is giving me $hit about it...My older son loves to play with the kitchen at this playhouse we go to a lot...he loves talking about food groups, colors, tastes of food etc. I mean, DH is a chef for crying out loud.Dontknow

That is kind of hilarious. That he objects, not that he is a chef. Yes, I think it's a good gift for a boy. My son (now 23) had one and loved it. My daughter played with the same kitchen and she played with it until she was a lot older than he did. Oh my gosh, a while back Target had some really neat, cute fake food. I was drooling over it, wishing they would have had stuff that cute and cheap when mine were little.

They also had a McDonalds and played with it for a long time too. The kitchen and McDonalds are currently still stored for grandchildren. They wanted them kept -- not me!

Sorry about your ds Gator hug Lots and lots of coffee for us TCC'ers today I guess laugh out loud That play kitchen is freaking awesome!!!!! Any kid (girl or boy) would be lucky to get that and no it is not girly....not even girly colors. From an early childhood education persepective (what I did before staying home with dd) that is a GREAT educational gift!! That kind of pretend play is super important.

Flug - have to be gloves? how about mittens? We just have some plain fleece mittens w/matching hat that were on clearance at LL Bean last year and they work great. DD is 2, we got size 2t-4t I think and they are a little big but work well.

I agree that that is an awesome kitchen and any kid would have hours and hours of fun playing in it. nod

And no, they don't have to be gloves, mittens are fine. Fleece would be awesome. I think I'll check if Kohls has any this week, for cheap/free after coupon.

Thanks hon - we are loving her! It probably has something to do with the fact that we all know she is probably (God willing) our last.

We had two kids. Each kid had their own Santa paper and all their gifts were wrapped in it and nothing else was.
Yup, this is how we do it, too. I also use Santa Bags - Pottery Barn Kids has them still but I got mine from Land's End on a slick deal but they don't carry them anymore. Bummer, too, b/c they were/are really nice.

I wrap my stocking stuffers, too. We fill each other's stockings at my mom's house, too and I've heard several people say that that is their favorite part (the stockings). I love unwrapping those little gifts. heart

Quote from getgreen09 :
last year, we went to midnight mass and returned and i still had some presents left to wrap, because i had not been left alone in days so wrapping had not happened. so at 3 am after everyone went to bed, i tiptoed around, slowly pulled things out from their hiding places, then carried everything to the car and drove the car further down the street so i wasn't visible from the windows. i had already hidden the paper in the trunk under a bunch of stuff.
i sat in the driver's seat for the next 3 hours, wrapping. Faint
present would sit in passenger seat as i reached over and taped. rolls of wrapping paper, tissues etc on the back passenger seat. santa's little workshop was chugging away on a cold, cold, cold night.
and then i carried everything up, gingerly put under tree, curled up on couch, left on tv and fell off to (pretend) sleep, so when everyone awoke the story was i had fallen off to sleep watching tv and must have had one too many jolly holly libations. Big Grin
LMAO It seems like every year there is one or two things that got forgotten until the last minute around here but nothing that extreme! LOL

also, if you have an ebay/paypal account, you can get a significantly discounted rate through paypal for both usps and ups packages.

I picked it up at a craft show last summer. It's a dark chocolate brown and like you, I'd never seen anything but regular colors so I snapped it right up (it was the last one too). The little/big flower is a clip on so it can be changed. SO cute and SO much fun. My Hallmark has some similar type hats/bows if you are thinking of something for Mavis. Nothing brown but some really cute Mud Pie sets. I think they can be bought separately, too so good with that $10 q. Wink

Secret Santa, I think you haven't gotten your gift yet so it should be today or USPS has some 'splainin to do!

Gator- I think the kitchen is awesome. Kiley is getting a kitchen from Santa this year and I KNOW cole is the one who will play with it the most. The teachers at his school always say that the boys play in he kitchen more than the girls. Do what I do and tell your DH that you can just give them the gift that HE picked out and bought and wrapped... Oh that's right there isn't one because you took care of all of it! Whee
