DS finally started back at preschool today. Dropped off 20 canisters of Clorox wipes (Publix deal) and several cookie sheets and muffins today at the school. Director was ecstatic! Feels good to be a giver. Wink

i am so sorry for both your losses. i pray that you feel the constant presence of your father's love each day, and especially today, and that when you look at yourself in the mirror (not in terms of your face, but really look into your own eyes) you see that in you and in all the amazing, magical things you have become, your father lives on beautifully, every single day.

cathi... hug hug hug thank you for the update. he is in my prayers every single day. you know, i don't know which hospital they are going to, but it is worth exploring: large hospitals frequently have a complimentary medicine center with homeopathy, acupuncture, acupressure and reiki practitioners and they custom design a plan for patients to help alleviate the chemo side effects. it makes a big difference for a lot of people. a lot of hospitals also have a family support/counseling/spiritual center, and if approached they will assign someone to check in on the family and privately allow each member to talk to counselors about their fears and frustrations and feelings. that could be very helpful for your brother and his family. they will also often assign a spiritual counselor who will check in with the family and these folks are just a little better able to deal with the dimensions of the situation than their professional counterparts in the world outside, because they're specifically trained to deal with the medical setting.

to get an idea of what i'm saying check out the web pages for dana farber cancer center in boston or m.d. anderson cancer center in houston, just so you can get an idea of what you guys might want and then can ask the hospital etc. sometimes when one is going through so much it is hard to know what resources are available and where to find them.

hug

tootsie... hug i am really glad to hear you are feeling better. glad, too you went outside where people could see you and that you drank water. i get auras - things out of focus, light rings around stuff, dizziness, black spots, but have never had what you described, thankfully! that is scary stuff.
also, just in case you might want to start a migraine diary when you feel a bit better. note date, time of attack, symptoms and anything else you can think of for that day: where you are in your hormonal cycle, any rx changes, any stress triggers, any particular foods you had, whether you had been drinking/not drinking a lot of water etc. so if you get more migraines, you can start looking for patterns.

Also, I got my Torani sugar free syrups in Friday and I have to say I am in Heart! They go awesome with some whipping cream in my coffee for a nice low carb cup. yummy I was really having a hard time giving up the Flavored international coffee creamers and this is the perfect substitute. Thank you love2beeamom for the recommendation. hug
Mmmmmmmmm. I was at Gordman's again this weekend and they had a whole endcap full of the SF ones. $5.99/bottle there which is high, but they have 20% coupons sometimes too so really to try another bottle I *guess* I would pay that. They had white chocolate and butter toffee I think? yummy Resisted this time but going to have to check in the future. I am loving both caramel and vanilla SF....l2b is my hero worship

Glad I could be of help with the flavor choices Wink Actually, I wouldn't have ordered the first time if it weren't for tootsie telling me how to make a good low carb cup of coffee..Now, I am hooked..

Went out and played in the snow, came in and snacked in front of the fire, and now just finished soaking in a hot tub.. now, if I could get a nap, it would be a truly perfect day!

M2C and TMCWS - hug my mom has been gone 3 years and my dad 13 years.. some days are still so hard. I always remind people to treasure their parents while they have them. I didn't appreciate mine enough until they were gone Frown

Well, school is closed here again tomorrow. I think I am going to tackle cleaning out the closet and my clothes drawers tonight.. They are both a mess.

And on the yard sale talk.. I seem to have a hard time these days with stockpiling yard sale stuff.. Either lack of good deals or lack of coupons.. I do have a growing collection of suave, but don't expect that to bring in $$ at a yard sale.

It never hurts to make notes and keep track of any developmental things, and I do understand being concerned . Monkey toddler had (and has) a vacuum and USB cord obsession. He did a research study for younger siblings of children with autism and it was the only thing they noted that I should watch for because it was such an odd obsession for a one year old- he wanted to carry around a USB cord as if it were a lovey. He still has a thing for cables, asks to look at vacuums more than toys at a store, but he is slowly growing out of this stage. It's been a 2 year stage.
neighbor's ds has been having a thing about ropes, ubs cords and bungee cords for the last 6 months starting around 2.5 yrs old. likes to carry it around, also tie it, hook it on things and pull them around like a leash. her and dh joke that he will be an engineer.

i am a bad patient - an impatient patient - and i'm so sorry you guys have had to hear my relentless debbie downer carping. so sorry. it's just that the pain has been wearing out all the grace and sense of humor i like to tell myself i possessed in large quantities before all this . and i have so many responsibilities and so much i was doing and needed to do. everything came to a sudden stop. now all that is piling up, plus i have more hassles from the paperwork/financial burden of this accident. it's making me rather ungracious.

tomorrow's a new day. i'll try to do better again. it's all i can do, right?

 :blowkiss: to each of you! thank you for all your love, support, advice, prayers. you guys

eta: tootsie... the honda pilot 2010 didn't get rave reviews, which i was disappointed to see. but the acura mdx did as an amazing car with all the bells and whistles. the only lament was that for all it had, and despite the luxury car label it didn't possess quite the cache of say a porsche. to which i say, phooey. i care not about stereotypes. i  hondas (maker of acura) for their reliability and fuel economy and excellent engineering. i really like the mercedes suv - friends have it. and really trust mercedez. ditto with bmw. but i don't like how some of the new models look from the outside. low and round. i like my cars to be tall and high and feel hefty. and i want to be able to drive them off-road and not worry that i'll break something. so there's that. if you pass the texas cornfield, new hampshire ski mountain and LA red carpet test, you're my car.
gg- sorry life is so sucky right now. it will get better ! now would be a good time to start delegating and just supervise from the sofa. you have a great excuse. hopefully when you are better, some of it will stick.

in sept 2009, neighbor's lease on porsche cayenne was up and she had to get a bigger car b/c she had another set of twins in the meantime. she really wanted the mercedes (even though her dh absolutely hates mercedes) but had to have black on black and could not find one for an affordable price even though the next yrs models were already out. she was almost ready to settle for a honda pilot but the reviews were just not good, i read one that recommended searching out a used car instead of buying a new one.

so we went to test drive an acura which she had dismissed long ago b/c everybody has one, including my dh. she has a thing about having unique things, that's why she was in love w/ her porsche, she would even kiss it on the hood and bumper :vomit:. what people don't realize is that hers was the 6 cylinder, not 8 cylinder turbo, so it costs about the same as the acura, bmw and highlander ! i see one practically every day, sometimes 2, so it really is not that unique and is the same car as the tuareg which i actually see much less of.

there happened to be a honda pilot on the lot, which happened to be her only other option in her price range b/c the highlander didn't have a split 3rd row and the bmw didn't have a 3rd row. so after comparing the 2 cars, she got the acura w/ the tech package. she also justified it by saying the pilot has less cargo room than the acura, but i looked it up and it's not true, i knew that b/c i have an acura, my friend has the pilot, she was just saying that to make herself feel better. she ended up breaking the handle on her twin stroller from slamming the door on it, so compromising on cargo space has at least cost her a new stroller.

at first she wasn't happy w/ the fact that there are so many acuras on the road just like hers, but after me and dh telling her a few times that the reason there are so many and that many of our friends also own it is b/c it is a good deal for the price, she has become comfortable w/ her decision. she has realized that w/ the mercedes there was a markup just for the name that she could not afford. and her dad just traded in his 10 yr old mercedes that needed some major repair work for a honda accord when they had 0% financing just b4 xmas. i know she did some persuading that you get more bang for your buck, but he seems very happy, so it's all good. she is not happy that her dh wants to replace his admittedly old, used bmw w/ a range rover b/c that car is definitely not a good value. what is funny is that b4 the porsche, she wanted the range rover also, but it just had such a horrible reliability record, even their mechanic said not to get it.

the one thing i think needs a lot of work, or maybe it's just not set properly is that she is always screaming at her steering wheel and having to redial w/ the bluetooth. it's weird to be in the car w/ her :lmao:!

I haven't been at work since mid-day Tuesday due to being sick. Started with tummy troubles. Over the weekend the throat started getting sore. Left side tonsil is HUGE and both are spotted. I can't get to the doctor today, due to the snow. It's probably strep throat.
I don't know what that means for my trip to see niece play Wed-Saturday now
sorry, it means trip is cancelled.! i have large tonsils so i have a tendency to get strep. it can be serious misery.

sorry, didn't get ensure. where is the splenda coupon from? it's not listed in the alphabetical thread.

I've gotten really good coupons from companies before for emailing. I usually only email when I'm really ticked though. When Morningstar discontinued my corndogs I had a fit  They sent me several free product coupons and explained how the product couldn't be made any longer since they couldn't find a factory to produce the product, blah, blah, yada yada. Meanwhile, I haven't had a decent corndog in a while
yeah, i only complain and i usually call b/c i hate to wait for replies. i love instant gratification.

Quote from setsail :
I don't get this recent infatuation with 01 and 00 for bogo and for $5/2 coupons. It's making cashiers and GSTL very jumpy and not going well at some stores no matter how many times I show them the products in the cart.
01's are beepless at other stores, like my supermarket.

target is not the only store around, you know ;).

(i had to disable all the smilies b/c there were 21 and i wasn't about to edit them down to 10.)

I couldn't agree more! I lost my mom 7 years ago, and I still think about her and talk to her every day. I know she's up there watching, and I still try to live my life in a way that would make her proud if she were still here. Definitely a good reminder to say I love you a LOT now, while we can still hear them say it back.

What part of the country are you in again? I am PRAYING for another snow day tomorrow! I have actually gotten some things accomplished today...rare for me to do on a snow day. LMAO

hug to everyone who has lost a parent. I wish I was closer to my parents. I hope that my kids and I always remain close. I would be devastated if we didn't.

I really need to get my YS pile growing, at a rapid pace. Our plan is to have our relocation and extra 5% down payment on top of any we get from our home sale from doing 3 YS a month at 3 different flea market/yard sale locations on a rotation. (I pull my YS stockpile behind the minivan or atleast will this year) Typically I make $450 a sale doing it every third week in the late spring thru early fall but I just know if that is the pace I want to keep, I will need my pile to be HUGE to start. I am not looking forward to sorting thru it although, as I buy, it all gets thrown together in the same box untill it get full then the lid goes on and the next box is filled and stacked.
since you are planning to step up the pace, i would recommend changing your method somewhat. maybe have 4-5 boxes going at a time like h&b, cleaning products, baby, air freshener, etc so at least they will be sorted by category. it makes life a lot easier.

That could be a good thing. It may let you head them off. I used to have migraines fairly regularly -- especially if I was in stores from the fluorescent lights. Anyway, as I got older I started having the auras first, then the migraine. I finally caught on Confusedand as soon as the auras start I immediately chew or let dissolve in my mouth 3 or 4 aspirin. It nearly always stops it before the pain attacks. If I don't think it's going to, I take a couple ibuprofen to help with the pain and with any luck I don't have to move on to a narcotic.

HyVee has them for under $5 - Four something. The only sugar free at my store is the caramel, but you have a lot bigger store, so you may have more variety.

Have you seen the Kahlua syrup (Da Vinci)? They have regular and sugar free. I put a bottle in my cart and pushed it around for a while. Then I put it back. It's been ages since I've had Kahlua and it's $12 a bottle. They are bigger bottles but I don't remember what size and it doesn't show them on their website. Anybody tried it?
