Having a tough time coming up with stocking stuffers for 2 teenage boys and DH, without spending a ton, anyway. Could fill them with giftcards, but that would be $$$$$$!

where is the Yankee Candle coupon everyone was talking about earlier?

Other than that I don't know what the problem might be....I use chips of all sorts on most everything and never add anything and they set up great Dontknow
No, no, it's not setting up that is the problem. It's melting and being thin enough to dip. I've gotten them plenty hot and added the same amount of Crisco, the very same way I do Hersheys' milk chocolate chips. But the damn things are too thick. I think next time I will try another brand. Have you specifically used Nestle's White chips? If you did and they worked, what the hell did you do to them?

Have you tried using Guittard brand? They have excellent chocolate, it's what See's and other chocolatiers use. The chocolate chips are produced in a peanut-free environment. I buy the chocolate chips, both semi-sweet and milk chocolate, at Safeway. They are about the same price as Hershey/ Nestle chips, twice the quality/ chocolate satisfaction, and Safeway's price is about 30% less than the exact product that is packaged in the See's "chocolate drops" wrapper.

Q: Which chocolates are best for melting and dipping, like for truffles or pretzels?
A: Baking chips are formulated with just the right amount of cocoa butter to make a nice shape and a nice finished cookie but not enough to flow easily for candy making. That's why we make other chocolates for that purpose, such as couverture chocolate. Please see "How to Temper Chocolate" in the Chocolate Chemistry section of our web site, under Learn. You can find our 1 lb E. Guittard Couverture Chocolate Wafers in select stores or online at www.eguittard.com. If, after reading about tempering, you don't think you're ready for that, you may want to try our A'peels products. They can be found online at www.chocosphere.com. The handling is easier but some attention to temperature of melting is still required. With gentle heat, as over a double boiler with below-simmering water, melt them to 110°F and then coat the items and cool them under a fan in a cool room 60°-70°F. A microwave oven can also be used for melting the A'peels products when handled in a microwave proof container on half power with 30 second intervals of heating and stirring.

I have used Hershey's most recently for white chips.....for semisweet I have used mostly Hershey and Baker's Bar and for milk chocolate almost all Aldi brand. All of mine were fairly thick but definitely dippable Confused Trying to think off some you could add to thin it a bit but not coming up with anything....

Actually with white chocolate, you don't want it above 80 degress and try cocoa butter to thin it if you have any , should help, or you could do a little cream , has butter

Chocolate any kind can be finicky, that's why them fancy restaurants and bakeries treat their chocolateers like gold . a good one is r worth their weight in gold. They are HIGHLY paid and very valueds. Long winded way of saying you ain't alone in your struggles with the ever loved and coveted chocolate LOL .

Holy moly, I'm exhausted...but now realized I forgot half the things I meant to look for at T tonight, like cookware. But I have a ridiculous amount of lightbulbs now laugh out loud Good timing because I just had to replace my bedroom ones when I got home.

Oh, if I was to buy in family of Halls or Dentyne products, what else would I need?
