2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk
Stir together and cook at a rolling boil until it hits soft ball stage. You can determine this by using a candy thermometer or a cup of cold water. It will stick to the spoon and be kind of a thick syrup. Drip a few drops off your spoon into a cup cold water. If you can roll it up in a ball and pick it up, it's ready.
Once you hit soft ball stage -- work quickly and:
Stir in a tablespoon or so of butter, a little vanilla, and a glob of peanut butter -- about 1/3 - 1/2 cup. Mix it in quickly. Move pan to a sink full of cold water and submerse the bottom of the pan, stir until it starts to cool and set up. QUICKLY poor onto your plate or pan. Often it will start to set up and you can skip the sink part.
I have always done it by feel and cold water but I did try it using a candy thermometer a while back and "soft ball" does set up right.

GT - dang that sounds good! I'm kind of mesmerized by the candy thermometer after doing the caramels....I used that combined with the ice water method when making the caramels, worked great. Your recipe almost sounds like a cross between caramel and fudge!!
Went out shopping for just a little bit this AM with my mom.....just couldn't stand the crowds and we ended up at Olive Garden for lunch
Still not sure if we are going to go out of town or not. We could probably get more for less money but you do have to factor in gas and time. And the possibility that I may kill someone now that the stores are getting busy. In our little area -- not busy, no crowds = I probably won't go off the deep end. So, in that weird sort of way -- I'm almost sort of hoping it isn't worth my while to leave town. I wouldn't mind figuring out some KMart deals though.
This should redeem me Hippos 12-5 ss, there are four games listed on the q
There is the Hallmark coupon -- I haven't been and looked but I would think there would maybe be book or two that would be appropriate.
I have a bunch of hot wheels for the boy. Odds and ends like nail polish and little digital camera for the little girl. (I only have pink or he could have one too).
So, have you come up with any deals yet? I need more info about the KMart coupon too. Is it ok to use, are there restrictions. etc.? I figure if not, then maybe we could each use it once. I do have a KMart locally. (KMart, Dollar General, and a dollar type store are all we have without driving over an hour)
If we go out of town -- are the Kohls coupons still instant print? Is there stuff that would be a buck or two or free after coupon?
Other printables -- I think I missed the boat on those. Are the Hungry Hippos coupons done and gone?
Geez, where did everybody go?
When you sign up for the KMart birthday club how long does it take before they send out the $5 coupon? I signed up today and used today as the birthday.
anyone else
Also one more deal post in commonsensewithmoney for ubuild connect and monoploy board games, free or $2 depending on the coupon you print or the tearpad you find at walmart, i have both printed coupon and tearpad (3 each for both) from yesterday's visit. So going to wallyworld now. Let me report tonight

I'm still sort of looking for a TV. I was gonna buy 2 (one for me, one for my brother's family) so that he could help me out if I run into technical difficulties, but I really haven't looked for one, except at Black Friday, which I had no chance at. I really don't buy for myself this time of year, with 11 in the SILs family, there is always a need there.
I guess it's kind of ironic that I bought myself a Sony BluRay player (wags deal, paid mostly with RRs), as I don't have an updated TV that can even use it, as my TV takes one input. . . the cable and has a power cord and is older than some of you posters here.
You are sweet to say that HDD.
My organization skills stink. They are beyond bad.
Basically, I want to start keeping tabs on how much in coupons I am redeeming. It's part curiosity, part wanting to show off (lol). I have a lot of naysayers who don't think it's "worth" it and I'd just love to give them a big, fat dollar amount.
Does anyone have a program that use or maybe a sample spreadsheet?
I was thinking of dividing out into MQs, TQs (since I use so many!) and maybe showing doubles from my local market. Although it might be easiest to just lump them all together?
Thoughts? Am I the only one who thinks about these things? I think it would just be interesting to see.

But you could just have them ring you up hit subtotal - write it down then give the Qs and subtract taht total from the preQ and do the math for the %
I had an aunt who kept track of how much she saved with coupons by putting the exact amount of money of the coupons she used into a jar and that was her family's vacation fund for the year. Probably not realistic with how much some of us save but something similar would be fun too....then you would be able to tell your friends that you saved so much using coupons that you were able to do ________ or buy ____________. Ya know?
Whatever works for ya basically
