I missed the Extreme Couponing show on TLC the first time. They're running the repeat now though if anyone's interested... and after the first segment, I'm already :puking: at the first girl's behavior.

I just watched it today with a friend, who is my sometimes-coupon buddy. The first girl and the dude at the end are a blot on the name of couponers everywhere. The first girl gets her stuff for no other reason than to accumulate it. No way she and her hubby can consume the amount of food she brings home, and yet she makes no mention of donating it. The guy at the end talks about donating his 1100 boxes of cereal, but what about the rest of the stuff he brought home?? No way he and his wife can consume all that. I mean, how many bottles of hand soap did he buy? Is it me, or does it not take the average household at least a month or more to go through a bottle?

I liked the retired nurse the best. She was funny, had a story behind her couponing that is awesome, and only buys what she can personally consume.

The SAHM was annoying, and was anyone else bothered by her stacking her jars of Ragu around her tiny little boy in the cart??? Not to mention allowing him to be in the dumpster with her.

All in all, I felt it showed very well the sheer amount of work involved, so hopefully those watching will think its way too much effort and they don't have the time. nod laugh out loud

I just tuned in...but I like the nurse. She's got the right mentality and tries to help other people, too. But, of course, most people just don't get it.

I like her too. The thing is though, she was did something that wouldn't be on the "up-and-up" around here - most of my grocery stores that double q's only double up to the sale price that you get with your loyalty card. Assuming her store is like that, she gave her loyalty card at the end so her q's would double up to the normal shelf price and that gave her overage for the other stuff. My cashiers usually won't even accept my q's until a loyalty card is scanned.

Haha, just reread my post and I came across very judgmental, as though I myself don't have a living room full of shampoo, deo, etc., that my family will never consume. Stick Out Tongue But ... major difference for me is, esp compared to the guy at the end, I do NOT go in the store and get hundreds and hundreds of items in one fell swoop. My tubs have been accumulated over months of shopping. And are probably a fraction of what some of the rest of those on here have accumulated. Teehee

There, did I justify myself enough? shake head laugh out loud

Back to planning my HT runs. Big Grin

I am pretty sure my k-cup supply/count/stockpile could rival that of a certain AFC member's giftset/floss/pantene stockpile Evil

Difference: some were gifts, most were purchased online....aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnddddd GUESS WHAT? I didn't have to clear any shelves to get that many Big Grin

Ok....who signed up over there under my referral link and with the name of a friendly stockpiler from my state Whistling (ahem, I had to look it up to even figure out what in the world a 'referrer' was) and is trying to place nice with the devil?? Coverlaugh

I keep only what I know I (and my family) will logically use before it expires or until we get sick of it. Sure, I could buy enough shampoo for 5 years, but frankly, I don't want to see that damn Root Awakening or Suave in five years! laugh out loud

I think the first woman's husband has had it. Why buy another 400 boxes of pasta when you have 1 years worth already. Do they eat pasta for breakfast, lunch AND dinner every day (that would get old quick). If so, why buy the 1100 boxes of cereal?

The second girl, with the kid and the pregnant lady IN THE DUMPSTER had gloves on, but Nono2 her kid and the pregnant lady did not.

Retired nurse is at least sane, but walking 7 miles everyday picking up coupons? Seems to take all day, every day.

I refused to watch Nathan. I saw enough on 20/20 of him to last a lifetime (and his cute little Jell-O 20/20 symbol) that he did NOT DONATE.

I do buy MM's IF I can either use them, my SILs family can use them or I can donate them. Otherwise, nope, not happening.

I noticed that, too. That's the first thing cashiers ask when I start handing over coupons. The only way it works is with SCO. Evil

I admit that I do accumulate more than my family will use. If I only accumulated what we used, we'd be out of it in no time since my DH finds any excuse to give as much of our stockpile away as possible. laugh out loud I swear, if you ask him for his shirt, he'd give you his pants and shoes too. Makes me heart him sooo much!
